MNHQ Deletion Policy

TheUterati · 30/04/2018 17:03

Earlier today the Trans Park Run thread was deleted in its entirety because SOME posts alleging cheating were deemed to be 'not in the spirit' of MN.

We have a thread about that running.

I have just been deleted on the Heather Peto thread for posting this:

"Bless..."

A post intended to be mildly dismissive.

That was deleted for breaking talk guidelines.

Give me a fucking break MNHQ.

"Bless..." gets a deletion!??!?!

TRA really have got you on a short chain, haven't they?

People comment stuff like "if there were any transphobic comments, MN would delete them, so it can't be THAT bad".
Today has seen loads of them on the other thread and then this one as well with people saying the same things over again which is why they'll be getting deleted (again.)
Nobody's saying transwomen are biologically female. They are legally women though if they have transitioned, whether you like the fact or not. To deny their existence and insist on calling them blokes (not self ID ones who decide on the day, I mean full transwomen) kind of is transphobic.
That's what's kept being pulled.

Swichala · 30/04/2018 22:30

Bless WinkGrin

RefuseToDenounceBiology · 30/04/2018 22:30

That Rowan Atkinson speech is superb. I wish I had a transcript!

BabyItsAWildWorld · 30/04/2018 22:30

Are MNHQ going to start moderating AIBU in this new censorious way,?

That'll be interesting.

But of course that is only women giving other women shit so no one cares.

ReluctantCamper · 30/04/2018 22:30

if you're allowed to yawn Swichala it might not be the place for me. I don't think I can handle that kind of behaviour.

Ereshkigal · 30/04/2018 22:29

had a Labour guy who actually climbed over a flower bed to get away with me calling after him 'no self id for gender' lol he just wanted to give me some leaflets but I trapped him on the doorstep bending his ear.

That's amazing Star thanks so much for the train lol. Really needed it!

Pratchet · 30/04/2018 22:29

Well I'm Spartacus I suppose. A woman is an adult female human of the sex that gestates and bears young. What happens now. Do the rozzers jump out of my phone.

ReluctantCamper · 30/04/2018 22:28

and damn my cul-de-sac location. no canvassers for me.

Swichala · 30/04/2018 22:28

If this really does turn to shit, we can set up our own forum.

www.reddit.com/r/GenderCritical/

Is fairly busy and words like yawn is allowed

thebewilderness · 30/04/2018 22:28

Do you often imagine that you know what other people mean better than they do, Poula?

I have a rule for that!
9th rule of misogyny: Men always know the "real reasons" for everything women do and say.

Not that I am calling them a man you understand. Just that it is a rule that misogynists and some others who shall go nameless practice.

ReluctantCamper · 30/04/2018 22:27

Polite I can live with. not being able to point out that many transwomen act out a damaging parody of womanhood I have more of a problem with.

I would guess that's what was so offensive about what hateloggingon was saying?

Pratchet · 30/04/2018 22:27

I had a Labour guy who actually climbed over a flower bed to get away with me calling after him 'no self id for gender' lol he just wanted to give me some leaflets but I trapped him on the doorstep bending his ear.

TheRealMotherGoose · 30/04/2018 22:26

And yes, I think the average woman on the street ought to be very alarmed. By letting people self-define as women, real women are being erased even from statistics.

FermatsTheorem · 30/04/2018 22:26

Okay, about half way through now...

But Cote : "Oh wow. I just got deleted for posting dictionary definitions of the words Female and Woman. That's new."

What is going on with your moderation policy, @MNHQ @JustineMumsnet ?

That goes way beyond what could be even vaguely justifiable, given your interview with the Times about protecting free speech, Justine. This really is looking increasingly as though one of your mods is a fully paid up TRA who is intent on silencing women's voices by any means. I don't see that there's any other possible interpretation to put on the deletions on this thread.

thebewilderness · 30/04/2018 22:25

I reported the person who declared they were here only to report posts they judged were transphobic as a troll who self declared.
This was the response:
"Hi there Bewilderness

Thanks for your report. We do appreciate why you're concerned, but we can only moderate by our own Talk Guidelines and at the moment this poster isn't breaking them. With this post, they are taking part in a debate that we have fought quite hard to be able to still have, and freedom of speech has to cut both ways. We can't delete posts simply because they go against the majority view here.

We hope you understand where we're coming from. We will continue to keep an eye on this poster and please do report any of their posts that you think might be breaking talk guidelines. We'll always be happy to have a look.

Best wishes

Hebe"

TheRealMotherGoose · 30/04/2018 22:24

I haven't really engaged in this debate, but I find this thread (and the moderation) very alarming. Why are ordinary women being shut down for raising very rational concerns, discussing them and having unpopular opinions? The line between being goady and engaging in debate is obviously a very fine one. If only these Mumsnet moderators could have a go at improving Westminster culture, we might get rid of the 'boys' club' behaviour and humour there. But no, apparently as ordinary women we must remain 'polite' or get shut down.

Ereshkigal · 30/04/2018 22:23

I've wished so much for some canvassers Grin

Pratchet · 30/04/2018 22:23

Oh tush, Poula. There's no point pretending with us. We know it's about silencing and nothing else. You can drop the pious facade.

AngryAttackKittens · 30/04/2018 22:23

Luckily enough I can clarify what I meant myself, and what do you know, Ereshkigal was correct.

Do you often imagine that you know what other people mean better than they do, Poula?

BabyItsAWildWorld · 30/04/2018 22:23

It's absolutely bloody terrifying, and I mean that word, that open discussion of the consequences of legislation for women are being shut down and carefully 'managed,'.

Who cares if some one is offended? No one has the right to not be offended.

Go on offend me. But don't shut me down.

I thought personal attacks were the line?

Never in over 10years have i seen MN moderated like this.

Sarcasm and a take no shit give no shit attitude are practically the MN code. That's why we're vipers right?

So what's changed?
Why are we now expected to be nice all of a sudden?

We know why.
We've upset some men.

Fuck This Shit.
It's fucking unreal.
An actual dystopian nightmare where men pretending to be women get to control and silence actual women in every domain.

Pratchet · 30/04/2018 22:22

Pity the poor election candidates who knock on mine Erish. 20 minutes lectures on the GRA. One Tory nodded though when I suggested her party was moving away from the extreme position of Maria Miller.

PoulaFisch · 30/04/2018 22:21

Today 22:07 Ereshkigal

I imagine she knows what she meant.

And I imagine my statement is what she meant.
Considering a site aimed at parents and specifically mums with 12 million users is obviously supportive of women, but not supportive of "free speech" used as an excuse to post transphobic/hate/abusive speech and propaganda.

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 30/04/2018 22:20

What scrappy said at 21:57

Pratchet · 30/04/2018 22:20

'Censoriousness of the most intimidating kind designed to have a chilling effect on free speech and public protest'

This is what we have! Thank you for posting.

Ereshkigal · 30/04/2018 22:16

We may need to go door to door.
