6 women 'convicted of rape'

So according to statistics released recently 6 women were convicted of rape in 2016, and sexual offences by women have increased a lot over the last 10 years:

www.thetimes.co.uk/article/more-women-convicted-of-sex-offences-bfdvv2w37?shareToken=87cfa91f45f367ce2bc851f2ce9d505b

I can understand that there is, rightly, more recognition that women can commit sexual offences, and they should be punished for it. But I have difficulty understanding how a woman can 'rape'. It doesn't say 'attempted rape' which I can understand. Does anyone know how we can get behind the statistics to find out more?

I don't think I've ever been so angry in my life.
Given that these are figures for England and Wales where the law says actual rape is committed with a penis, and as a PP Has said if any of these were on joint enterprise, we'd likely know it through the media, I have no doubt at all these 6 perpetrators at least, are men.

How DARE they? How fucking DARE they try to pass their skeevy sexual crimes off on to women? And how DARE the officials prosecuting them allow this? How DARE the MOJ allow these stats to stand?

I'm shaking with rage. I'm absolutely bloody incandescent. If I had them in front of me I wouldn't be responsible.

Maybe it's because I've been raped and my DD was assaulted and the system let us both down. It's crappy enough as it is, without this.

I peaked some time ago but this is too much for me. I'm breaking cover on SM and to Hell with the consequences. I won't sit down for this.

Fuck the lot of them.

A natal female could not commit rape so they must have had a penis. If they used an object or other part of body eg fist against a female without consent it would be charged as Sexual Assault by Penetration (Really wish I didn’t know that term) which I think would carry a similarish penalty as rape. I would hope anyway tho I never got to find out as CPS dropped the case and is just as distressing as rape. For me the assault by penetration was worse than the rape.

This is why I feel so strongly that refuges must remain single sex - no penis’ allowed.

Sorry probably not making much sense today and going off topic. Not slept much.

Women commit far less sex offences than men by a very large order of magnitude,

When they do it's often playing second fiddle to a man,

And in law it is quite tricky indeed for them to rape which is why they are rarely convicted of it.

Speculating what a woman might need to do in order to be convicted of rape is pointless. When a person is convicted of rape, the possibility that they don't have a dick is really very very small.

BartholinsSister · 07/03/2018 10:16

Can a woman be convicted of rape if she pushes someone else's penis into the victim? Or, forces the victim's vagina, anus, or mouth onto another person's penis?

Iamagreyhoundhearmeroar · 07/03/2018 09:37

How surreal that a male convicted of rape is actually entertained in their insistence that they're a woman; instead of automatically committed to a fucking asylum.
I'll never get my head around this utter circus.

I suppose the TRA response, and the response of orgs like Girl Guiding and the NSPCC would be, that if they have said they are female, then they are female, and so the stats are accurate.

So we will incresingly see that men and women commit sex offences at at similar rates, meanwhile all the girls and women in the world will know fine well who does it but we will need to keep our mouths stut.

How is this progressive?

The only people I see it serving are the ones who say that's it's somehow not fair to say that men commit the majority of sex offences, and that equality means men and women must commit equal amounts of crime... That guy in the govt committee for equalities who wanted to make things more equal by sending more women to prison. Those people, is who this benefits. And predators as it helps to obscure them.

Tara Hudson and no GRC. If Hudson had one, they would have been housed in a women's prison because that's the whole point of them - you are recognised as being of your acquired sex.

None of the current band of TRAs have GRCs - Bergdorf, Lees, Stinson etc

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 07/03/2018 08:20

Its hugely unlikely that any of the 6 who were convicted of rape were born female. If one or more of the cases had been 'joint enterprise' this would have been a major media talking point, just because it occurs so rarely.

SnibbleAgain · 07/03/2018 08:17

No they didn't.

sympathetic article

Note no mention of what Tara's crime was, and implication they have had gential surgery.

SnibbleAgain · 07/03/2018 08:13

Thingy was put in a women's prison, that one who was done for GBH on lots of occasions. The escort who advertised having a 7" cock. Did they have a GRC? No idea and can't remember the name.

SnibbleAgain · 07/03/2018 08:12

Cwenthryth not sure it seems inconsistent.

Of course there's no way to check...

To be recorded as a woman, I’m assuming these rapists either are women, or transwomen with a GRC? Or would self-identifying transwomen be recorded as women - I’m believe a GRC isn’t required to be housed in the female prison estate?

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 07/03/2018 08:04

Indeed, Justice, so as the MOJ figures are for England and Wales, it will be rape with a penis, or joint enterprise.

justicewomen · 07/03/2018 07:56

As mentioned above women can be guilty of rape through the "joint enterprise" charge .See www.theguardian.com/uk/2001/mar/17/sarahhall

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 07/03/2018 07:49

Just wanted to point out before anyone suggests the figures might include areas of the UK where rape definition is different, the stats are from the Ministry of Justice. A check of the government website for MOJ shows their sexual offending stats are for England and Wales.

norkmonster · 07/03/2018 07:28

Underage rape still involves a penis - section 5 of the sexual offences act. Otherwise if a woman has been complicit in the committing of the offence it is charged as aiding and abetting rape

HairyBallTheorem · 07/03/2018 07:21

No, MMcannny. In UK law (sexual offences act 2003 in England and Wales, 2009 act in Scotland) rape is penetration by a penis ( which in Scottish law explicitly includes surgically constructed penises). Dildoes , fingers etc are covered by a separate offence of sexual assault by penetration which carries the same sentence.

It is possible but rare for a woman to be convicted under common enterprise - for holding the victim down while a man uses his penis. But unlikely that six such offences would have popped up in one year.

RJnomore1 · 07/03/2018 07:19

Well someone better tell victim support

6 women 'convicted of rape'
TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 07/03/2018 07:19

Crimes that can be committed by a woman include sexual activity with a child and assault by penetration. In England and Wales, the legal definition of rape specifically involves penetration by a penis. It's vanishingly rare for a woman to be convicted of it.

norkmonster · 07/03/2018 07:18

Not rape. She was convicted of sexual assault. Rape has to involve a penis. Anything else is sexual assault.

TerfyMcTerface · 07/03/2018 07:15

From the other thread, it seems that rape can be committed by a woman rather than a penis-owner if the victim is underage, or through joint enterprise (eg. if a woman facilitated the rape by holding the victim down while they was raped).
