Lang Cleg, thank you for the advice about emailing the CLP.

FlutterGuy · 05/03/2018 22:27

I've cancelled my membership today and written to explain why. Whether or not this Huff Post story is rubbish, the Labour Party has created the environment for it to be completely plausible and has done nothing to reassure women or give us confidence that our opinions will be heard.

I'm feeling genuine panic.

TooManyMiles · 05/03/2018 22:27

There was an interesting Radio 4 programme tonight "The Silence of the Liberal " which made some interesting points about how muslim women are being let down by the liberal left.
www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b09tcvp2
From the iplayer page:
"Amina Lone who says her outspoken views including a campaign against young girls wearing the hijab in school led to her losing her seat as a Manchester city councillor. The local Labour party failed to re-select her, blaming her attendance record."

LangCleg · 05/03/2018 22:27

Well, I waited for a decision. I got a decision.

Direct debit cancelled. Email to CLP secretary sent. I told the craven fuckers at my CLP this is what would happen.

Anyone else leaving over this - email your CLP secretary, otherwise Labour will still count you as a member until your subs from the cancelled direct debit are six months in arrears.

RedToothBrush · 05/03/2018 22:24

The power of lies in an authoritarian regime is to make it big, obvious, and make people feel powerless to do anything about it.

Know that after you die our lies will be believed everywhere while your truth will be washed away like your blood from this cell.

MenInDiggers · 05/03/2018 22:20

Keep telling people about Self-ID.

XXHelenaXX · 05/03/2018 22:18

Nice dream, Terfous but remember that only about 5% of women are feminist activists.

TERFousBreakdown · 05/03/2018 22:14

There is no party for us at present. I basically see two viable options for feminists:

OPTION A:
Organise a mass ballot-spoiling exercise. It would have to be consistent in how exactly ballots are spoiled in order to get attention. If done properly, it could have one hell of an effect.

OPTION B:
Stand for election or organise to field other, feminist-friendly candidates on every.single.level. Contest every seat.

In either case: be noisy, be heard, be annoying as fuck! The secret recipe to success is essentially to make people think they're better off listening to you than having to keep on putting up with all the fuss you're making!

Greensmurfterf · 05/03/2018 22:13

Let's hope the 50% rubbish part is correct thebewilderness.

PositivelyPERF · 05/03/2018 22:12

I was quite active in my local area but my debit had been cancelled for a month now and every time I am invited to a meeting I politely decline and reiterate why, in writing. I swear if you were a politician I’d vote for you. 🥇

SnibbleAgain · 05/03/2018 22:12

I cancelled my DD a few weeks back, got my will you renew email today. No option to say no :D

Thing is if I email them back and say why, don't lily and co get my name for their list and then it's in public etc and threats/ doxxing?

thebewilderness · 05/03/2018 22:11

It's HuffPo so it has a 50/50 chance of being speculative fiction.

Greensmurfterf · 05/03/2018 22:11

I'm honestly struggling with this because I can't believe the whole Labour party is so stupid.

ILoveDolly · 05/03/2018 22:10

Who SHOULD we vote for? Where is our party?

Ohforfoxsakereturns · 05/03/2018 22:09

Same. Always voted Labour. There’s really nowhere to go. But I will not be voting for them again.

TruScum · 05/03/2018 22:07

Personally? I’m starting to wonder if JC has a ‘thing’ for certain groups, sordid as that is to suggest.

Not sure how true it is but I was told earlier that the hiring of the latest LGBT disaster came directly from JC’s office.

GrooovyLass · 05/03/2018 22:06

I've cancelled my membership. For the first time in my life I don't know who to vote for.

TERFousBreakdown · 05/03/2018 22:06

I almost regret leaving Labour over LM a while ago. This would have been even more worth leaving over!

The LP is truly turning into a woman-hating dickfest, isn't it?

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 05/03/2018 22:04

Corbyn must really hate women. Imagine picking the anniversary of 100yrs since the first female vote. I swear they’ve been planning this nonsense and deliberately timed it for now. 100yrs from now they’ll be talking about the anniversary of when women lost all their rights.

^ This.

Disappointed and really worried for what the future holds for women, me, my DD, my nieces. If my toddler DD grows up to show promise as an athlete I’m sad to say based on what’s happening now I will be actively discouraging her from persuing this. To watch her work hard, dedicate her teen years, etc knowing all along she didn’t stand a chance is just too cruel.

woman11017 · 05/03/2018 22:04

But it's also really important that women don't just quietly leave Labour.
Absolutely. That's what Anne Ruyzlo is saying, we shout and organise about it and get this thing fixed.

LizzieSiddal · 05/03/2018 22:03

There should be an organised, mass posting of membership cards to head office.

Greensmurfterf · 05/03/2018 22:02

Is Jezza right on, trying for the youth vote or (can't believe I'm even thinking this but...) a fetish type bloke taking the micky and getting away with it (hiding in plain sight)

XXHelenaXX · 05/03/2018 22:01

But it's also really important that women don't just quietly leave Labour. They should shout out loud why. MAybe create and join a Facebook group or ooh how about join a Mumsnet thread just so Labour can see how many they have actually lost?

A thread is good as women can post in it for months down the line as they don't renew membership.

averylongtimeago · 05/03/2018 21:59

So who the fuck to vote for now?

XXHelenaXX · 05/03/2018 21:59

Whoops pressed enter before I left the message.

There's been a secret group within Labour since 13th January, it's been exposed a bit but not everything is known. This video explains a lot of it I think
