In the wake of the conviction of Tara Wood.

You can expect to receive a 'brick to the teeth' and be 'curb stomped' if you disagree with men.

Men hate women. This is a new way to hate us. Left wing men have always needed us to keep back and quiet but back up their needs in numbers and votes.

SunsetBeetch · 17/04/2018 13:56

Welcome @MadBadDaddy nice to have you here Gin

MadBadDaddy · 17/04/2018 13:27

Cheers OvaHere, I feel welcome.

I usually haunt various Trans-boards but it was only after coming here the other day and seeing posters like YetAnotherTranswoman that I realised it wasn't just me that felt this way.

HairyBallTheorem · 17/04/2018 13:16

Since I'm at work Mad I'll offer you Brew rather than Wine

We've got quite a few regular trans posters on here who all say much the same as you: when did the TRAs take over, why are they being listened to in preference to the large majority of sane trans people out there, and how do we avoid their nuttiness leading to a backlash?

Like many other feminists on here I'm hoping we can have a reasonable debate and shore up trans people's rights to live free from harassment while maintaining women's rights, before things lurch to one extreme or the other - either the TRAs' position becomes enshrined in law and we lose all rights to sex-based protections which women need, or the far right stages a backlash which leads to massive discrimination and harassment of trans people.

OvaHere · 17/04/2018 13:12

Welcome MadBadDaddy thank you for your support.

I think all of us here know it isn't easy for trans individuals who hold independent views to navigate this debate.

There are a number of trans posters here regularly who are not happy with much of the activism done in their name.

Hi all thanks for the Wine and Cake earlier

The 'TRA's , and especially these bozos, do not represent the entire Trans community. I don't want to silence women, or bully or hurt anyone, and I'm sure I'm not alone. Lately I'm ashamed of what's being done and said in my name and then this video shows up, and tries to turn it into entertainment and lolz.

A few years ago, if I, as a Transperson, feeling morbidly curious one night, wanted to go looking for genuine hate online I really didn't have to look far. (TBH, most of the insults were nothing worse than I'd thought about myself at bad times). The difference now is that instead of some radical echo chamber message board out in the sticks, I just have to read the Metro or the Mail. I think that a lot of Trans-persons feel like I do a lot of the time - vulnerable, impressionable, fearful, and lately, in the Spotlight of Public Opinion. When did a struggle become a fight? When did a respectful plea become an entitled demand?

You can see how easily Trolled we are. My worry is that people like me are being conned or exploited by people who are not at all like me.

moonlight1705 · 17/04/2018 10:31

Did anyone watch the fab lecture by Mary Beard about the way in women have been silenced?

She essentially says that all hatred towards women on twitter etc is directed towards speaking / mouth / shut those women up. Does "brick to the teeth" and "kerb stomping" ring any bells then? No physical violence threatened to break the arms but rather make it that we cannot speak out.

Ellenripleysalienbaby · 17/04/2018 10:12

Yes, I guess these are people who use 'she' for someone who is most definitely 'he', so we shouldn't be surprised that they can't get 'your' and 'you're' correct.

AngryAttackKittens · 17/04/2018 10:09

"Your" being so mean, Ellen! Important musicians like these don't have time for silly little things like spelling, or grammar, or considering whether or not it's really appropriate to encourage their audience to commit crimes.

BarrackerBarmer · 17/04/2018 10:06

If this is in the wake of the conviction of Wood for violently assaulting Maria McLachlan, then the knowledge that the judge commented upon Maria 'misgendering' her male assailant turns this into a targeted threat of violence towards Maria to get a 'brick in the teeth' for her 'misgendering'.

The fact that they are crowing over a woman being beaten isn't enough. The TRAs are emboldened and feel they can threaten and carry out their threats with little more than a financial slap on the wrist that they publicise as 'victory'.

I use pronouns to reflect the biological sex of the subject. I will continue to do so. I do not recognise gender as real, and I will not be forced to pretend men can be the same sex as me. These thugs call this 'misgendering'.

Apparently these men want to brick me in that teeth because I 'deserve it'.

Which police force do I report them too?

Ellenripleysalienbaby · 17/04/2018 09:47

I am also trying to imagine the creative process by which it came about, like them sitting in a room, playing around with lyrics, seeing what sounds good.

'Oooooh yeah, brick to the teeth, love it. Right what else can we think of that's reeeeeeaaaaaalllllllyyyyy violent, Ooooh yes a kerb stomp, but I cant spell so ill write curb'.

They also don't know the difference between your and you're.

Ellenripleysalienbaby · 17/04/2018 09:42

Nextloorejext and Hypermice you have absolutely hit the nail on the head. This is the result of giving people other than white men a little bit more of the pie. When all you have ever known is privilege, equality feels like oppression etc.

I know this is out and out hate speech, but I say let is stay in YouTube. Let people see the absolute fuckwitter, this kind of shite will peak trans everyone. Let the sun shine on it, let people come to Mumsnet and see for themselves what we have been talking about.

