Sorry only MSM link I could find:
www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5440153/Trans-convict-invited-speak-House-Lords.html

Karen Jones killed her boyfriend (when Karen was still a man) and wrapped his body in sheets and a duvet. It went undiscovered for 3 weeks. The body was so decomposed that the cause of death could not be established so Jones was convicted of manslaughter and released after 2 and half years in prison. A big part of her defense was that she was confused and distressed by her sexuality and gender (thus leading you to kill - as you do). Shortly after release Jones went to a trans clothes shop and took the shop assistant hostage, stuck a lemon in her mouth and violently assaulted her and tried to rape her. Jones only stopped when she failed to become aroused with her "female penis". Jones claimed she was driven to commit the crime to be put back in prison in order to get the gender reassignment surgery she needed. She was given an indeterminate sentence but was released after several years.

Jones has now been invited to talk to the House of Lords about how life can be made easier and better for transgender prisoners. Apparently the peer who invited her believes Jones debt to society has been paid. Words fail.

@Shedbuilder

This is a thread from 2018. Why has it been resurrected?
oh sorry! I was searching for something
cheeseismydownfall · 06/08/2020 12:27

I wonder what the Baroness made of it at the time?

ChurchOfWokeApostate · 06/08/2020 09:39

Oh is it a zombie thread? What happened then, did it actually happen?

Shedbuilder · 06/08/2020 09:39

ChurchOfWokeApostate · 06/08/2020 09:38

I’m actually speechless. WTAF?!?

EyesOpening · 06/08/2020 09:29

This is all sorts of madness but
“ was driven to commit the crime to be put back in prison in order to get the gender reassignment surgery”
Why are the giving them this in prison?

SuperTimbs · 27/02/2018 23:25

She said the attack was as a cry for help so that she could go back to prison and have the sex change operation she had needed all her life.

Utterly disgusting individual.

RedToothBrush · 27/02/2018 20:36

Its not just the getting a platform thats problematic ..

Just to be clear, a GRC was approved for someone who had a history like that, and no one apparently sees a problem with it.

This has peaked me for about the 100,000th time

I am planning on making a placard this weekend that is covered in rapists who now want to identify as women.
If enough people do something along those lines then a point will be made...

theaveragewife · 27/02/2018 18:46

Really? Confused shame, I thought the ‘this event is for women and girls only’ seemed promising.

shehimthey · 27/02/2018 18:40

Of course it will include TRAs - it's par for the course now.

theaveragewife · 27/02/2018 18:33

Room101 does their definition of women include TRAs?

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 27/02/2018 17:55

WTAF?! I'm sorry, I'm too incoherent to say anything Angry

They were moved to a womens prison (before full surgery I think)

There is another thread about this with more traffic in AIBU

This article from the Manchester Evening News explains that Lawson/Jones killed her boyfriend as he reneged on a deal to pay for GR surgery and had been taunted as a teen by his dad and forced to have tattoos of women inked on his body.
Lawson/Jones had been staying in a Women's bail hostel after release from prison on manslaughter despite having had no surgery.
Why? At this stage he had not had GR surgery.

Supposedly the attempted rape was a cry for help as she had been given no help with her issues by the authorities.Jones was given a life sentence under the two strikes rule in 2004 but this was reduced on Appeal to a minimum tarriff of 3 and half years. In 2007 the parole board decided not to release her as she was considered too dangerous but I'm not sure when she was released. Jones did have GR surgery and was declared a woman on her birth certificate in 2006 under the GRA (2004) and applied to be moved to a womens prison- not sure if she was.

Absolutely appalling. Is the struggle of 'being born in the wrong body' a get out of jail card? She viciously assaulted and tried to rape that woman in a most horrific way and only didn't succeed because she couldn't get a hard on. But that was only because she was struggling because, y'know, she really was/is and actual woman herself.

And now I've just read that Munro Bergdorf is going to be Labour's LGBT advisor - holy fuck! No one gives a damn about women do they?

Room101isWhereIUsedtoLive · 27/02/2018 17:27

What the actual fuck?
I am actually now scared.

rb67 · 27/02/2018 17:24

I can't see a problem with someone convicted of a serious crime being invited to the House of Lords. People change and all that. But .....if you were to do a snap risk assessment of this person you would seriously question their insight and empathy.

TERFousBreakdown · 27/02/2018 16:54

She said the attack was as a cry for help so that she could go back to prison and have the sex change operation she had needed all her life.

There are things I need, too! Whom shall I assault?

MrsExpo · 27/02/2018 16:51

OMG, utterly appalled ..... words fail me. Angry

WiseOldHag · 27/02/2018 16:51

Further down the rabbit hole.
