Labour Party confirm that all women shortlists are open to anyone who IDs as a woman

They did not consult as promised, they did not discuss. They just decided.

Jennifer James has instructed her solicitors.

Fuck the Labour Party. That is the final nail in the coffin for me. Anyone got any ideas about how best to spoil the ballot next month?

Dear Labour,

Why don't you just send canvassers out with the instruction that if the door is opened by an adult female, the canvasser should shout 'Fuck off bitch, we don't want your vote' in her face.

Surely that would display a more open and honest standpoint than you current shenanigans.

I'll take my 25 year northern working class history of voting Labour and throw it out of the window, maybe Owen Jones can pick up the pieces of it as they blow south and write another nice book to bolster his Bromentum credibility.

I think it's good that they have confirmed this before next month's local elections. It would have been really underhand to have left this statement until after, as they had obviously made the decision months ago. I hope it gets some press attention.

I shan't be voting for science-denying authoritarians any time soon and, in a way, I'm glad they've doubled down on it. Now we all know where we stand and that Labour is not a party for women and girls.

Now to get the fools to accept that I've actually left, won't be coming back, and they need to hurry up and remove my data instead of continuing to email me when I've told them not to.

Personal attacks and meanness, of course no.

But reference to the publicly known sex of a person? Forbidden? Even if they reference it themselves?

I wish MNHQ would clarify this.

That's what I took from it Barracker. Generalised statement of fact = fine. Naming names = not so much.

My head tells me to stick it out so I get the chance to vote on things. My gut says to quit the party because they really don't give a shit what your average traditional Labour voter thinks. Middle class, lefty, commie-come-latelies who like to patronisingly talk about workers/watch Kez.

It does sound very much as if Labour want to dismantle All Women Shortlists. Presumably it does not suit them that more women are elected.

Fine. This woman will not be electing any Labour candidates. The party no longer represents me, and that actually hurts. Sad.
