James is going to be discussing trans issues today on LBC. His show is on now - not sure what time the segment will start, but should be good!

Jessica, I like your theory too!

JessicaEccles · 20/03/2018 14:04

That's actually the nicer interpretation. A cynic might say he is willing to expose any number of other women to harm- but not his own daughters.

Lottapianos · 20/03/2018 13:59

Jessica, because he's a chump who only thinks of himself, and doesn't seem to be able to do any joined up thinking on this issue

JessicaEccles · 20/03/2018 13:40

Why does JoB need to escort his daughter in changing rooms? Why can't he just send her into the men's toilet - if men are safe and there is no problem with them being in women's spaces?

Thanks

Can't find it

ohfortuna · 20/03/2018 11:02

I think it's on the last section of the world update program on the world service if anyone wants to listen again
they are talking about the man Friday movement

ohfortuna · 20/03/2018 10:57

Hannah is on it 😁

ohfortuna · 20/03/2018 10:56

This issue is being discussed on the world service right now

MistOnTheWater

I don't think one half of the population want the other half to shut up (well, any more than they normally do).

But all the men from that half, who do want it, have suddenly found a way to do it. A way that makes women look bad, not them, and looks like they're being right on and inclusive at the same time.

It's a gift to misogynists everywhere.

Mumsnut · 20/03/2018 06:26

Does anyone wonder if he was called in by his bosses during the ad break? Perhaps because of a huge number of calls from transactivists? The tone changed completely afterwards, didn't it?

MistOnTheWater · 20/03/2018 02:15

And JOB talking about his dds without understanding the effect it could have on them quite frankly proves him to be completely non empathic.

MistOnTheWater · 20/03/2018 02:10

have been lurking for ages. no one I know actually believes men can turn into women and women into men. It's politeness to say so. which is fair enough(being nice). except the situation has changed with the poss change in law, which removes the rights of half of the population (in law) to have the right to say when they feel uncomfortable or under threat. It's bad enough at the moment (we have all seen the stuff about grooming gangs). if we cannot express our views then we are not allowed to speak and are silenced. Do one half of the population want the other half to shut up so they have it easier to do what they want? I think they really do not have a clue what is going on. Sorry, I'm not making much sense. Still getting my head round it all.

Pratchet · 20/03/2018 02:04

Thanks. I am deeply offended that people think there's such a thing as ladybrain. I've taken it personally.

Terftastic · 19/03/2018 23:10

I have to admit, it took me years to peak trans.

I've glanced at threads on trans since 2011 - and although I kind of got what feminists were saying, I didn't think it a serious threat to women's rights. I didn't understand.

I reckon I 'got' it about a year ago - whenever sparticus happened on MN. Whenever that was - I got it. Really got it. It takes some time to assimilate.

LineysRun · 19/03/2018 23:00

(1)A person has the protected characteristic of gender reassignment if the person is proposing to undergo, is undergoing or has undergone a process (or part of a process) for the purpose of reassigning the person's sex by changing physiological or other attributes of sex

And very, very unfortunately, European legal opinion seems to suggest that 'other attributes of sex' include 'mode of dress'. Crazy.

But we're not screwed yet, as long as we keep pointing out the absurdity of it re prisons and women's safety.

aRespectableBureaudeChange · 19/03/2018 22:58

Don't be disheartened - might be first time they've thought about it. Their mind will be bit more open to hearing news items etc

I got another two today, but going on holiday and will sign next week and said will be talking to people at work when back.

All helps, especially combined with press articles to help perople realise they've been comditioned to accept something they don't remember agreeing to.

Daring to say: sorry men don't turn into women.

Pratchet · 19/03/2018 22:22

Apparently calling for women to be consulted could harm people.

I just shared the petition, to some controversy. I'm feel very disappointed that members of my family are much more stupid than I could ever have imagined.

waterlego6064 · 19/03/2018 22:07

Sorry, Flamingo

waterlego6064 · 19/03/2018 22:07

Flamin, where did you find it please?

Terftastic · 19/03/2018 21:58

Men: Hey, I've always felt like a women. Like, since I was 3.

Women: Hell, no. Get out.

Men: But I like pink, and want long hair, and Barbies, and sparkly stuff.

Women: Still no. Get out.

Here's to gender non-conformity. Or conformity. But, hell, you cannot change sex. Wine

Terftastic · 19/03/2018 21:55

Karen Ingala smith's tweet on using "correct" pronouns:

"I am not going to participate in and/or help spread that mass gaslighting.

One of feminism’s key tenets is women’s right to say no.

We have the right to identify, name and desist malestream ideology and language."

Yeah. Fucking yeah. Women's right to say NO.

SonicVersusGynaephobia · 19/03/2018 21:43

Flaming where did you find it?
