At university in the mid 80s so this is a nostalgia fest and really explains why I just don't get the whole non-conform = trans thing. God, the freedom of being able to present yourself however you wanted. A LOT of friends came out as gay, after the fights against c28. Where would they be forced to now..?

DontDrinkDontSmoke · 30/03/2018 09:12

Last year I went to two Adam Ant gigs. I’ve seen him live many times over the past few years. He’s not lost “it” whatever “it” is. In fact these days I think he has even more of “it”. Still wears the make up, though not the stripe. Still as sexy and as horny as fuck.

TheChampagneGalop · 30/03/2018 08:54

Loved the relevant Shania Twain videos and all the others by the way!

Here is some more Annie Lennox, suitable for Feminist chat:

lalalalee · 30/03/2018 08:50

I love a bit of 80's nostalgia.
Plenty of women didn't tend to dress in a typically 'feminine' style - like Alison Moyet and also Bananarama with their scruffy jeans, doc martins and short hair - and the woman in the Come on Eileen video.

UrsulaPandress · 30/03/2018 08:45

Oi. The Cure are mine. All mine.

And I worked in Soho in 1986.

CisPinkHoodie · 30/03/2018 08:42

.. like thinking covering your eyes makes you invisible.

TheChampagneGalop · 30/03/2018 08:40

Thinking makeup can change your sex is just a sweet dream.

TerfsUp · 30/03/2018 08:34

Thank you, MN. Flowers

boatyardblues · 30/03/2018 08:29

Thanks to this thread we are singing along to Erasure’s greatest hits on a long car journey.

🎼 “I’m so in love with youuuuu” (A Little Respect)

CisPinkHoodie · 30/03/2018 07:58

More than Words AAArgh

CisPinkHoodie · 30/03/2018 07:53

Thank you for Only Words

That song reminds me very much of my now-DH who, at the time of the song's release was going abroad for a year. It was then I realise how much I loved him

boldlygoingsomewhere · 30/03/2018 07:49

Loving these suggestions - we could easily fill a whole thread of gorgeous men in make-up.

Peachyoghurt · 30/03/2018 05:56

Gotta love the women on Mumsnet!

@Terftastic

Well Shon isn't getting an invitation to my party ;-)

Carly Simon. Wow.

I think my favourite is let the river run from the Working Girl movie.

DarthArts · 30/03/2018 02:24

My emotional response is positively buoyant.

In one thread we've dealt with a randy budgie quite swiftly and managed to post some bloody good songs and have a laugh to boot.

Women are so damn efficient Grin

TheShaniaTwainExperience · 30/03/2018 02:13

@TheShaniaTwainExperience

How could we possibly forget

Terftastic · 30/03/2018 01:56

The Nina Simone is such an obvious song for Shon. Where you gonna run to next, Shon? You've gone from writing articles in the Guardian about men in makeup (like that was new - see upthread - did you not know about the 80s?) and gay culture, to becoming a tranwoman. Where you gonna run to next Shon? How about, and I realise this is old fashioned, but how about you just be yourself? Too boring?

"I said 'Rock what's the matter with you?' The Rock cried out 'I can't hide you' "' - Trying to be 'woman' can't hide you, Shon.
