MNHQ Deletion Policy

TheUterati · 30/04/2018 17:03

Earlier today the Trans Park Run thread was deleted in its entirety because SOME posts alleging cheating were deemed to be 'not in the spirit' of MN.

We have a thread about that running.

I have just been deleted on the Heather Peto thread for posting this:

"Bless..."

A post intended to be mildly dismissive.

That was deleted for breaking talk guidelines.

Give me a fucking break MNHQ.

"Bless..." gets a deletion!??!?!

TRA really have got you on a short chain, haven't they?

No, Poula, I mean exactly what I said. Hope that helps.

Pratchet · 30/04/2018 22:14

We have Woman's Place and We Need to Talk. If we can only do it in person, then that's how we will do it. If they stop that, if we can't meet in buildings, then we will meet in houses, in the streets, in parks. We will win. In the end, we have more power than they can possibly imagine.

AnitaLovesVictor · 30/04/2018 22:13

Someone has just posted this on twitter - it's old, but judging by the fact that PosieParker was reported to police by that Mermaids person, I think it still needs saying.

CadyHeron · 30/04/2018 22:13

It'sut - it's about

AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 22:13

And yes to what Anita said. I'm just annoyed - my own Cluster B person is many years in the past and I've long since come to terms with that experience to the point where it's protective armor rather than active trauma. But I can see what having those behavior patterns allowed to flourish in this space is doing to women for whom experience with that variety of abuser is more recent, and it's really, really not OK. A woman-centered site should know how to deal with this stuff, because fuck knows it comes with the territory. The abusive behavior is escalating, and has in fact now escalated to blatant threats, and far from discouraging it MNHQ is punishing women for pointing it out.

I have no idea what Justine's personal views on the trans issue are, but the gap between what she publicly committed to and what's been happening in the last few days from the mod team is fairly substantial. The attacks on Mumsnet are escalating, which was predictable. Was "bully any commenters who push back into silence or submission" really the plan? Because at this point the "oh we try so hard for you and look how you repay us by not being Nice enough" messages from HQ are, as they're so fond of saying, not really in the spirit of.

CadyHeron · 30/04/2018 22:12

MN does allow talking though. It's about the only place that does. Long may it continue.

Ereshkigal · 30/04/2018 22:11

I'm happy to share my phone number via PM so we can speak privately on WhatsApp, kittens. If I start getting mysteriously harassed, I'll be going to the police and ICO.

RedToothBrush · 30/04/2018 22:09

Let me repeat. This is not about identity. This is about behaviour.

The ultra defensive nature is read as aggression. The natural reaction to that is to shut down and be defensive.

You end up in a cycle of it.

To break the cycle you must be allowed to talk.

It is the only way out.

BREAK THE CYCLE. DO NOT REINFORCE IT.

AnitaLovesVictor · 30/04/2018 22:09

Nevertheless, she persisted

OlennasWimple · 30/04/2018 22:08

How can you find out if a poster has had posts deleted? (I don't think I have, except for quoting stuff that is subsequently deleted, but I'd like to check....)

RefuseToDenounceBiology · 30/04/2018 22:08

If this really does turn to shit, we can set up our own forum.

thebewilderness · 30/04/2018 22:08

They did say in a thread about the breach that they have access to our messages.

Ereshkigal · 30/04/2018 22:07

I imagine she knows what she meant.

PoulaFisch · 30/04/2018 22:07

*Today 21:59 AngryAttackKittens

Not self-care, more reluctance to support an organization that's so blatantly failing to support women.*

Don't you mean reluctance to support your point of view?

Ereshkigal · 30/04/2018 22:06

I'll share mine. You don't have to.

SophoclesTheFox · 30/04/2018 22:06

And now for my calm posting:

I can only imagine the deep joy that this thread and the deletions is causing in certain quarters.

Don't give anyone the satisfaction of thinking they got to you.

Deep breaths. Nevertheless, she persisted.

Hateloggingin · 30/04/2018 22:06

AngryAttackKittens, I actually was :(

Seriously though I thought I was just explaining why I hate jealousy being used to bash women. I won’t repear what I said again as it’ll go poof again probably.

Was it because I said a trans person could never be the sex (biologically) they wanted to transition into? That’s factual isn’t it? I’m not lying just so I don’t get deleted, that’s ridiculous

thebewilderness · 30/04/2018 22:06

Women's rights have been declared to be anti trans, just as they were declared to be anti men in our foremothers day.
We must not stand down from this battle in the war on women.

Ereshkigal · 30/04/2018 22:06

I don't know what was said at the end - but that was an important discussion about women's sport, and defining women as a biological category.

Some melodramatic pearl clutcher doesn't understand that "transphobia" does not = failing to submit to an Orwellian belief system that men can be women. i said nothing that hasn't been said here a million times before.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 22:05

I'd love to Ereshkigal but MNHQ refuse to answer my question about whether or not the mods have access to our PMs at this point in time. I don't think it's a good idea to share identifying information there until we know for sure that they don't.

thebewilderness · 30/04/2018 22:03

AngryAttackKittens
Oh no you do not! It is not allowed.

AnitaLovesVictor · 30/04/2018 22:03

Red is right to be distressed. Women are being silenced, now even on Mumsnet. Our very biology, discussions about it, are now deemed transphobic. So women have to shut up.

I'm distressed, I came that close to flouncing off MN this afternoon, when I saw that the Parkrun thread had been deleted. I didn't see the last couple of hours of it, so I don't know what was said at the end - but that was an important discussion about women's sport, and defining women as a biological category.

This sucks, MNHQ - and this is not what I expected from Justine's triumphant herald of free speech in the media, and on the radio.

Ereshkigal · 30/04/2018 22:03

If you want to, and only if you do, Kittens, PM me if you do go. Would like to keep in touch.

SophoclesTheFox · 30/04/2018 22:03

Oh, this is bad.

For heaven's sake will you please step away from the delete button, MNHQ? You are inflaming this with every deletion.

I hate that it seems like we're piling on you, but what happened to the statement on free speech? All the effort everyone has been making to Go High? And then this, tonight?

HelloBlueSkies · 30/04/2018 22:01

I was on that thread (under a different name, I name change quite a lot). It was really interesting and even more interesting that it's been deleted...
