A woman was thrown out of a FB feminist group for challenging the idea that transwomen get periods.

apparently they DO get periods just without the small aspect of bleeding.

She was told that she was minimising transwomen's periods.

Actually this is one of those things where I'd guess that the majority of people claiming to have periods are not what used to be called transsexuals.

AngryAttackKittens · 26/04/2018 11:08

When even our resident true believer in all things gender thinks the people in the OP are delusional...

I've also gotten off easy, period wise. There's a bit of oddness in that I always bleed for a couple of days, have a day off where it stop, and then bleed more lightly again for a fourth day. No real emotional symptoms at all, cramps sometimes but not debilitating.

They could pretend to be me and do nothing different to what they'd do on any other day! But that would be boring, so...

noeffingidea · 26/04/2018 11:07

Poulafisch they put it out there on social media, so it's up for discussion. I don't think anyone on this thread has suggested that all, or even many, transwomen do this, however it is an observable thing.

Beyond11cisRetinol · 26/04/2018 11:06

Don't pink pigs count as pink chocolate? They've existed since I was a wee girl buying penny sweets?!

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 26/04/2018 11:04

I was on the pill at 13 for period problems

Luckily no nasty hormones or side effects in the pill

So thats good

Beyond11cisRetinol · 26/04/2018 11:02

I would swap Lang, but forcibly ramming a piece of hormoney plastic into my uterus has solved mine. If any delusional person fancies a bit of DIY, I can't be blamed for that, can I?

Prior I had a 21 day cycle that started when I was 10. Yay team female! Angry

PoulaFisch · 26/04/2018 10:59

This person is possibly deluded or experiencing psychosomatic symptoms, probably requiring some other intervention, but are they representative of the vast majority of transgender/transsexuals who medicate with HRT and/or had genital surgery? This troubles me because I don't think that is the case and dwelling on or mocking individuals doesn't strike me as particularly positive... just sayin'...

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 26/04/2018 10:48

Dd got herself in a muddle the other day and was talking about

MANSTRUATION

The boys and i were looking at her like this Hmm

LangCleg · 26/04/2018 10:45

Would any of these people want to mimic my menstrual cycle?

No pain or cramps, no mood imbalances, only know it's arrived by blood in my knickers, lasts three days max.

No. They wouldn't. Because it's boring and and in no way a source of validation of womanliness. By comparison 99% of women would say bloody hell, Lang, can I swap?

(I'm menopausal now but that was my cycle. Always saw it as having got off light on at least one aspect of womanhood.)

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 26/04/2018 10:43

Never had anything that described itself as zesty that didn't taste like disappointment.

Oh good lord Grin

Its so true

AngryAttackKittens · 26/04/2018 10:22

And yes, chest pains are always a "talk to a doctor" thing. If a person is, what's that word that I'm not supposed to use again? Oh yeah, deluding themselves that their symptoms mean that they're experiencing a period then that delusion is potentially harmful to their health, in that the symptoms they're rationalizing away could indicate potential health problems.

I'd rather people be offended and alive than feel validated and end up dead, personally.

AngryAttackKittens · 26/04/2018 10:19

Oh wow, I missed the part about mimicking our cycles...no, that does not make sense, in any way. Most of them don't even try to take hormones in a way that mimics a cycle, they take a steady dose all month long. For the ones mucking about with their dosage because they think doing so can mimic a menstrual cycle, that's a terrible idea and again, they should talk to a doctor.

Ereshkigal · 26/04/2018 10:18

It's as if every single women is responsible for feminism/Mumsnet,and one bad comment invalidates the whole thing.

This.

Noqonterfy · 26/04/2018 10:17

I got deleted for saying transwomen can't get pregnant

But they can't. Transmen can (wonder why 🤔) But transwomen can't. Simply not possible. The biology does not lie.

LaSqrrl · 26/04/2018 10:12

Backtracking to Maisy: it makes perfect sense to discuss the impact of female hormones on biological men (even open to the idea it may mimick some features of our cycles)

Not really. The word 'cycle' always implies one thing following another. The female cycle is roughly, an estrogen building then progesterone dominant cycle (the first part building the uterus lining, the second involved in shedding the lining if no implantation). Post-menopausal women with a uterus getting HRT have to have both hormones, post-menopausal women without a uterus only get (synthetic usually) estrogen. TIMs only ever get estrogen-only hormones, because... no uterus.

So how on earth can a female 'cycle' be mimicked with only one of those hormones and no uterus? Rhetorical question, because it cannot. Not even in females without a uterus only taking estrogen.

Face it, males really have zero idea of what a period is, how it feels, how it affects you outside the uterus. Only females who have menstruated, past or present, know what it involves.

I have to say, that one of the earlier comments listing what a TIM said in the way of symptoms (including chest pains), they should get to a doctor real quick. Although estrogen does actually protect the heart from heart attacks. But still, those symptoms were disturbing, but not in a menstruating way. It always amazes me that these people would risk disability to death in order to role-play.

Theinconstantgardener · 26/04/2018 10:10

Periods of insanity maybeGrin

AngryAttackKittens · 26/04/2018 10:07

If you are male and find that your abdominal area is becoming protuberant and enlarged...that's a beer belly, mate.

Merrykegs · 26/04/2018 10:05

I got deleted for saying transwomen can't get pregnant. I may have mentioned a particular person in my post.

Noqonterfy · 26/04/2018 10:02

Male bodies have periods eh? Who'd have thought it. Periods of insanity maybe. Menstrual periods? Less likely. Or were all those years of biology I did pure lies!

AngryAttackKittens · 26/04/2018 09:55

Being serious for a moment...if you (regardless of "gender identity") have unexplained abdominal pain, go see a fucking doctor. If you have a uterus and are any good at keeping track of time then the pain won't be unexplained. If it is, doctor! Could be anything from IBS to appendicitis.

GrooovyLass · 26/04/2018 09:52

To carry on with this tangent for a moment: DD and I shared a pink kitkat the other day. She (favourite kitkat is white chocolate, very sweet tooth) found it too bitter. I (favourite kitkat is dark chocolate, would rather have cheese than chocolate) found it too sweet and sickly. Make of that what you will.

I've showed those screenshots to a couple of people now and people are starting to see my way of thinking. I timidly approached the subject with a transwoman I know who was enraged that "fucking stupid TIMs could be so fucking stupid" - her words. She was so angry she was incoherent.

Terfulike · 26/04/2018 09:50

Well that went down like a lead balloon. Might you start a new thread called "Pink panther chocolate lovers". This thread is becoming seriously off point.

AngryAttackKittens · 26/04/2018 09:46

Pink Panther doesn't appear to have any genitalia, thus leading to the question of where little panthers come from.

Bowlofbabelfish · 26/04/2018 09:46

Tried the pink choc. Unimpressed.

Even the toddler spat it out. ‘Not good mama’

Into my hand, the charming little chap...

FairfaxAikman · 26/04/2018 09:42

Oh and if finance friend turns up I can properly chocolate geek.

Ever heard of Femme de Virunga chocolate? It grown by women, with profits sent back to help more women become cacao farmers.
