One phrase guaranteed to wind me up is 'feminism has gone too far'. It glosses over reality in the most irritatingly oblivious manner.

Yes, it's a terrorist movement. Ticks all the boxes - sad, lonely, alienated, usually young men who have an exaggerated sense of entitlement and get radicalised online into believing that it's the fault of a category of people that their needs are not being met. Outbreaks of horrific violence which are then applauded online by the knobends who have been encouraging and reinforcing each other's twisted thinking. Very strong links with racism/white supremacy, too.

It is all very sad and twisted. What depreses me is that, while these extremists are actually pretty rare, a LOT of "normal"men have views that chime with the views of Incel nutters.
They wouldn't expect government provided girlfriends or use violent language about women, but they think "feminism has gone too far", they say "what about men" when you point out the scourge of male violence. It is seen as a reasonable position for city councillors to support red light districts in our cities which condone the selling of women.
It's there when my son's dad says that he can't find a girlfriend because women only want to date men with money. (Nah mate, they just want to date a guy with a job..)
Most men have some questionable ideas that make me think that they don't see women as people, and that they feel both entitled to access to attractive women, AND angry that women, as they see it, get to call all the shots

If anything encapsulates the way a proportion of men do not think women are people it’s the incel movement. Women to them should be dispensed for merely existing. They do not have the self awareness to understand that the reason women aren’t shagging them is because they are treating women like objects. They cannot think ‘hmm... is it me? Should I treat women with respect, like fellow humans?’

They are deeply inadequate men, who in the past would have managed because simply being born a white male meant you couldn’t fail. Now that the world is a tad more equal they have to compete against people (including women) and they don’t like it. They think they should be top of the tree by dint of existing. And should get a hot submissive chick like a handout.

This is exactly why misogyny needs to be a hate crime. This act was an act of hatred against women, for being women.

Urgh Incels, the very dregs of society who blame everyone else for the fact they can't make an effort with people, especially women - who should, by all accounts, be lining up offering their holes to men like them (who need not bother leaving their homes to even meet women).

I've read their forums on and off including the big blow up when they were banned and went off to that weird niche forum (can't remember the name right now, think it begins with a V). They are vile about women, they are vile about women because they loathe us. BUT we should be offered on tap to men by governments. There are a number of online destinations where incels gather and are radicalized. /pol/ on 4chan. r/incels on Reddit was popular before it was shutdown. They moved to r/braincels, but it's not as widely used. Also SlutHate, the forum where Elliot Rodger posted (formerly PUAHate)
