Any one see this?

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/04/12/radical-feminist-warned-refer-transgender-defendant-assault/

The asked that preferred pronouns be used

Ms MacLachlan replied: "I'm used to thinking of this person who is a male as male."

@LangCleg Good point! When Ada said 'we must show no mercy', I assumed something a bit more dramatic than.. a ladylike making of cups of tea.

Ereshkigal · 13/04/2018 18:50

It's just incredible that people calling themselves feminists object to locking up violent men (or people, I suppose). It shows how far some branches of feminism have been warped.

YY.

Ereshkigal · 13/04/2018 18:49

It means Dr Cable is trying to position specifically gender critical women as part of the oppressor class over trans identified males within a marxist framework. I think!

extract feminised labour from trans women

Wasn't that the ones Ada was making hundreds of cups of tea for?

LangCleg · 13/04/2018 18:47

I think carceral is rapidly becoming one of my least favourite words.

Juells · 13/04/2018 18:45

I don't know either

NotTerfNorCis · 13/04/2018 18:44

@Juells I puzzled over that bit. What does it mean? Extract feminised labour? Or maybe I don't want to know.

Ereshkigal · 13/04/2018 18:44

Martin Ponting?

Juells · 13/04/2018 18:43

NotTerf...I'd feel a bit uneasy poking fun at that person.

yes, there are structural reasons these people exist and they are part of economic processes to extract feminised labour from trans women.

Grin

To read that, you'd think Maria had just been thrown in jail, rather than, er - Tara Wolf being found guilty of assault by battery.

Batshit.

niddy · 13/04/2018 18:38

Flowers Maria. Surely being forced in a court of law to collude in blatant biological non-truths under oath must have others questioning the whole issue of GI and the broader, potential implications...Surely? Confused

NotTerfNorCis · 13/04/2018 18:36

I love this guy. Hilarious! twitter.com/drcab1e/status/984826356621078531

Resisting terfs at every stage and in every space is essential. Mostly that's not about confronting them, but about challenging their racist, carceral and queerphobic ideology, and building better without them.

But when we have to confront them, we can show no mercy.

So make no mistake, this was not a victory won lightly: I alone have made hundreds of cups of tea providing support to those working on defeating terf bigotry

picklemepopcorn · 13/04/2018 18:34

Ive tried and tried to find it. Thought it might have been David/Davina Ayrton, but can't find the reference.

Ereshkigal · 13/04/2018 18:23

Wasn't it the double rapist who got sent to a woman's prison without bottom surgery?

picklemepopcorn · 13/04/2018 18:17

Mimpi, I can't find the case, but I remember being shocked.

AnitaLovesVictor · 13/04/2018 18:02

It's actually an MRAs wet dream that.

AnitaLovesVictor · 13/04/2018 18:02

I'd bet a lot of money it'll be recorded in female crime figures.

It's the ultimate slap in the face. Male violence recorded as female crime.

Floisme · 13/04/2018 18:00

Will it be recorded as a male or female crime? I'm more concerned about that than the actual sentence.

MimpiDreams · 13/04/2018 17:37

Yes, as an autistic person that concerns me too. It perpetuates the myth that autism=violence when normally it's the other way round.

TerfsUp · 13/04/2018 17:24

I am glad to hear of the guilty verdict but share SporadicSpartacus's dismay over the use of autism as a mitigating factor.

That said, the guilty verdict is good news.

MimpiDreams · 13/04/2018 17:21

It has happened where a young woman (girl?) was told to refer to her rapist as she. Disgusting. RIDICULOUS.

Has it?

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 13/04/2018 17:13

Flowers for Maria

OvaHere · 13/04/2018 17:09

According to MayDay4Women the Judge took into account Maria's inconsistent use of the preferred pronouns in court when sentencing.

WTF - how is that relevant or legal in UK law?
