See what they are re-tweeting:

twitter.com/LGBTLD

(Not sure how to link to the exact tweet but it's the Cole Zachary one).

There really is no one to vote for, is there?

No they must have said "I'm muting you" or similar.

NotTerfNorCis · 30/03/2018 12:06

Oh do you get a notification if you're muted?? I've muted loads of people, didn't think they'd know!

MsMcWoodle · 30/03/2018 12:04

Just been muted by a poster on the Lib dem site. My first 'mute'. So proud.

RosenbergW · 30/03/2018 11:59

Yeh the Greens are an anti-female sausage fest too.

I'd love to see this all broken down into its basic numerical statistics though. How does women's - and I'd like see lesbian specific stats too - representation compare to trans identified males in the different parties? In their candidates, and in the their 'equality' related groupings/advisors?

Judder · 30/03/2018 11:58

This is chilling. I am a member of the LibDems and boy do I feel like an idiot right now. I joined them as they were the only REMAIN party at the last election. I will complain to someone official about this. If I am not listened to I will leave and they can use the woke folks to hand out their leaflets for them instead. Not sure who the best person is to complain to, will look into it.

SquirrelChaser · 30/03/2018 11:55

You won’t find a home with the Greens either. Aimee Challenor (trans male) coordinator of the Greens’ LGBT+ group, set up a new TERFblocker list, blocking almost 30,000 women, including me. When I asked questions regarding their view on self-id, I was basically told that my membership and vote were not wanted.

RosenbergW · 30/03/2018 11:54

Wouldn't be surprised if Sarah Noble was helping out on that twitter either tbh.

NotTerfNorCis · 30/03/2018 11:54

No, Sarah is a laydee.

Ereshkigal · 30/03/2018 11:52

Notterf

Including Sarah, one presumes?

Ereshkigal · 30/03/2018 11:51

No, we are pretty much disenfranchised.

NotTerfNorCis · 30/03/2018 11:51

Sarah Brown

Not to be confused with Sarah Noble who brought the Lib Dems into disrepute with 'kill all men' comments on Twitter.

RosenbergW · 30/03/2018 11:49

I mean basically what I've found out so far suggests that the LibDems are a white boy sausage fest with no respect or time for women esp lesbians. I won't vote for them, anyone else who isn't voting Labour cos of the misogyny will not find a home with the LibDems either.

RosenbergW · 30/03/2018 11:44

2 females yes notterf but one claims not to be a woman and identifies as a they.

I suspect the twitter lgbtld is being kept by Sarah Brown but they say there are four - I'm guessing none are women, whoever it is.

RosenbergW · 30/03/2018 11:42

Sorry should have said cis privileged lesbian. You know, the evil ones with all the power who are violencing the laydeemen with their speaking.

NotTerfNorCis · 30/03/2018 11:42

Of 33 candidates there are 2 trans males, 1 trans female, 1 woman, and 29 plain ordinary 'cis' dudes

When you say trans males do you mean TIMs? If so then in reality this is 31 male versus 2 female candidates.

LittleLebowski · 30/03/2018 11:40

Interesting Rosenberg, do you know which 4 run the Twitter account? Since the Brian Piddick thing, they're having to deal with quite a few actual questions. Jo Swinson has obviously been reading and engaging in it. As soon as questions start to get to any substance they just flounce and complain about the awful 'invective' they're being subjected to and spout the usual 'we stand by our cis allies' etc. I'd love to see them actually explain their version of biology on the doorstep. Must go down a treat.

RosenbergW · 30/03/2018 11:38

If 0.1% of the UK population is trans (male + female) but 3 of the 33 LGBT candidates for the Libdems are trans versus only one woman (52% of the population??) - I'm rubbish at stats - how much harder is it for a trans person to become a libdem candidate than it is for a privileged cis woman?

Ereshkigal · 30/03/2018 11:30

Wow.

RosenbergW · 30/03/2018 11:22

lgbt.libdems.org.uk/en/article/2017/1246576/happy-new-year-from-the-new-exec-team
A very happy new year to you from the new LGBT+ Lib Dems team.
As elected at our Annual General Meeting in Bournemouth in September, the group heading up our work in 2018 will be:
Chair: Jennie Rigg - trans male
Treasurer: Richard Flowers
Secretary: Andrew Brown
General Executive members:
Sarah Brown - trans male partner of ZOC
Hywel ap Dafydd
Iain Donaldson
Jack Gilbert
Don Harrison
Holly Matthies - bi
Zoe O'Connell - trans male, partner of SB

The current executive of the Liberal Democrats LGBT+ Executive has ten members then, of which one (Hollie) appears to be a woman, with three others being men who claim to be women, at least two of which are in a relationship with each other.

