This trans forum has a long thread on Mumsnet. Seems they are actively lobbying companies to pull out advertising on Mn on the grounds of Mn allowing/supporting/encouraging hate and transphobia. After having a quck look, the Angels site seems to spout it’s on views on “terfs” which sound pretty hateful, possibly even misogynistic. I know both sides if the debate can go over the top and get pretty nasty - but, am i wrong to find many pisters there completely hypocritical in targetting Mn for the kind of comments and rhetoric similar to which they are accusing Mn of, not only accusing but trying to damage the site with haranguing the sites advertisers to pull out.

JC I don't believe you did. I think looking back with hindsight it may have been better if you had a brand new name but I know you didn't want to be duplicitous. I hope one day we see you back posting here.

ReluctantCamper · 23/04/2018 22:27

that's right Greymisty, and I admit to changing name when seeking advice about something particularly personal in the past (look, not an enlarged testicle OK?). it's good practice, like assuming all your work emails could be read by anyone in the company.

Greymisty · 23/04/2018 22:25

In regards to name changing is so people cant search the poster and find identifying details? I take it just adding numbers at the end of the name so the poster is still recogniseable wouldn't be good enough?

Jayceedove · 23/04/2018 22:23

I have screen captured nothing. I would not even know how to do it. I even had to google what it meant.

Now you see why I have stopped posting on both forums.

I only looked for common ground and understanding and found anything but.

ReluctantCamper · 23/04/2018 22:19

Yes to being in the open. The more people see this the better. No drama required, no hyperbole. the facts do the job for us.

#yesdebate

spontaneousgiventime · 23/04/2018 22:15

TallulahWaitingInTheRain I totally agree about posting out in the open. By doing that we prove we are not saying things we are accused of. I have no desire to post hidden away. While I keep my identity private due to concerns over TRA, I won't change my name (I like it).

ReluctantCamper · 23/04/2018 22:10

having advocated name changing I must say it confuses the hell out of me when people do it. When you think you might 'recognise' the voice of a poster by another name it's a strange feeling.

I understand why some need to do it though.

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 23/04/2018 22:07

reluctant thats not what i read

But i will stop joking now as I appreciate im derailing

I really don't want to look at other forums...i have enough bother keeping up with this one Smile

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 23/04/2018 22:06

It's important that anyone who fears being outed is careful not to post anything identifying.

But beyond that, I think the more of this conversation that's conducted in public the better. That way everyone can see what is really being said and by whom. We don't have anything to be ashamed of.

ReluctantCamper · 23/04/2018 22:04

disclaimer my DH does not have an enlarged testicle

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 23/04/2018 22:03

Eeerrrrrr

Lets make it the right one grey

Greymisty · 23/04/2018 22:00

Rufus next troll thread I'm on I'll try to casually slip in about your DH's enlarged testicle (should i make it left or right btw?) If it gets screenshot by an MRA or TRA and makes twitter/angel forum....well I'm sticking it on my CV as an accomplishment Grin

spontaneousgiventime · 23/04/2018 21:59

Oh they love 'Terfs' "The Group Of Women Who Harass Me More Than Men" - yup, it's TERFs

Nextloorejext · 23/04/2018 21:56

“That was surely sarcasm, not a serious post?”

Yes, that was sarcasm - they are happy to target mumsnets advertisers though - telling them how nasty and transphobic we are - whilst saying a lot of iffy stuff regarding womrn themselves - of course they think ssying “tetf” makes it legit.

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 23/04/2018 21:55

We should do it together grey and see how far it gets Grin

Greymisty · 23/04/2018 21:51

Rufus I might make up a DH just so I can start a rumour about his enlarged scrotum.

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 23/04/2018 21:48

don't post identifying details about your DH's enlarged testicle

He doesn't have one but i might start the rumour

spontaneousgiventime · 23/04/2018 21:47

I genuinely don't believe JC screenshot anything and took it over. Yes, she said she was posting here but some members of Angels knew anyway. I haven't seen a screengrab from MN over there (I don't check photo's/images posted so could be wrong, I just don't think i am. I fully accept some might be in the members only area but why bother? MN is a fully open platform.

ReluctantCamper · 23/04/2018 21:46

If we can't stand up to a little opposition then what's the point of us?

thebewilderness · 23/04/2018 21:44

ReluctantCamper
You probably will not be surprised that I do not care what you think about this method of shutting down Feminist Forums that has been so successful in the past.

ReluctantCamper · 23/04/2018 21:40

crikey, let's dial down the righteous indignation. people are dicks on the internet. so fucking what?

if you don't stand by what you say, don't post it.

if it's important that you remain anonymous name change frequently and don't post identifying details about your DH's enlarged testicle.

thebewilderness I would suggest that the chances of 1, 10 or 100 visitors from angels stopping you from making full use of your right to free speech on here is nil.

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 23/04/2018 21:37

That was surely sarcasm, not a serious post?

Reading more, I think it might be sarcastic.
At least I certainly hope so. The distance between our groups creates so much fear.

thebewilderness · 23/04/2018 21:34

Given the number of transgender advocates who have been welcomed to this forum in the name of free speech this pat week or two I do not think it an idle boast or sarcasm.
They harass us for long enough with impunity and the blessing of MNHQ and we will be silenced. That is how they wear people down till they can claim there is no opposition.

I am angry with JC because they knew what would happen when they screen capped here and shared it there and they did it anyway.

AssassinatedBeauty · 23/04/2018 21:24

That was surely sarcasm, not a serious post?

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 23/04/2018 21:21

“We control the politicians, we control the media, taking over Mumsnet should be simple enough”

Says it all really.
