Christina Patterson has been a little bit unsung in all of this. She's done it before, and I can't think of any person who has, in TV or radio, said 'transwomen are not women'.

HumphreyCobblers · 01/04/2018 12:28

I am hoping very much that this will prove to be an own goal, but I am scared it won't.

The outrageousness of investigating a group of women discussing proposed changes to a law that affects them SHOULD be apparent to all, but recent events might indicate otherwise.

Fingers crossed.

ReappearingWoman · 01/04/2018 12:24

Christina Patterson has said similar on the news paper review in the past - she gets it, she understands the issues & good on her to commit to finishing her point & not allow herself to be shut down.

She'll likely get a pile on over this but I'm glad she's said her piece.

AreYouTerfEnough · 01/04/2018 12:17

It’s good in a way as it demonstrates what women are up against just for trying to meet to discuss genuine concerns.

The GRA is one of the most ill thought out pieces of legislation ever. Putting half the population at risk just to accommodate da feelz is like something out of Idiocracy.

woohoo rowdywoman

OldCrone · 01/04/2018 12:13

Just watched that Christina Patterson clip. Telling it like it is, and refusing to be shouted down by the man.
'I could declare myself to be a unicorn. I don't believe that what you declare yourself to be automatically means you are'.

Thanks for the Sky link. Well said, that woman.

And thanks to #transrightsarehumanrights for posting the clip so that those of us without Sky get a chance to see and share it Grin Wink

Is it this one Bella? Christina Patterson?

The woman on the newspaper review on Sky last night was openly expressing her opposition to the 'transwomen are women' notion. She was v v reasonable & explicitly said 'they're not'.
Her male opposite number tried the 'it's just like what happened wrt the gays' line on her & tried to shut her down, but she held her ground.

I was like this Shock
As I've never seen it before (which is shocking in itself).

I can't for the life of me remember her name - she's on those segments a lot though.

lunamoth581 · 01/04/2018 11:50

I'm confused. What the heck is he being investigated for? He hosted a meeting of feminists discussing proposed changes in law. How did that break any rules?

MrsWinkly · 01/04/2018 11:50

Thanks Igneococcus for the link.
This is getting absolutely ridiculous. What possible grounds are there for investigation?
At least this highlights the scale of the attempt to silence women from engaging in reasonable debate about issues directly affecting them (and their children).
Well done David Davies for actually taking a stand. Makes him rather unique at the moment, considering the total lack of support for biological womens' rights from all political parties.

Good. This shit needs to be brought out into the cold light of day. The more the public see what's going on, the better

BetsyM00 · 01/04/2018 11:44

Feels a bit like an April Fool's joke doesn't it?

For me it depends what device I'm on. On PC and reading The Times on Firefox I just click on the envelop icon and it will open an email with the link+share token in the body. I then just copy and paste.
On my tablet (Android) with the app there is an icon that says "fetch weblink" and it gives a list of option from facebook to email.
On my phone (Android again) and the app it does not work. I get link but no share token.

Lampage · 01/04/2018 11:35

This will backfire.

It is a perfectly legitimate debate and complaints and investigations will only highlight the pressures and harassment being faced by women who are trying to have their voices heard.

OldCrone · 01/04/2018 11:35

Thanks Igneococcus and BetsyM00.

Will write a comment in support but need to make lunch first.

rowdywoman1 · 01/04/2018 11:31

And if someone can share how to get a share token that would be helpful. The Times has a number of gender critical articles today.

OldCrone · 01/04/2018 11:29

Can someone with a subscription post a share token for this?

Stupid paywall.
I suppose there has been a complaint and they have to investigate.
