Gendered Intelligence - advice please!

Anybody attended training with gendered intelligence? It is being suggested for an organisation I care about. I am looking at their website and I can't really tell a huge amount. Are there any alternative training organisations? My concerns in this particular instance would be about safeguarding vulnerable children, and whether this group was responsible in their handling of suicide stats, confidentiality, dangerous medication and sexual abuse.

Has Jamie gone? Really !?! a TRA doing a hit and run, when questions got a bit like questions rather than nods? That has NEVER happened before.

newtlover · 02/03/2018 17:12

oops looks like we scared him off

Elletorro · 02/03/2018 17:12

Jamie

Would you meet with us and work with us to work out how to strengthen the Equality Act exemptions on the basis of sex for:

Women in sporting competitions

Women in refuges

Women and children in toilets and changing rooms

Changing the AWS exemptions so that only women can apply

Do you accept that women are the weaker and more vulnerable sex?

Do you accept that women and children need protections from sexual predators?

Do you accept that the majority of sexual predators are men and that sex segregation is therefore justified?

Do you accept that women have not achieved equal representation in Parliament?

Do you accept that women need to be equally represented in order to ensure that they obtain equal rights?

Do you accept that austerity policies have disproportionately adversely affected women?

Do you accept that women’s rights are for and about women?

Will you accept responsibility for the inevitable Jimmy Saville fuck up damaging hundreds of lives?

newtlover · 02/03/2018 16:58

hallo Jamie
it seems to me your organisation is likely to reinforce gender stereotypes rather than the opposite. Surely the whole logic behind trans identities is that if your biological sex does not match the current gender roles ascribed to that sex, then you have a problem which can be fixed by transitioning and adopting the role of the other sex. Whereas to be truly critical of gender roles, you would be working to dismantle stereotypes and saying you can be any kind of boy./man or girl/woman you want to be.

Thanks to those who recommended Delusions of Gender. Just got a copy - only £1.99 on the Kindle!

holycheeseplant · 02/03/2018 16:42

Somehow I got delusions of gender free on a kindle app; unsure if through amazon prime or not though?

Elletorro · 02/03/2018 16:31

Another question Jamie

Where do you stand on women’s concerns regarding safety particularly in light of the data relating to sexual offenders transient?

Also what protections do you think should be put in place for women and children to prevent abuse from opportunistic sexual predators who are not trans entering what have been hitherto “safe spaces” but who cannot be distinguished from genuine transwomen

Wanderingwomb · 02/03/2018 16:29

Hi Jamie. Your description of your organisation sounds reasonable. Can you please explain why your organisation felt the need to attempt to silence and discredit Stephanie Davies Arai by complaining to Therapy Today magazine about her letter? ICan you understand that that paints your organisation in a somewhat different light to what you just described above? Do you believe there is no room for debate about this issue and if so, why?

Does your guidance suggest that schools and counsellors should use watchful waiting for young people and adolescents with mental health problems who think they might be trans?

If a counsellor were to tell a child that in their view, that child did NOT have a gender identity problem but a school bullying problem, does your guidance suggest that that counsellor be criticised or supported?

shedalight · 02/03/2018 16:25

And a second question (if you have time)?

Do you state in any of your training materials that adults working with children in schools should keep confidentiality about any disclosures relating to gender non conformity? If so, in what context that you would advise this?

Thank you.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 02/03/2018 16:23

Do you talk about gender-non-conforming people who don't believe in gender identity, Jamie, such as butch or MOC lesbians?

Do you ensure the people you train understand that pressuring lesbians to accept sex with someone capable of impregnating them is rape culture?

shedalight · 02/03/2018 16:22

Hi Jamie,
Does Gendered Intelligence advocate that children should take drugs to halt puberty before puberty starts, during puberty or once they reach the age of consent?
How is this matter addressed in your training?

Many thanks.

Personally I have no concern about biological females sharing these spaces.

Would you support this sex segregation Jamie?

Elletorro · 02/03/2018 16:16

Hi Jamie

We want to know your views on invoking the Equality Act exemptions which allow for sex segregation.

Our particular concerns are in toilets and changing rooms as many biological women feel sharing with biological males violates their dignity and breaches the concept of consent.

This issue has infuriated me and depressed me in turn, from the beginning.

But now you can add despair to that. Hopefully it's temporary.

Public advocates of women, with power, have sporadically expressed their views.

Journalists, radio hosts, TV broadcasters, etc.

But the attacks are stepping up.

It's a little soul destroying, to be honest.

So in answer to your question, how?

Right now, today, I don't know.

I do know that continuing to talk about it, on here is massively beneficial. Mumsnet has huge power.

And it gets read. So explanations, links, are all crucial.

Wanderingwomb · 02/03/2018 12:34

How? I am really surprised they got over 500 therapists to sign the petition. I've been in and out of therapy for years and censorship and pro medication is the opposite of my experience of therapists.

Yes they have. This censorship and harassment has to stop.

Wanderingwomb · 02/03/2018 12:00

Datun. I think GI have been discrediting Transgender Trend to BACP magazine Therapy Today. Sorry I can't do a link on my phone but there's a thread about it showing a petition against Stephanie Davies Arai, which looks identical in style and layout to the registration forms for GI courses. Bit suspect they do this at the same time as peddling rather expensive training courses.

Transgender trend has written advice for schools.

Although aimed at children, the equality law is equally applicable to children and adults.

It also highlights the damage of gender and how not conforming to it is a perfectly human behaviour.

We all do it, all the time. It's not a secret. And it's not unusual.

Fifi do you mean it aims to push organisations to, for example, allow anyone to use the female toilets? Any other things?
Datun thanks for the science museum info, v useful!