The people I actually feel most sorry for are the regular transsexual people who have been living their lives perfectly peacefully and happily for years, and have had things ruined by these absolute twats.

AngryAttackKittens · 17/04/2018 09:17

It's hilarious how relentlessly negative they are. They need a song called Every Silver Lining Had Its Cloud.

Thanksforthatamazingpost · 17/04/2018 09:14

Welcome MadBadDaddy.

I am still laughing at the musical critique (certain terms I won’t google as It might spoil my morning)

Thanksforthatamazingpost · 17/04/2018 09:09

Rofl Lass

They do have a song called I Love my Dog - which initially was disappointing to find but reassuringly has the line "I love my dog but the rest of you can fuck right off"

Thanksforthatamazingpost · 17/04/2018 09:08

“expected to be angry at that but it was just a bit silly.

Reminded me of Phoebe from Friends, when she got would get angry and make up terrible songs.“

Rofl

AngryAttackKittens · 17/04/2018 08:26

There's a certain glee to a lot of the male ranting about TERFs that's hard to miss. They've been waiting for an opportunity to lash out at women and they're not about to miss this chance.

How safe would you feel around not just the men who wrote this song, but the ones in the audience, or who liked the video? All that rage bubbling away just waiting for an opportunity to explode. Like standing next to a volcano that has fists.

Hypermice · 17/04/2018 08:24

I think the T in my keyboard has hit peak trans... so many typos...

Hypermice · 17/04/2018 08:23

Also if you look at the white supremacists, the alt right - it’s all angry young white men who have been told they’re god like creatures in charge of everything and hen have got out into the world and realised that actually they have to compete against a female Indian software engineer, or a Male Jewish construction worker or a black female manager, all of whom are just out there doing their jobs well and existing happily on an increasingly level playing field.
And then they realise that the world doesn’t give you a job and respect just because you’re a white male - you have to earn it like everyone else. So they get mad.
And then they see that the universe doesn’t supply you with a hot submissive woman because women are actually people in their own right not prizes for existing and they get mad.
And they do t have he self awareness to realise that if they want these hinges they have to work for them just like everyone else does regardless of sex or race - they just blame it on he women who don’t want hem and the blacks people who don’t defer to them and the world thatdoeant see how brilliant they are.

And thus was born the alt right, red pill, return of kings and probably, Transactivisim.

Nextloorejext · 17/04/2018 08:22

Makes you wonder if enough men are unhappily (even unconsciously) bubbling away below the surface these past years at being forced to share and play nicely with the weaker sex that this chance to legitimately scream at women (and get a pat on the back for it) is just too tempting to pass on. I think the likes of Metoo and the many high profile rape cases like Ched Evans and the Ulster Rugby players where they’re actually having to confront the issues of consent and coercion, the thousands of false rape allegations ruining millions of innocent mens lives - it’s one thing giving women the vote but they actually want a say in how things are run as well.

Hypermice · 17/04/2018 08:16

if these guys were actually concerned about harm coming to trans people..

This baffles me too.

“We are afraid of the men’s toilets because men might be violent to us.”
“Well yes, men can be violent. Male violence is a big issue. Shall we talk about it and try to find a way for these men to be less violent? So that both women and trans women are safe? How can we tackle Male violence?”
“No actually we were planning on targeting women.”
“Ummmm.....”

The more of this stuff I see the more I’m convinced that What’s behind this is male dominance. I actually don’t think these people care one whit about keeping trans people safe (and everyone should be safe - no one should be under a threat of violence or live their lives in fear.) because it isn’t women committing violent acts against transwomen it just isn't.

So if Male violence against transwomen is the issue why the fuck are women being targeted? It’s insane. Until you realise that maybe it’s been the agenda all along and his whole thing is about men ‘taking their rightful place’ at the top of the pile.
Note it’s generally white males as well. To me it’s a bunch of people who are used to being in charge of everything, who have realised that actually, the playing field has levelled a bit and that now people of colour and god forbid, women, are a little bit more equal and they’re having a massive tantrum about it. With added violence.

Sarahconnor1 · 17/04/2018 08:09

Nothing more woke than lefty men singing (well attempting to sing) about smashing a womans teeth in.

It was mentioned on a different thread that this feels like a male power grab. The current climate is allowing men to be misogynistic arses and get away with it.

AngryAttackKittens · 17/04/2018 08:00

Thing is, if these guys were actually concerned about harm coming to trans people they could have written a song about the men who murder trans people, or beat them up. But is that who they're fantasizing about enacting brutal punishment upon?

Nah. Who cares about violent men when you have unruly, disobedient women to threaten in the hopes of making sure that the rest of the women fall in line and never dare to defy you again?

SuburbanRhonda · 17/04/2018 07:57

I’m a member of Bandcamp - I’ll see if I can find out more about the kind of content they’re happy to host.

SuburbanRhonda · 17/04/2018 07:55

Was totally unaware of kerb stomping then saw American History X years ago. That scene has stayed with me all these years as on of the most horrific things I’ve seen on screen.

Exactly the same here. I wish I could un-see it.
