Any one see this?

www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2018/04/12/radical-feminist-warned-refer-transgender-defendant-assault/

The asked that preferred pronouns be used

Ms MacLachlan replied: "I'm used to thinking of this person who is a male as male."

That to me was one of the oddest things about the decision.
The statement that W was going out to do what W did was disregarded by the judge in spite of the fact that they organized specifically to harass women who were meeting at Speakers Corner.
Clear premeditation.

Crisp, gotta admire the tenacity. Do you feel you may be amongst people who are wiling to talk or are we all still haters?

You don't have to answer that because I realise it may cross your boundaries. And boundaries are important.

crispbuttyfan · 14/04/2018 19:38

Barrack yeah I have seen the videos, I have seen Maria approach the group to film them, I have also seen her behaviour on a trans group page earlier in the day. Needless to say Tara was bang out of order.

The judge didn't simply refuse compensation because of the pronouns, he also said

"However, Judge Grant refused to grant Ms Maclachlan any compensation, saying: "Compensation would not be appropriate, particularly due to the unhelpful way in which the victim was present [at the protest] and the way she was filming.

"She was asked at different stages not to film but continued to do so."

So he took the fact he considered her to be provoking into account, if she had been an innocent bystander she would have been awarded compensation, but it wasn't as simple as that.
the seems to be a bit of re-spinning and re-interpreting going on.

It seems to me the correct result, and the judge correctly called the behaviours of both Tara and Maria.

thebewilderness · 14/04/2018 19:34

Someone is going to change their name to innocent and insist they be addressed thusly.

RogerAllamsFangirl · 14/04/2018 18:29

Artemis you might ask the Guides campaign team how they got signatures for their letter.

BarrackerBarmer · 14/04/2018 18:17

That the price of receiving compensation is to be nice and compliant and lie under oath about your attacker. Commit perjury to get compensation. Refuse, get no compensation for your battery and risk contempt of court.

But for wouldbe attackers the going rate to beat up a woman is £400.

ArtemisRhodes · 14/04/2018 17:31

SORRY, TYPO

should read:

"to clarify that from now on women assaulted by men who then turn up in court wearing lipstick are obliged to perjure themselves by referring to them as female. "

I guess we'll have to start a Change.org unless someone can tell me a better way to collect the names?

ArtemisRhodes · 14/04/2018 17:29

Myself and many other women have pointed out that the judge ordered Maria to perjure herself.

We have a legal person on board and are about to begin a petition to be sent to the appropriate legal authority in the UK to clarify that from now on women assaulted by men are obliged to perjure themselves by referring to them as female.

I guess we'll have to start a Change.org unless someone can tell me a better way to collect the names?

picklemepopcorn · 14/04/2018 15:30

Thank you pencils. I also see coordination, and experience of using placards to obstruct other people.

Sickening.

Crispbutty, what do you see?

Datun · 14/04/2018 15:28

Ah, that's it. I knew it had something to do with the camera.

Maria is a very fit woman. She works out and isn't easily intimidated.

Women physically defending themselves is dangerous if you have a group of men determined to batter them.

PencilsInSpace · 14/04/2018 15:24

Maria's full account, with all 3 original videos is here.

But, seriously, much has been made of the fact that I fought back instead of just meekly handing over my camera. When one of Tara Flik Wood aka Wolf’s partners in crime finally succeeded in wrestling the camera from me, I held on to him to stop him running off with it. When he threw it to the ground and I heard the crack of it breaking, I pulled his hood down to expose his face in the hope someone would get a picture. Contrary to the nonsense being spread online, at no time did I have him in a headlock! He struggled to get away but I held him tightly, he tried kicking and I kicked back. (I just love Magdalen Berns’ description that he seems to think he’s in a mosh pit!) I eventually lost my hold on him when Tara and his mate with the ponytail ran up and started thumping me. I ended up on the ground and they scuttled off like the pathetic cowards they are.

picklemepopcorn · 14/04/2018 15:20

Ok. She has lost the camera already, but is quite understandably holding on to the sweatshirt of the person who took it from her and threw it on the ground. Possibly trying to hold them long enough for someone to be get a look at the person's face.

picklemepopcorn · 14/04/2018 15:10

Thank you. I'm off to watch it again. At first sight, it's hard to credit anyone can see her as the aggressor. Gaslighting.

Datun · 14/04/2018 14:47

I'm not sure which bit that is, pickle. It's ages since I watched it. Maria holds onto the thief to stop him getting hold of her camera which has been thrown to the ground, as far as I remember.

This was taken as an act of aggression by Maria. Not the act of theft prevention, that it was.

picklemepopcorn · 14/04/2018 14:40

So, when it looks like Maria is behind camera thief, holding on to her, they are connected by the camera strap?

NotAgainYoda · 14/04/2018 14:39

£400 for launching yourself, fists flying, at a woman.

I had a lump in my throat watching that

picklemepopcorn · 14/04/2018 14:35

Thank you!

BarrackerBarmer · 14/04/2018 14:20

I'm about to go out but search YouTube for speakers corner attack. I know they kept getting deleted but I think some are still up.
There were several taken from different angles and some with freeze framed commentary.

Miranda had some on his channel, not sure if they are still there

picklemepopcorn · 14/04/2018 14:16

Can you link, Barracker? I've not seen a decent video.

AngryAttackKittens · 14/04/2018 11:13

I wonder what the judge would have done if when he demanded that Maria call Wolf "she" Maria had said "but that's perjury".

BarrackerBarmer · 14/04/2018 11:09

Have you watched the videos, crispbuttyfan?

It sounds like you haven't.

After the attack I spent a fair chunk of time watching them and freeze framing to work out who was doing what to whom.

Women were meeting to go to a secret venue.
TRAs had closed down the venue with threats.
Forcing the women to meet at Speakers Corner to receive little pieces of paper with the new venue on.
The TRAs then spent the day tracking down where the women were meeting so that they could harass them. The convicted assaulted posted his threat. I watched their conversations on FB.

And then the three main attackers (watch the videos) hid behind placards to put up hoodies and run out to attack Maria.

Some TRAs were filming the women and maria was filming them right back.

The judge was right to convict of assault.
But deserves condemnation for refusing the assault victim compensation because she wouldn't call her male attacker she in court.

Justice does not decide that victims can only be compensated if they are submissive and nice to their attackers IN COURT.

flowersonthepiano · 14/04/2018 11:05

Yes, she was 'unhelpful'. How fucking dare she?

AngryAttackKittens · 14/04/2018 11:01

Being a woman who wasn't there to support a man. Should be illegal, that.

AnitaLovesVictor · 14/04/2018 10:57

I believe it was "being a woman at Hyde Park Corner."

Pesky bloody women. They're everywhere now, aren't they?
