TRA infiltration

How much do you suspect the tra's have infiltrated Mumsnet? I am in a group on Facebook and we have been discussing this and are very worried that we may lose this forum, it would appear Mumsnet sponsors are being targeted and money counts. What can we do? I have seen a tightening up of trans talk, which I'm not saying isn't a good thing as tra's seem to be adopting a cleaner approach, Lily Madigan is, by saying her followers shouldn't use Terf etc. To be perfectly honest I have not seem any transphobia on Mumsnet, but still we are being targeted....... What to do to ensure we can carry on discussing this issue??

I was joking about sunglasses and hats, sixties spy film style and the meetings are very “ ‘allo ‘allo I shall say this only weurnce” but whilst meetings are being shut down and people’s place of work is being approached, sponsorship being withdrawn on spurious evidence and there is a climate of fear and hate going on that is the only way forward. If those in government would take their fingers out of their ears and stop adding to the insults on twitter then it might change.

It would probably help if the police were not travelling the length of England to set up test cases too.

They had their facebook group in their username for a long time and it's mumsnet policy to not allow self promotion of that kind. It's also policy of mumsnet if you are banned once you stay banned even with a new username.

Pratchet · 13/04/2018 09:50

It's hard to trust people, but we are forever taunted about our anonymity.

Terfragette69 · 13/04/2018 09:29

The person who set up the Facebook group keeps getting banned from Mumsnet... Even when not mentioning the group. We Have been Infiltrated and I'm not even joking. This is very scary and sinister.

Terfragette69 · 13/04/2018 09:26

OK fair enough. In my experience it's nothing sinister at all, just discussions and in light of the current climate where we are in danger of losing our refuge on Mumsnet it's important we have another outlet for discussion which the tra's can't infiltrate..... Sure they will try though...... 🙄

Probably best to eat your message after it has been read. Grin

0phelia · 13/04/2018 09:22

I just felt uneasy that it crossed a line.

Terfragette69 · 13/04/2018 09:18

Confused...

OP posts:
Terfragette69 · 13/04/2018 09:17

Yes that one. Can I ask why you left the group?

OP posts:
0phelia · 13/04/2018 09:17

8 am in it Grin that must be secret code right?

0phelia · 13/04/2018 09:16

Do you mean the CATT group? I already joined (and left) that one.

Terfragette69 · 13/04/2018 09:14

It's all getting a bit ww2.... Aka writing in code and the resistance..... My head hurts.....

OP posts:
Terfragette69 · 13/04/2018 09:11

There is a secret Facebook group, 8 am in it, Posie and quite a few others from Mumsnet. They are trying to discredit us and bring us down, please don't let them! Pm me for info on the secret Facebook group. They will be trying to infiltrate that too.

My Twitter account was closed, it had misbehave it seems, though how I don't know as I am hardly given to writing personal abuse. So I can't follow what's going on in this thread. I have reported the obvious troll.

R0wantrees · 13/04/2018 09:04

It serves two purposes the first is obvious, to discredit MN and those women who post here. The second though perhaps less considered, is that other people who are transgender believe the lies/propaganda that they are hated/ their existence under attack. In terms of manipulation and potential harm, the second concerns me more!

0phelia · 13/04/2018 09:00

Or terf.

Melamin · 13/04/2018 08:58

If I think about it, it is probably a word that I have only ever heard on auntie beeb and its sitcoms and light entertainment. It is not something I have heard discussed irl.

Ereshkigal · 13/04/2018 08:49

A lot of them are quite old before trans issues were so much in the spotlight. Many of them are people quoting other sources. I have certainly rarely seen the word here. And imagine it would be reported and deleted most of the time. I agree it's a slur and not excusing it, but in the past it was quite a common word for a transvestite, so I don't think it was always perceived by the general population as bad. Plus many transsexual people do refer to themselves as such. There is at least one in the quoted posts. And someone saying "I thought it was an affectionate term", so clearly not done in malice.

I wonder what would happen if we ran a search, on any social media site, for the words "slag", "bitch" or "whore"?

DisturblinglyOrangeScrambleEgg · 13/04/2018 08:46

I find it bloody odd that they've blanked out the names - we're all anonymous here anyway, and if the people saying this stuff were regulars, I'd have thought they'd want to talk about that. Leads me to suspect that if they showed the names, and if those names were searched, perhaps those people wouldn't have been around very long....