None of these ten LGBT representatives is a lesbian. Has there ever been a lesbian on the Lib Dem LGBT+ Executive??

The 2017 Executive had almost the same line up as the 2018 one - Jennie Rigg, Dave Page, Richard Flowers, Andrew Brown, Hywel Davies, David Chalmers, Don Harrison, Simon Lepori, Zoe O'Connell, Hollie Matthies, Richard Macmillan. Same problems as above.

2016 - couldn't find any info on this year

2015 - No women on the Executive this year at all..
Chair: Dave Page
Secretary: Zoe O'Connell (trans male)
Treasurer: Paul Trollope
Executive:
Rodney Berman
Sarah Brown (trans male)
Lee Dargue
Euan Davidson
Stephen Glenn
Don Harrison
Sarah Noble (trans male)
Jennie Rigg (trans male)
Richard Macmillan

All the trans males on these lists have a history of outright misogyny and anti feminism on twitter, including dismissing women with concerns as transphobic and calling them TERFS.

It's pretty shameful that all these white guys on the Executive have for several years ignored their lack of representation for women and especially for lesbians, and turned a blind eye to the antics of the men who identify as ladies among them.

There is also this list (2017) of the LGBT+ Liberal Democrat General Election Candidates: lgbt.libdems.org.uk/en/page/lgbt-candidates-2017

Of 33 candidates there are 2 trans males, 1 trans female, 1 woman, and 29 plain ordinary 'cis' dudes. Is this 'proportional representation'? According to that list, gay men called David have three times more representation than lesbian women in the Lib Dems! And there are double the number of trans identified males than there are lesbian women. That's assuming the lone woman on the list (who does not I'd as trans) is not bi rather than lesbian, who knows. The lib dems seem like a very inaccessible organisation for us boring women.

Ereshkigal · 30/03/2018 11:04

The Blood Service needs to wise up about the level of delusional narcissism they're dealing with in some of these people.

RedToothBrush · 30/03/2018 10:59

"My gender identity does affect anyone else"

Except when that identity makes you deliberately ignore biological issues wjich might affect other people, such as donation...

Fucking selfish bastards

NotTerfNorCis · 30/03/2018 09:59

More from this interesting Lib Dem account on Twitter. So this guy donated blood, and answered the questions aimed at females. 'I’m a trans woman. The blood service know this. These are the questions they wanted me to answer. Seems biology is a bit more complicated than you suggest!' When someone pointed out he's still in fact biologically male, no matter what's in his head, he says 'the medical profession has got this and come to the conclusion that women like me are biologically female when it comes to most of these things.' The heights of delusion are dizzying with this one!

borntobequiet · 29/03/2018 22:06

All political parties (bar UKIP) beat their breasts about Brexit and say it was the left-behinds, the people who thought they weren't being listened to, the ones who were being ignored and diminished by the "elites", who voted leave because they wanted change. (I know this is a grossly simplistic and distorted view, but it's now part of the core narrative.) Meaning particular people in particular communities in particular areas - probably a relatively small percentage of voters, and some of whom had never voted before.
Now think of the potential difficulties when all the political parties piss off over half of the electorate, along with their partners, husbands, brothers, sons and so on. (I wish I had the political strategic vision to turn this into a sort of feminist coup, but my feeble female brain can't manage it.)

Stilettosandan0venglove · 29/03/2018 19:50

Jennie Rigg perpetuates the lie that radical feminists invented the word 'terf' as "a term coined by non TE radical feminists to distinguish themselves from RFs who wished to exclude trans women; as such I view it as an entirely non controversial neutral term."

I don't get this. That reading would mean one group naming another group, which they oppose. That's not neutral is it?

CapnHaddock · 29/03/2018 17:54

Stella Gardiner (who is on twitter as Stellostar) is now standing for the Greens in Bromley in May.

I wish our political parties could find some trans people who don't hate women/aren't porn soaked to stand for them. Do the Tories have any?

None of this lot fill me with any confidence that women have nothing to fear from trans women.
