Students supporting trans ideology taking over working class projects

This is a really interesting thread.

It seems that proponents of trans ideology are often students with a fair hint of the petty bourgeois and a disdain for the working class.

The 'only' woman marching for the miners? Confused really

I must've hallucinated the Lancashire Women Against Pit Closures picket line at Parkside Hmm

wildduckhunt · 14/03/2018 19:55

RedToothBrush I don't know - but there's an CiF article about Labour voters, and at least a couple of GC comments

www.theguardian.com/commentisfree/2018/mar/14/labour-focus-voters-party-target-young-remainers#comments

RedToothBrush · 14/03/2018 19:51

Has the Guardian's patience for Corbyn reign run out today?

ALittleBitOfButter · 14/03/2018 19:19

A Guardian reporter has just asked lucy to contact her. To call her a bigot or to air her views? Hmm.. I wonder. ..

LoislovesStewie · 14/03/2018 19:17

This is a really great thread, I am heartened to know that I am not the only working class wowan totally and utterlly fed up with middle class men and women telling me why I am wrong. What really winds me up is that I have lived it, born very poor, dad suffering industrial accident when I was very young( no compensation in those days), living hand to mouth by sheer necessity, mum dying when I was 11, knowing I was at the bottom of the pile. And then being patronized by my betters. I know I talk with a distinct accent, but I am not thick! And neither are a lot of us, sorry for the rant but I feel so mad that the agenda takes over.

rowdywoman1 · 14/03/2018 19:02

I can see that a Guardian journalist has asked to speak to them about this.
I would have thought that hell would freeze over before the Guardian allows any gender critical facts or opinions to counter their 'trans is the most oppressed group ever in the world' propaganda Hmm

picklemepopcorn · 14/03/2018 19:01

I wonder how the meeting went?

terryleather · 14/03/2018 18:39

Come now Langcleg, everyone knows the girls in Telford have cis privilege...

NotTerfNorCis · 14/03/2018 18:34

What a great Twitter thread. I hope WPUK has seen it.

LangCleg · 14/03/2018 18:22

No no, that would be horrendous even for a TA or an libfem ally. Instead she'll be told to stop being manipulative, that however horrible her experiences are transwomen are far more oppressed and vulnerable than she'll ever be therefore it's only right and proper that their needs are considered first.

Urgh.

I've been following the responses on Twitter and there is one person aggressively asking questions in a really patronising way. Their behaviour is an exact demonstration of what the thread is about - arrogant posh people imposing their gentrified theories of "oppression" onto the actually oppressed and thereby actively obstructing work that offers real and practical support to genuinely marginalised people.

These people really are incapable of reflecting on themselves AT ALL.

Fekko · 14/03/2018 18:17

Woman privilege?

HerFemaleness · 14/03/2018 18:12

" Someone was saying earlier - what if one of those Telford girls gets PTSD associated with the male body? Can she speak? Is she allowed a trigger? Or will she be told to die in a fire, terf scum? "

No no, that would be horrendous even for a TA or an libfem ally. What a powerful tweet. Thank you for sharing it. We are right and we will win.

kooshbin · 14/03/2018 17:20

I hadn't thought of this as also being a class issue, but of course it is.

Thanks for the link, Puurfect.

My understanding is that certain personality disorders are untreatable and harmful to others. Maybe it's time to screen for them as part of a psychiatric assessment 'fitness to hold public policy office' test? No sane person believes a man is a woman, no decent person believes a man is a woman.

RedToothBrush · 14/03/2018 17:02

Labour councils should introduce pronoun badges in the North. Like Brighton and Hove.

That thread explains why, perfectly.

I think this is where the terms 'Westminster Bubble' or 'Liberal Elite' hold power and ressonance.

Fekko · 14/03/2018 16:37

one of the only women marching for the miners in 84/85.

You can't be 'one' of an 'only'. That doesn't make sense.

ArcheryAnnie · 14/03/2018 16:35

I'm another one who shook many a tin for the strike fund. Anyone who says there weren't many women involved, clearly wasn't there.

ChristianPOV · 14/03/2018 16:20

Too much self love (thinking you as a MC student is superior to a WC person, or a male member of the Transology religion) and no love for others, very toxic behaviour. The true vulnerable and those helping are trampled underfoot by the privileged telling lies and masquerading as the vulnerable.

imnolaidee · 14/03/2018 16:15

LangCleg - wish I'd used that back then - perfect!

wildduckhunt · 14/03/2018 15:59

Yes! Thank you for sharing that thread.

LangCleg · 14/03/2018 15:53

imnolaidee - my auntie used to tell me that the only correct response to that was "only if you show me your needle dick first" - used it many times!

imnolaidee · 14/03/2018 15:44

Slight aside, but perhaps topical (even though it was a long while ago).

I was at the Brighton miners gathering at the tory conference back in 1984. I was supporting the miners and as I walked along with them a few shouted out to me "get ya tits out for the lads"

Angry
hackmum · 14/03/2018 15:17

I marched for the miners in 1984. Last time I looked, I was a woman. So LM can bugger off.

LangCleg · 14/03/2018 15:14

And it's the poor, marginalised, vulnerable women who most need single sex services and who will suffer most if they are taken away.

Someone was saying earlier - what if one of those Telford girls gets PTSD associated with the male body? Can she speak? Is she allowed a trigger? Or will she be told to die in a fire, terf scum?
