Spot on Boat.

boatyardblues · 02/04/2018 17:33

They might as well have written, A woman's place is on her knees sucking a man's dick.

I shouldn't be laughing, but that post ^ is spot on. It is bitter laughter, though.

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 02/04/2018 17:31

A woman’s place is supporting her Scorpio colleagues.

MrsTerryPratchett · 02/04/2018 17:26

The whole point of the "A Woman's Place" slogans is that they subvert the original idea of a woman's place being in the home supporting her husband while he does all the important things. They just basically turn it back to its original sexism.

^ This this this this this. Grrrrrr.

Destinysdaughter · 02/04/2018 17:21

Destinysdaughter · 02/04/2018 17:19

There's a thread at the moment about how do you deal with becoming invisible in middle age, I tell you what, I'm glad I'm older and not subject to this bullshit as a young woman. Sorry I have nothing more useful to say, just sick of it all...

MargeH · 02/04/2018 17:18

Ha ha. I bet the person who was on Sefton NUT Twitter duty over Easter is crapping themselves right now at the backlash.

Destinysdaughter · 02/04/2018 17:16

I'm too old for this bullshit. It's not like we don't have enough other issues to be dealing with, like equal pay, sexual assault, DV and FGM etc. This feels like a huge and unnecessary distraction. Some days I'm up for the fight and others I think, how have women's rights gone back since the eighties FFS??? Angry

merrymouse · 02/04/2018 17:13

I think genders, chakras and auras need exactly the same amount of regulation.

NotTerfNorCis · 02/04/2018 17:12

Haha yes I've had to stop reading it. Angry

terryleather · 02/04/2018 17:11

NotTerf

Every one of the tweets on that muppet's thread is more ignorant and ridiculous than the next.
The whole thing made me want Gin and Wine - at feckin 10 o'clock in the morning!

Parklife!

NotTerfNorCis · 02/04/2018 17:10

Also: But even out of context not centring “reproductive systems” in feminism is important because we shouldn’t reduce gender to biology. Isn’t that the whole bloody point of feminism?! “One is not born a woman”

She was talking about socialisation, she didn't mean someone born with a penis could become a woman you nitwit!!!!

Angry
NotTerfNorCis · 02/04/2018 17:00

@terryleather

From that thread you linked:

'Let’s let that sink in first: gender is being medically and psychologically regulated. Imagine: someone an “expert” about YOUR identity that’s not actually YOU. That pathologises and strips autonomy, and provides strict rules about what gender “means” and “how” you must do it'

Now substitute race /age/any other biological condition for gender and see how that plays.

(Is what I wish I could say to her.)

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 02/04/2018 16:57

A Woman's Place. On a t-shirt worn by a man.

Or a woman or a fucking giraffe for that matter.

WHERE ARE THEIR BRAINS?

newtlover · 02/04/2018 16:38

there used to be a union of women teachers (NAS/UWT)

user1487175389 · 02/04/2018 16:21

Supporting them to do what? They're not usually disabled. They have all human rights accorded to citizens of their country. They're men. What could they possibly need from us?

MrsWooster · 02/04/2018 16:16

Another thread has just been put on saying Kiri Tunks, gender critical, has just been elected leader of the NUT part of NEU so hopefully there'll be no truck with this ol' shite.

merrymouse · 02/04/2018 15:53

Why are trans people my ‘comrades’ and not men’s comrades, and is this just trans women or also trans men? Do female Tory MPs get to be my comrades too, and if not, what about conservative trans people? Are gay men more or less my comrades? Is Eddie Izzard my comrade when he is dressed as a man, but not as a woman? Has Caitlin Jenner become my comrade now? Why?

So many questions.

PollyBanana · 02/04/2018 15:39

It's a very unifying slogan.
EVERYONE hates it!

MrsWooster · 02/04/2018 15:29

Fuck that shit! A union is its members, not an autonomous entity that gets to virtue signal the Koolaid fuelled fantasies of a few. When they ask us, the members, for a line on where a woman's place is, they can print that on a t-shirt.

Their suggestion that it is ok because it's having a go at WPUK and that's ok as it's a different union's member that started it is insane, as the NUT (as was) has campaigned for us all to be one powerful union of which NEU is the first step. Perhaps we should go for a separate women's union..?

QuentinSummers · 02/04/2018 15:28

Me too Terry

MrsFogi · 02/04/2018 15:22

God help our children - this is from the National Union of Teachers!!!! Can we hope for the Mermaids guidance to be tweeted next to assist those women who know their place and are going to get on with supporting the cause?

Ereshkigal · 02/04/2018 15:14

Please please please Terry Grin I'm having a twitter break today!
