Fffffuck. Can't believe I was dying for Hitchens to speak - or that he didn't. Angry

OhGodWhatTheHellNow · 22/03/2018 23:36

Bogus suicide stat went unchallenged again. That was a sickening display. I should have known better than to watch.

Viviennemary · 22/03/2018 23:35

Well I think she has been coming over very well so far.

Pratchet · 22/03/2018 23:31

I wish he would go. Misogynist prick.

incorruptibledream · 22/03/2018 23:30

The MN bigots have been put in their place tonight I'm afraid. Go Paris!

Pratchet · 22/03/2018 15:37

I think Lees might criticise transactivist homophobia, just as a sort of loss leader.

To be honest I don't think I can bear to watch. The BBC is so wrong to put four men and a female trans ally on a panel where the GRA is bound to come up. I think it's cruel and deliberate.

Ellenripleysalienbaby · 22/03/2018 14:27

I'm not watching this. Peter Hitchens will be the 'bigot' and it will just be a room full of woke under 30s repeating 'transwomen are women' and how transwomen are so much more oppressed than anyone else.

AssignedPuuurfectAtBirth · 22/03/2018 13:47

Oh I'm getting the wine open for this tonight. I'm happy it's Peter Hitchens. It will raise the awareness of this more.

ArcheryAnnie · 22/03/2018 12:29

And to put PH as the gender critical voice in front of an audience of under-30s is deliberately framing us as bigots.

I think Pratchet has it exactly right, here. alas.

I don't like broccoli. Former right-wing US president George Bush doesn't - allegedly - like broccoli. But that's probably about all we agree on, on every issue under the sun. I feel, over the trans issue, very like I am constantly being told I'm exactly like George Bush in every way, just because neither of us like broccoli, when I have spent my entire political life opposing the George Bushes of this world on practically every other issue imaginable. And even a mutual dislike of broccoli would not make me vote for George Bush.

Disclaimer: this issue is a lot more important that green vegetables, but still, it won't make me magically like right-wingers any more than I usually do, even if for some of them we agree on this. Because I don't think we have the same reasons, for a start.

cuirderussie · 22/03/2018 07:04

I wish Christopher Hitchens was alive for the trans insanity! It'd be one of the few things he and Peter would agree on Grin

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 21/03/2018 23:56

so I would see being against this as very much a feminist position
I meant that I’m not sure Peter Hitchens does. Maybe that doesn’t matter though.

silveradodreams · 21/03/2018 23:24

I gave a little cheer when I saw PH was appearing as he should see PL off without raising a sweat.

LassWiADelicateAir · 21/03/2018 22:13

I like the straight talking right wing bastard types even though I'm labour

Yes me too. (Apart from the Labour bit)

Terfmore · 21/03/2018 22:04

I like the straight talking right wing bastard types even though I'm labour. I wouldn't want to go up against Peter Hitchens and I don't think it matters who raises it as it effects all women

OldCrone · 21/03/2018 19:50

it's child abuse to pump pre pubescent children with puberty blockers
Is this not a feminist perspective? Young children are being groomed into a trans identity because they are gender non-conforming, so I would see being against this as very much a feminist position.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 21/03/2018 19:48

And to put PH as the gender critical voice in front of an audience of under-30s is deliberately framing us as bigots
Actually, I don’t think he’s there for that at all. I think the BBC have got him on because he’s very likely to be (surprisingly) in agreement with Corbyn on the Russia issue. They’ve got to make it up to Little OJ after the other night after all. If he’s in any way gender critical, that’ll just be the cherry on top for the BBC.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 21/03/2018 19:42

Oh my god. Peter Hitchens too. I don’t think I’ll be able to watch.
I'm mentally preparing myself to be unsurprised that Peter Hitchens ends up being the most feminist person on the entire show
He has written about the whole trans thing very recently, enough to be called a transphobe and probably an honoury terf, not that he gives a shit of course, but his perspective is more from the it's child abuse to pump pre pubescent children with puberty blockers rather than a from a feminist perspective.

LifelongVaginaOwner · 21/03/2018 19:36

I can't watch Question Time because I get too annoyed. You can however play a lovely game with Paris Lees. Listen carefully to what Paris says. Then realise that they have said precisely nothing. Paris is the king & queen of word salad.

Pratchet · 21/03/2018 19:32

I don't know worried. I bet they give Lees' underlings the pick and choose behind the scenes.

Yes, it will. And to put PH as the gender critical voice in front of an audience of under-30s is deliberately framing us as bigots.

Ellenripleysalienbaby · 21/03/2018 19:16

Urgh no, not Shami Chakribarti!

That picture from Paris Lees twitter with the heavy filter, the blonde hair and red lipstick is bloody everywhere now. Its their latest 'look how well I pass' picture.

There are loads of women who could easily go up against Paris and win. Amy or Hannah for starters. Give it time....i imagine tomorrow night will consist of Paris throwing out the usual tropes and not being challenged at all, but they can't run from reasoned debate forever.

BeyondDeadlySiren · 21/03/2018 19:14

Pratchet · 21/03/2018 19:10

I am really angry about Question Time. Paris wanted a cis ally and got one. There is no feminist on the panel.
