I believe her. Flowers I am so sickened for her, her family and friends that it has ended in this.

thebewilderness · 28/03/2018 21:01

People say that these things are forgotten quickly because the media stops talking about it but that does not mean people stop talking about it and forget it.
Or perhaps box is projecting their own dismissiveness and forgetfulness on others.

freespeechforwomen · 28/03/2018 20:59

Someone asked what good a rally will do.
It will show this young woman that many many women stand by her and totally condemn her attackers and it is standing up for what is right .

powershowerforanhour · 28/03/2018 20:57

box is right. Mum whatsapped me about the result then I got 2 more messages about ewes lambing. My boss (who went to one of the rah rah rugby schools and is a keen STFTUM type) was only interested in speculating whether they would play for Ulster again and the wording in their contracts, and whether Ulster Rugby would get sued if they were kicked to the kerb. Then back to work matters.
My husband nodded along with me when I came home. He was enthusiastic about the fantasy retribution we could exact if our own young daughter is ever injured in such a fashion, but quickly changed the subject when I expressed despair and sympathy for those who cannot exact retribution.
Nobody I know really gives a shit.
But I do.

Well mystery woman- much younger than me- who suffered vaginal bruising consistent with blunt force trauma, a laceration, a pool of blood- who was left in a right state according to the taxi driver and Harrison himself- apart from this testimony from third parties..
...I believe YOU. I believe what YOU said. I believe you did not consent to this. Thank you for trying, for standing alone, even though it ended as you predicted it would.

myrtleWilson · 28/03/2018 20:55

you don't seem particularly upset that this is the "man pack" box unless your posts are suggesting weary disillusionment rather than slight couldn't give a fuck?

boxthefox · 28/03/2018 20:47

Give it two weeks and it will be all forgotten. Ulster Rugby will stand by them and maybe raise a glass or two to the former accused who are now not guilty.

That is the man pack.

thebewilderness · 28/03/2018 20:45

Accused are not guilty.
You do not know that. All you know is that a jury found them not guilty.

DioneTheDiabolist · 28/03/2018 20:45

Accused are not guilty.
So what can anyone do about that now?

People can show support and solidarity for the victim. The victim can take a civil case against her assailants. And I hope that these things happen.

GreenSeededGrape · 28/03/2018 20:44

box bore fucking off you rapist apologist Angry

GreenSeededGrape · 28/03/2018 20:44

It will at least show her that lots believe her and lots are fucking disgusted with the results.

I have 2 young dd and this just depresses the shit out of me. I also don't feel like dh totally gets it.

He used to think I made excuses not to go out because I hate walking home from the train station (10 mins) when it's late at night until I explained how I had to mentally plan that walk.

TheDukesOfHazzard · 28/03/2018 20:42

Accused have been found not guilty.

Not, accused are not guilty.

Minor correction [smile

TheDukesOfHazzard · 28/03/2018 20:41

She should have stuck with her initial instinct.

This + warboys + telford + etc

Clear message to women and girls from UK "authorities" and wider society.

boxthefox · 28/03/2018 20:40

Accused are not guilty.

So what can anyone do about that now? Nothing I expect.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 28/03/2018 20:40

Thanks soph, i’ll Just ignore. Far too serious a topic to let it be derailed for lols.

I don't think it's you, zibbidoo. I don't know what box is on about, at all. I don't see any vitriol, or anything worth LOLing about or NEXTing about.

Blurgh.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 28/03/2018 20:36

Have you confused me with another poster? That was the only post I addressed you in.

SophoclesTheFox · 28/03/2018 20:36

I always forget that threads about rape go this way on here. Among the constructive stuff, there's always the LOLing and mansplaining and minimising and what-the-fuck-ever else.

I should know better.

ZibbidooZibbidooZibbidoo · 28/03/2018 20:34

Thank you for explaining all your vitriol against me. LOL.

Sorry? What vitriol? Confused you posted “NEXT” as if you’re done with this thread so I suggested you find another one. No vitriol at all.

SophoclesTheFox · 28/03/2018 20:32

Rock on?

Are you in some way impaired that you think that's appropriate on a thread about rape?

FeministBadger · 28/03/2018 20:27

Yes, there is clearly little appetite where it is needed to change how rape trials are handled, but a simple change of wording from "not guilty" to "not proven" would go a very, very long way to tackling all those nasty "women are liars" allegations each time the evidence doesn't quite make it beyond reasonable doubt.

Not much has changed since the fifties for women who are sexually assaulted or gang raped. Unless we are beaten unconscious or killed by a strange man it is not considered by society to be "real rape rape".

Rufustherenegadereindeer1 · 28/03/2018 20:22

What cherry and delete said

SophoclesTheFox · 28/03/2018 20:21

Sadly this will be old news in a day or two. It really will be.

Not for the woman involved, and not for every woman who looks at her story and sees themselves.
