Couldn't see another thread about it.

His article was retweeted by Andrew Neil.

Great article, James. It's so hard to explain to people why terf is an insult. Even my partner is confused, saying 'it's just a description, an acronym'.

HomeTerf · 27/03/2018 14:03

TERF is the new witch

This is terrifyingly true. TERFs are responsible for violent men murdering transwomen today in the same way as witches were responsible for milk turning sour in the 17th century. In other words, because men say so.

LastGirlOnTheLeft · 27/03/2018 13:59

James, you are a decent, intelligent man. I so wish more were like you. Instead it feels like men are in a race to the bottom.

MrsWooster · 27/03/2018 13:54

Good article. I've shared it on FB, where no doubt it will receive the usual tumbleweedy response. I suppose I am lucky that I have only decent friends who aren't likely to abuse even if they disagree...

Waddlelikeapenguin · 27/03/2018 13:40

Cheers James Star

hackmum · 27/03/2018 13:31

Thank you, James. And if you're reading this, I'm pleased you took Owen Jones to task as well.

hipsterfun · 27/03/2018 13:21

Thanks, James Smile

Datun · 27/03/2018 13:17

Thank you James Kirkup.

TERF is the new witch. It doesn't matter what you say, or how you say it, nothing less then complete capitulation will spare you the abuse.

But, like the water test, you still end up drowning by agreeing to your own erasure.

Wheresmyfuckingcupcake · 27/03/2018 13:09

Excellent, balanced article.

BlueisthenewGrey · 27/03/2018 13:08

Excellent article, once upon a time i scrolled past the Feminist posts, believed they were not for me, how wrong i was.

Keep up the investigating James, your voice is helping us be heard and you acknowledge the reality, as a man, you do not suffer the same abuse as the women who say exactly the same thing.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 27/03/2018 13:08

Thank you James and it is an excellent article.

It has brought a ray of light into a morning where 'TERFs' are accused of being responsible for the murder of a transwoman

twitter.com/RadFemme74/status/978006829379784704

And where 'celebrity' transwoman Jane Fae talks about the murder of women in domestic violence is 'one blow too many' to our 'egg shell skulls' .

Jane Fae is frequently trotted out as the respectable transwoman on television interview, sitting nicely doing her knitting. While having views like this:

BeUpStanding · 27/03/2018 13:08

Great article. Wasn't there a thread on here about Etsy not allowing someone to sell RadFem badges?

whoputthecatout · 27/03/2018 13:05

Thank you so much James. It is so revealing that you say you question what is happening and no one is threatening you, while any woman who so much as asks a question gets the whole nasty hit list of abuse, insults and threats thrown at them.

We need look no further than to know that these are MRAs.

SighForAChange · 27/03/2018 12:58

Thanks from me too James. It's great to know that someone is willing to give us a voice.

LangCleg · 27/03/2018 12:52

Thanks, James. I see you are reading here and elsewhere and taking notice, not only of the threats and intimidation, but of what is actually being said, from practical objections to Girl Guides dropping safeguarding, through sexist implications in new swimming rules (breasts are bad but penises are just fine and dandy) to McCarthyite intimidation of women with the temerity to hold political opinions.

None of this is necessary to reduce the discrimination GNC people, trans or otherwise, face in society.

BrandySchnapps · 27/03/2018 12:52

No worries boaty - I was overcome & giddy at someone in the public eye being reasonable
😂😂

Thanks Brandy. I don’t want to compel language etc, but I did want to thank James. After I posted, it then occurred to me that it looked like I agreed with and accepted the term. I don’t - it is designed to “other” women.

vicviking · 27/03/2018 12:41

Thanks James. Excellent article. Our politicians are being very cowardly on this issue and hanging a huge proportion of their electorate out to dry. Plus damaging our ongoing ability to debate important issues and believe the evidence of our own eyes.

IWannaSeeHowItEnds · 27/03/2018 12:39

Thank you James.
Good to see that other people are starting to wake up and question what is happening in our society.

NoSquirrels · 27/03/2018 12:39

They’ve been given a name, a name that means they’re bad people, people who should not speak and should not be heard. That name is “Terf,” which once meant “Trans Exclusionary Radical Feminist” but now appears to stand in its own right as a term of abuse and dismissal alongside the other short, harsh words often used to question the worth and virtue of women.

His closing line is a belter.

If it’s okay to “Fuck TERFs” then democracy is screwed.

BrandySchnapps · 27/03/2018 12:38

Actually, can we request a change to the title of this thread?

I've reported my op and asked for it to be changed to 'feminists'.

I'm not bothered by the word, but don't want to offend others.

*[Message from MNHQ - we've edited the title now, as requested]

Excellent article. Absolutely sums it all up.

user1487175389 · 27/03/2018 12:35

That article is spot on. The hatred isn't coming particularly from transexuals - it's coming from Men's Rights Activists and other misogynists of various gender identities who've found a loophole from which to terrorise women.

Ekphrasis · 27/03/2018 12:35

Thank you James.

And for mentioning Etsy, which is appalling.

There's a hell of a lot of double standards going on in politics and media at the moment.

HomeTerf · 27/03/2018 12:31

Brilliant. A thank you to James from me too.
