I came across this and found it very interesting- but not as interesting as the comments below it.

I was trying to find something sensible on AGP. So much simply denies it- and I can see why. It's so stereotypically narcissistic, brings new meaning to the phrase 'he really fancies himself'.

But the heart rending comments below....

Presumably, when he's a man he's a man exactly like other men, and when she's a woman she's a woman exactly like all other women except with added male privilege so she gets to boss us all around. Or something?

FannyWisdom · 16/02/2018 15:25

Good link Pickle AGP was the missing link for me.
I didn't understand that sexual gratification was connected to trans people.
The mainstream line I heard was it not sexual it's the wrong body so the fetish aspect had gone over my head.

(My comment was in reply to the Pippa Bunce link.)

Aargh, but I don't understand, I thought being genderfluid was avoiding binary distinctions, in which case this person doesn't belong on a list of women anything nor advising anyone on gender issues as they specifically concern women. Why is that not obvious?

Even if we existed only through self-definition ('I'm a woman because I say I am') and not biology, I don't understand how women are being lumped into genderfluidity, except that as the other we're expected to just be whatever we're told we are. It's like the one-drop rule, if you're not male then what does it matter what you call yourself, you're corrupted anyway.

moofolk · 16/02/2018 15:22

Yes it's a very good piece. Finding out about AGP was a definite penny dropping moment for me.
I've studied gender roles anthropologically and worldwide throughout history there have been instances of a third gender - generally made up of effeminate homosexual - or transsexual.
Autogynophilia is a modern, western phenomenon.
Interestingly I was just dipping into Naomi Wolf's Beauty Myth today, and in her Sex chapter she talks about female sexuality being controlled but specifically being experienced as 'outside in': i.e. experiencing sexuality as imagining being desired rather than desiring.

Mouthandtrousersall · 16/02/2018 15:18

When I first started work everyone was really anti women wearing trousers. Including women.
But we kind a wear a type of trousers that suit our body type and are flattering and blend in at work.

I've go no problem with dudes wearing dresses at all but for goodness sake, can't someone design male body type dresses that suit them better than they stuff they wear?

Pippa Bunce always makes me think of Marie Antionette dressed up as an unusually frilly peasant.

Pippa's Twitter photo shows what part of her feminine side matters most.

The personal stories from people with AGP and a young trans woman regretting her transition were eye opening, and unusually matter of fact for this subject.

Pippa thinks that women who don't agree with him will never amount to anything.

AGP or what?

Pips took the conscious decision to be ‘out’ at work as gender fluid to embrace and advocate the importance of authenticity as well as to shine a light on the power and diversity of women in the workplace. Multiple aspects of our identity, including gender identity/expression, ethnicity, age, sexual orientation, disability and religion influence our experiences at work. Our sex or gender may be the same, but our identities, our successes and our struggles are different and it is for this reason why Pips is proud to be a female champion in business. She is a member of the European Women’s Network/IT Women’s Council and had many external publications relating to gender equality published. Additionally, she has been integral in providing reverse mentoring to management board members of the firm and is co-lead of the LGBT & Ally program at Credit Suisse where she places much importance on intersectionality and how the voices of all types of women and our allies need to be heard to drive forward gender equality – our differences make us stronger and diversity should be celebrated, not tolerated. Pips is also a regular panellist/speaker on gender equality, and often interviewed by external publications on the topic.

Yes, Miranda is a hero for getting all this out there so clearly.

This does change the way you see trans behaviourally. We seem to be pandering to a male sex fetish.
I laugh at the man at Credit Suisse who goes to work in a dress once week. Next month Credit Suisse will be introducing BDSM Fridays, bring your dog colars and gimp masks to work

Barking.
