Me too and I've been voting labour for 40-odd years, through thick and thin.

I've disagreed with them many times before but this is different. This time I've seen a different side to them: misogynistic, bullying, anti free speech, anti facts. And I don't think I can ever un-see it.

I feel very, very sad but we are so over. In the words of Carrie Bradshaw, 'We need a new word for 'over'.'

ChocolateCoveredGrapes · 06/03/2018 21:42

I don't see myself ever voting for anyone ever again after this. Spoilt ballots from now on.

Mouthtrousersafrocknowandthen · 06/03/2018 21:41

Labour by definition did not include women from the beginning. Labour was about paid labour, women gave unpaid labour.

lucydogz · 06/03/2018 21:33

I contacted to my female Labour MP about this. No response, not even an acknowledgement. and I've always thought she was pretty good.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 06/03/2018 20:57

I cannot vote Labour now but nor can I ever vote Tory. The Greens can stick 'non-men' up their SJW bums, and WEP have made their position v clear

It's a fucker isn't it

OlennasWimple · 06/03/2018 20:39

I feel like joining LAbour jsut so that I can resign in protest

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 06/03/2018 20:30

Let's consider how many other policies have been steam rolled through on the basis of the strength of the opposition?

Thinking.....thinking....thinking....

For the love of God someone tweet him that.

MacaroonMama · 06/03/2018 19:56

I have emailed mayday4women to let them know.

I think Labour are breaking the law because of the Equality Act.

MacaroonMama · 06/03/2018 19:54

@LibDemWoman - can you help? You were great to speak at the meeting. Could you convince anyone in the Lib Dems to change their policy on women?

I cannot vote Labour now 😭 but nor can I ever vote Tory. The Greens can stick 'non-men' up their SJW bums, and WEP have made their position v clear.

The Lib Dems could really gain some support here, I am sure of it. Would people vote for them if the were anti-self ID? I know I would. What do you think?

RedToothBrush · 06/03/2018 19:11

The email address was taken from their twitter account which is here:

twitter.com/mayday4women

the profile says its [email protected]

mimivanne · 06/03/2018 19:07

I got through on [email protected].
They are waiting for more women to contact them - currently 30 an hour, plan to work on a basic statement for us all to sign and send it to the newspapers as a mass resignation letter.
I resigned a few weeks ago but I can still be a signatory

Winewinewinegin · 06/03/2018 18:32

Anyone emailing mayday for women I would doublecheck on their twitter account for correct address, not sure it is gmail

MamaLupine · 06/03/2018 18:09

I tweeted @mayday4women as I cancelled my membership to the Labour Party 2 weeks ago. They've been InTouch and are adding my name and CLP to their letter anyway which is great.

DarthArts · 06/03/2018 17:55

No: anti-trans activists drove the issue up the agenda, forced a debate and alienated people with (in some cases) an astonishingly vindictive, sometimes hateful approach, and the party acted.

So in other words "Fuck you" politics.

Let's consider how many other policies have been steam rolled through on the basis of the strength of the opposition?

Thinking.....thinking....thinking....

Nope - drawn a blank.

Anyone else think of one?

ChocolateCoveredGrapes · 06/03/2018 17:24

Blaming women for the behaviour of men.

Framing the issue as the victim attacking the oppressor.

I think it backfired on Mr1984.

RedToothBrush · 06/03/2018 17:22

Owen Jones @ OwenJones84
A senior Labour figure told me one of the main reasons the party has updated their position on trans rights is because of the anti-trans backlash.

In other words anti-trans activists overplayed their hand so much, they made Labour more pro-trans rights

For those saying: well that’s petty of Labour, isn’t it?

No: anti-trans activists drove the issue up the agenda, forced a debate and alienated people with (in some cases) an astonishingly vindictive, sometimes hateful approach, and the party acted.

It backfired, basically.

FWIW its not how I would interpret this.

Not at all.

madaashellshell · 06/03/2018 17:05

I left over this a few weeks ago though I would ask women thinking now of leaving to try and do it in a coordinated way for maximum impact. @mayday4women are compiling a list. I'm angry too and I'd vote for anyone now who promised to do away with self ID, a poisonous, illogical, anti-science, misogynistic load of crap

SirVixofVixHall · 06/03/2018 16:47

I came to post about the mayday for women group res. I see it has been posted above. I'm not a member of any party but voted Labour, I certainly won't be voting for them again.

TruScum · 06/03/2018 16:43

Has the ‘statement’ made an appearance yet?

flapsDentata · 06/03/2018 16:35

If you want to know a bit more about PIE and Islington Care Homes cover up, this documentary is fascinating. www.google.co.uk/amp/s/theneedleblog.wordpress.com/2015/08/01/derek-sawyer-jeremy-corbyns-former-constituency-agent/amp/

Some horrible stuff. I don’t think the situations are incomparable.

OP posts:
mimivanne · 06/03/2018 16:26

Leyat

I don't know if its me but couldn't contact Mayday on the gmail add ?

CaptainMarvelDanvers · 06/03/2018 15:59

And I’m done with Labour.

If they had actually done some consultation and actually listened to all sides and still came to the same conclusion, then I could stomach it a bit more but they didn’t do any of that. It’s a spit in the face for the women who came before.

How do you cancel a membership?

Grumbleweed1969 · 06/03/2018 15:47

Certain aspects of The Labour Party Democracy Review haven't concluded yet. Good opportunity to give some feedback on this issue.

action.labour.org.uk/page/s/diversity-and-participation

Then resign! Grin

LizzieSiddal · 06/03/2018 15:36

I feel the same Macaroon

I really hope when this policy is officially announced there is absolute uproar from women. We and men who support us, need to come together to tell Labour how fucked off we are.

MacaroonMama · 06/03/2018 15:32

I am mid-school run but can I just be here for a minute with you all and have a little cry. So upset.

I will be furious and get into Twitter, email Labour etc, but just need I need to send you all solidarity and love and tissues.