Melamin · 13/04/2018 08:43

I am sure if you put in a search for any word it will come up with something. Some of those posts were meant ironically and at least one was a quote of a source and as I said, they go back to 2010.

Circle, I wish you well with your real life problems. Your posts have been good and I have enjoyed having you around.

I suspect that if the current trial outcome is guilty and as a result of the failure to block last night’s meeting there might be more of this digging for dirt. It would be better to engage and come up with something workable but their campaigners would rather grub around for insults if l cashman’s tweet is anything to go by.

0phelia · 13/04/2018 08:42

Those comments are definitely not from Feminist Chat, one is talking about changing bank accounts and then looking at t**y porn Confused
Not that it matters terribly.

0phelia · 13/04/2018 08:34

Melamin
Ah thanks I can see the tweets after logging out.

So it looks like a collection of posts containing the word t**y.

These posts must be from aibu or chat because that word is rarely used in FWR chat.... but it is used in the real world and used particularly by men in the real world....

They should try searching Reddit fgs they'd come out far worse.

Gender critical feminists have tried to do the same thing to TRAs as in screenshot the abuse and slurs they use against women. An account called "exposing trans activists" did just this but got mysteriously closed down... but we can and will still call them out for their abuse against women which frankly is far worse.

Everytime they say "die terf scum" or whatever people see this.

They will intimidate and slur and threaten it's what they do, but as we grow stronger they have to use harder tactics and this is what we are seeing now. And the HOC sees them too now.

We can see them and it's far from a "win" on their part. (Not that I see it as a win/lose thing myself).

Ecriture · 13/04/2018 06:17

@poshme
My posts come up as red and the OPs green but you're on the right track.

It means that they are definitely users with logins. So this tweeter is either a previous MN user or has joined the site with the intention of dragging up dirt.

As one user said, some of the posts go back to 2010. I can only assume that the tweeter did an advanced search for the 't' word and this is what they found.

I'm not going to debate or defend those posts because I have not seen the context of the entire thread and I think the debate or conversation has substantially moved since 2010.

I also understand that while transvestitism still exists in some forms and some people don't object to being referred to using that term, many people do and it's usage is becoming outdated.

Therefore, they not want to associate or identify themselves with that word (or the 't' moniker) as it does not reflect their experience or their categorisation of themselves. For the purposes of civil debate, point accepted.

However, I think this is an awful shame that someone has done this and gone this far to prove this point and attempted to shame this site to an external audience.

This site about more that feminist chat. There are many many users of all genders who draw help from this site-anything from budgeting in a crisis to leaving abusive relationships.

Behaving in such an inflammatory and deceitful fashion is debasing the large section of the trans community who want to live their lives undisturbed.

It also serves to silences the ones that may want to add their experiences to the debate.

Unfortunately, like many other marginalised communities, the actions of one member can be seen as the actions of the many. This makes non-trans people less likely to listen and aborb the views of the diverse community which also exists outside of Twitter and has existed for hundreds of years before this modern bubble.

My point is ultimately, this behaviour does a great disservice to many.

The tactics that have been used in the push to shut down debate are very deceitful. This includes using edited information as propaganda, misrepresentation of the facts, going as far as tweeting supermarkets and info bombing. All very 1984. Most people don't have the time to and won't read everything and deconstruct it.

So it just looks like those nasty women are being mean again. What a disservice they do this site.

Should supermarkets become political and divided along ideological lines? Only liberals can shop in co-op? Christian conservatives in sainsburys?

Of course not, very worrying and ridiculous.

I understand fighting for your own personal rights but people like tweeter this don't seem to understand the ripple effect of their actions which has far reaching consequences outside of this debate.

I would urge others to read the tweets. It's up to others but I wouldn't respond as it would only fuel the flames.

I have tried to remain moderate and as intellectual as possible but I am deeply frustrated at this term of events.

Thank you MN for giving us a platform and a space for this long. It is much appreciated.

poshme · 13/04/2018 03:18

Ah ok.

OvaHere · 13/04/2018 02:38

Green is the colour of the OP. I see mine as purple.
