By which I mean continued protection of women/girl-only spaces (physical spaces, services, organisations, stats, programmes) on a sex-not-gender basis.

I would.

Because nearly everything else follows from maintaining that distinction.

They would need to make a stand against self ID.

changeypants · 09/04/2018 13:20

nothing wrong with intersectional and inclusive!

its the appropriated and bastardised versions of those theories and stances that i object to

Winewinewinegin · 09/04/2018 13:18

Personally I think all parties need to be inclusive if they are going to action real change. The WEP actively includes men (as so it should)

I agree. This is very different though from saying in law and otherwise that the diverse groups represented are the same as each other.

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 09/04/2018 13:17

I think they , like the Green Party, should be a single issue campaign group, not a political party.

I actually agree with this. They are unlikely to ever get any MPs. I think they would make more impact as a professional lobbying group.

Nuffaluff · 09/04/2018 13:16

I would definitely consider it.

PositivelyPERF · 09/04/2018 13:16

It would be better to campaign in areas where the more gender critical party's candidate could get in

That sounds good in theory, but you’re still handing your vote to the party that has betrayed you. Words are cheap and no matter what an individual politician tells me, unless they’re actually going to be publicly vocal about self id, then they’re no help.

RedHoodGirl · 09/04/2018 13:15

WEP founder Catherine Mayer wrote this (so I would anticipate that the party will remain firmly intersectional and inclusive).

Personally I think all parties need to be inclusive if they are going to action real change. The WEP actively includes men (as so it should), as following in the footsteps of Emma Watson and the #HeForShe campaign, everyone should be working together towards women’s equality.

NotAgainYoda · 09/04/2018 13:13

Yes I would.

Yes, definitely. I'd love that (but they won't do it!)

changeypants · 09/04/2018 13:11

yes, so would my partner

ex labour

IndominusRex · 09/04/2018 13:10

100% yes

Winewinewinegin · 09/04/2018 13:08

It would be better to campaign in areas where the more gender critical party's candidate could get in than field a WEP candidate against a AWS candidate to make a point.

LaundryLaundryLaundry · 09/04/2018 13:05

Yes, and I would be willing to donate towards the cost of fielding candidates in as many constituencies as possible - with priority given to areas where there are high-profile TIMs in AWS roles.

LostMyLunchMoney · 09/04/2018 13:01

Yes - but I would need to see a good few strong gender critical women in positions of influence to give me confidence that we're not just being fed a lie to get our support before shoving us back under the self-id bus.
I've just left the Lib Dems after 20 years and am finding the political homelessness and sense of betrayal surprisingly hard to deal with.

LassWiADelicateAir · 09/04/2018 13:00

No, but I would never have joined them or voted for them. I think they , like the Green Party, should be a single issue campaign group, not a political party.

The Green Party in Scotland for example is now a hard left party propagating class war. My perception of them, is they say very little about green issues and far too much about separatism.

NeverLovedElvis · 09/04/2018 12:52

Not sure about joining, but id definitely vote for any party that takes this stance.

FloraFox · 09/04/2018 12:51

If they take a clear position against self-ID and protection of women as a class plus a clear Nordic model position I would definitely vote for them and consider joining.

WEP should understand that we are their natural constituency. The libfem “intersectional” crowd will never prioritise women enough to vote based on women’s issues.

daysofpearlyspencer · 09/04/2018 12:49

I would like to however I will never accept that a transwoman is a woman the same as me

MsMcWoodle · 09/04/2018 12:44

Probably.

CecilyNeville · 09/04/2018 12:44

Yes, I would consider it.

HawkeyeInConfusion · 09/04/2018 12:39

Possibly. I have no political home at the moment (given the stance of both labour and the LibDems). But I'd need to be sure that they meant it and were going to stick with it.

R0wantrees · 09/04/2018 12:37

I have held off cancelling membership... and have been watching recent posts with interest

hungryhippie · 09/04/2018 12:37

Yes ,I definitely would

Winewinewinegin · 09/04/2018 12:37

Currently, on this issue, conservatives have most positive pro-women's rights stance.

Every party missed issues of impact on women and girl's rights. However, they seem to be aware of this and keen on keeping same sex exemptions. They haven't closed down discussion across the board and expelled members who state their opinion on women's rights.

So currently they would get my vote.

Labour really need to sort themselves out, voters aren't stupid.
