A woman was thrown out of a FB feminist group for challenging the idea that transwomen get periods.

apparently they DO get periods just without the small aspect of bleeding.

She was told that she was minimising transwomen's periods.

I do hope the Daily Mail pick up on this.

(Not a thought I'd ever had before)

'Deliberately using the wrong pronoun is an act of violence'

Here we have today's addition to my list of Most Bonkers Things I Have Heard

OohMavis · 25/04/2018 14:08

An act of violence would be punching them in the face.

Words aren't violence.

TerfinUSA · 25/04/2018 14:08

^ ignore the attempted derailer.

TransAuthor · 25/04/2018 14:05

Uterati - Deliberately using the wrong pronoun is an act of violence. You can talk about how you disagree with this person without stooping to misgendering.

Like, I also think it's a bit daft that a few trans woman talk about period like symptoms but hey, live and let live, huh? Some manage their hormone intake throughout the month and experience physical fluctuations in mood and other things.

But here's the point, so what? How does that mean you have the right to misgender her?

OohMavis · 25/04/2018 13:58

TRA: Stop minimising my period.

Also TRA: Your bleeding and lack of access to sanitary products are small aspects of your period.

I'm going to go lie down for a bit.

TheUterati · 25/04/2018 13:57

And Author - why all this appropriation of the biological functions of women's sexed bodies? Please just show people respect.

TheUterati · 25/04/2018 13:55

Author - the accuracy of referring to this person as he is relevant in order to demonstrate the utter impossibility of this person being pregnant and the depths of the delusion in the claim that this severe abdominal distension was a pregnancy.
At the time I consider that I showed respect for this person through my suggestions that urgent medical attention be sought. As I recall, at the time, it was the RFs amongst us who were making those suggestions, not those who supported this individual in these dangerous and delusional beliefs. I suggest, that the RFs were actually showing far more respect and concern for this individual.

ErrolTheDragon · 25/04/2018 13:55

'triggering to' certain women who didn't have periods.

Loads of women don't have periods (every post meno woman, for starters). Afaik none of them has ever had a problem with this 'triggering'.

Ritzsaltedcrackers · 25/04/2018 13:51

AsAProfessional, wasn't that some diversity officer in the police who complained to the supermarket concerned? Because, don't forget, some men have periods too!

'Not to mention utterly offensive to those women who have experienced miscarriage and still birth'

So true. It's actually sick

Ritzsaltedcrackers · 25/04/2018 13:50

I won't show respect for a person who appropriates women's bodily functions, minimises what can be significant monthly suffering as a 'small aspect' and abuses women who dare to question the insanity of what is being said. Sorry.

Please just show people respect.

There is a school of thought that respect needs to be earned. Appropriating and minimising uniquely female experience is not respectful.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 25/04/2018 13:46

I did see a person having an online tantrum because a pharmacy had a 'feminine care' aisle (obv including tampons) as this would offend/be 'triggering to' certain women who didn't have periods. Make your mind up!

It's an odd world.

KreigersClones · 25/04/2018 13:46

Batshit

TransAuthor · 25/04/2018 13:46

Why all this misgendering? Please just show people respect.

SluttyButty · 25/04/2018 13:45

I no longer have a uterus therefore I no longer have periods, it's that simple and I was born with a uterus Hmm

Except at least the wife Handmaids belonged to the reproductive class that could get pregnant and give birth......
Who knew that a non-pregnant woman pretending to give birth while a labouring woman does would actually score fewer points on the scale of delusion.....

Lottapianos · 25/04/2018 13:41

Uterati, that might be the most bonkers thing I have ever read. And there's stiff competition for these days. How can anyone be taking these people seriously? The attention seeking and ego and victim mentality is sickening

Delusional and also medically unwise. This guy posted photos of his distended abdomen. There was genuine and severe distension. It looked BAD. Several of us were exhorting him to seek medical attention. Nope. It was a pregnancy and he was going to be a beautiful mamma.

For the life of me I cannot remember his name. Will post link if I do....

Ritzsaltedcrackers · 25/04/2018 13:38

Reminds me of that scene in the Handmaid’s Tale where the handmaid is in labour and the wife is pretending to be too.
