Yes MrsMcW - 38Degrees did. I cancelled my direct debit to them and told them why.

Terfragette69 · 21/03/2018 19:32

Ricky put up a piece about free speech, he's definitely our guy. My twitter is fairly anon as I'm new on it, I'll tweet him the petition.

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 21/03/2018 19:30

Of course you’re right Nosquirrels.
Sadly I feel without a celeb behind it - especially a man - this will go nowhere.

It’s times like these I start eyeing Katie Hopkins and then hate myself.

NoSquirrels · 21/03/2018 19:27

I wish it were not so but I fear it is.

NoSquirrels · 21/03/2018 19:26

No one will tweet the link at the moment as its likely to get them discredited. That’s the truth of it. However nicely worded it is, I think high profile people are worried about whether or not the people behind it (A Woman’s Place etc) are legit and not just the front for far-right extremists.

I wish it were but so but I fear it is.

BlackeyedSusan · 21/03/2018 19:24

definitely. do not understand at all.

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 21/03/2018 19:07

Can anyone tweet this to Ricky Gervais and Graham Linehan? What about Julia BH? James O’Brien?

ilikebread · 21/03/2018 19:05

Yeah I can’t even speak to anyone in work about this! Women are being silenced it’s disgusting.

ilikebread · 21/03/2018 19:04

Ricky Gervais might retweet

SpringNowPlease2018 · 21/03/2018 17:54

anyone else feeling this has a lot fewer signatures than expected?

NoqontroI · 21/03/2018 17:42

.

MsMcWoodle · 21/03/2018 17:23

is it true that the main petition pushers such as 38 degrees rejected the petition?

CircleSquareCircleSquare · 21/03/2018 17:10

How do we get this seen more?
It’s so difficult for many of us to share on social media because of legitimate fear of attack. Millions of people use this site and only 7000 have signed. I that number and the admirable work of so many women is amazing but I truly think we need to hit 100,000 for it to be taken seriously. At 10,000, we will just get a “we’ve read your petition, noted” reply.

We need 500 signatures per day to reach 100,000 by the end of the 6 months.

Which celebrities will back this?
What about Julia BH? JK Rowling? Graham Linehan? Gillian Anderson? Germaine Greer?
Can anyone tweet them?

Waddlelikeapenguin · 21/03/2018 16:13

AttillaThePun · 20/03/2018 12:28

We're moving up page two of the petitions list! (To get to page 1 we're going to have to get about 13,000 signatures though)

Ekphrasis · 20/03/2018 11:33

Ha, I don't have to look on the link anymore; I just check here for progress!

Interesting article, but I'm not convinced about sympathy of not affording surgery and being stuck with the penis.

I seem to have read a number of articles saying they feel removing penis is outdated and unnecessary - ie suits them to keep it.

Would be good if someone has any statistics on this choice to not remove - most people think we are talking about fully transitioned guys who get boundaries etc. Help people get their heads around these are mostly not people with dysphoria.

NoSquirrels · 19/03/2018 22:56

This time yesterday: 6,274
Today: 6,740

466 up. Someone else calculated it needs 500ish per day to hit 100,000 in 6 months.

There’s a great Standard article on sex vs gender & the biological realities of womanhood & the transphobic label
