(Not angry with MNHQ, I should add. Angry with those using intimidation to bully and silence.)

This thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3218790-what-s-your-gender-light-hearted?pg=1 is about to be pulled. I can understand just about understand why - it's an illustration of the pressure MNHQ are under - but it makes me angry.

I'm not coming at this issue from an academic POV, but as the mother of teenage daughters. The absurdity of the influences they are under is truly disturbing, and threads like that help navigate uncharted waters while retaining some semblance of humour and with the reassurance of not being alone.

Parenting teenagers has never been easy. It's harder now than ever. I started posting on these boards as a result of the divisions gender identity issues had opened up in my family, and I hate that a source of support is being shut down, because (I assume) of intimidation and threat.

That's fair enough. I thought it might be that.

MNHQ is trying to reduce the influx of goady people trying to provoke angry responses with the end aim of stopping the gender critical debate on FWR. They're doing their best to protect us. A good thing, I think.

I've noticed this for a long time re FWR. I think that we should give mumsnet a break about this. I can understand why they don't want Active threads to be swamped, even though I think this is so important.

I assumed op meant 'active threads' where new threads appear, rather than the most active/trending box on the desktop?

It's not 'most active' any more though. It was changed to 'trending' some time ago. Trending is the threads with the most hits, not most recent posts.

It's why threads that had been pulled still get appear i. trending as people click the title, only to find that there is no thread, eg MMC title still in trending right now although thread was pulled about half an hour ago.

No, I'm wrong. The education thread is now on active, although I wasn't twenty minutes ago. I'm hiding lots of threads, but this one isn't appearing in my active.

That is so unbelievably sad about trolls and the SEN threads being hidden

But hiding FWR is not a solution to ‘too many trans threads’ in FWR in a site where anyone can start a thread in on whatever they want. (..Not saying that you’re saying it is)

It could be a response to TRA calls to silence women, but I thought MN wanted to allow this discussion? Many of us have literally no other place to discuss this.

I don't think some of the education threads are showing either. But can't remember which topics I've hidden, so that might be just me

SEN hasn't been in active for years as far as I'm aware. I recall a thread years ago where parents were asking for it not to show in active due to unsupportive comments from parents of Neurotypical children.

As MN are under pressure from MN users and external groups to close down the threads on FWR, I presume that's why threads aren't showing in active

SEN is missing from active (I think) because parents would start a thread re their child and people would come along and say it's not a problem, it doesn't matter that your child can't write age 7.

It happened years ago with the consent of parents.

I know people on the site have complained about the FWR board always being trans, MN are being pressured for allowing talk re the consequence of Self ID, so....

SEN threads are deliberately not shown in active, because they were attracting a load of trolls. Unbelievable, but there you go.It was decided to try and give people posting about their dc's SENs a bit more privacy- it's a very supportive place.

OTBT (Off the beaten track) also doesn't show up in active, or google searches.

I've noticed this the last two days. Could be a tactic to prevent people stumbling onto threads and then complaining about them.

People noticed SEN threads were missing from active too. Maybe it's a glitch?

I have reported this thread to @MNHQ with the following text:

The OP is right, there should be at least 2 FWR threads in active based on their most recenbt posting time. Can you explain what's going on here?

There’s threads in Active (multiple style and beauty ones!) that haven’t been posted on for a hour. My very recent post to Feminism chat is not showing in Active. Eh? Why not?

Maybe this is for evenings only?
