The Spectator has noticed:

(paywall)
https://blogs.spectator.co.uk/2018/02/jeremy-corbyn-has-a-new-enemy-mumsnet/
…
Which brings me to the most politically pressing thing I’ve learned.
Mumsnet is angry

They think that the sort of self-declared gender laws that may end up in force in the UK, as they have in other countries,
will do nothing less than render the word ‘woman’ meaningless, with all that that implies for equality and freedom and, well, civilisation as we know it.

To paraphrase some common sentiments:
you can’t become a woman, because womanhood is based on biology, socialisation and experience that only those born to it can know;

if the law dictates that a man can attain womanhood simply by signing a few forms, womanhood becomes empty and women lose any standing in society.

LM has re-tweeted something about abortion on demand - that's as close as I've seen him got regarding women's issues.

LM has an, um, difficult relationship with his mother: twitter.com/madigan_lily/status/957949915891732480

BigChocFrenzy · 12/02/2018 22:02

Maybe he's a Tory plant.

I'm a floating centrist voter,
but my feminism is firm, not floating.

I'm disgusted that Labour committed this outrageous betrayal of feminism
So I won't consider voting Labour until they stop throwing women under the TRA bus

Writersblock2 · 12/02/2018 22:01

I may or may not have tweeted my annoyance at the ageism of Young Labour. I truly feel that since I identify mentally as a 16 year old I should be allowed in. This is how this works, right?

I WANT TO Be BLOCKED, DAMN IT!

TERFousBreakdown · 12/02/2018 21:55

@TerfyMcTerface

At times like this, I wish MN had a 'like' button. It doesn't. Please accept this Gin in lieu of a quantifiable expression of appreciation on an online platform!

Madigan is an MRA in a dress, not a trans woman as most people would understand the term. He saw an opportunity for self promotion and for indulging his misogyny and he took it. The bigger scandal is that the leader of the Labour Party fell for it and is feting him. And Harriet Harman is unbelievably dim-witted to say that members would see through it if an MRA were to try to get elected. It has already happened, at the very first attempt.

TheXXFactor · 12/02/2018 21:47

Actually Lily has done some good. I didn't know what a TERF was. Now I am one. Thanks Lil

Grin

Lily is peaktransing so many people that I suspect Lily of being a double agent, working for WPUK Wink

Lily is such a disaster for TRAs, that I can't believe they haven't shut Lily down. They needed the first TIM in a women's role to be unimpeachable, intelligent and serious - someone like Miranda Yardley (not that Miranda would ever stand, of course) - and to campaign actively for women. That would have made it hard for women to object. Instead, we have the vapid, vain, avaricious Lily whose every Tweet is evidence of unfitness for the role. It's going to get harder and harder for Lily's handmaidens to keep supporting Lily without looking like total idiots.

Terfragette · 12/02/2018 21:42

Springtrolls

I saw a Tweet in which Lily said he was going for a job interview. As he only started Uni in October this must be for a part time job. Unless he meant yet another unpaid post as some kind of rep or officer.

Springtrolls · 12/02/2018 20:57

Whoever added up all the posts also needs to include the begging posts.
Begging for money.
Begging for food.
More money.
Clothes.

It’s ridiculous. Surely LM would have had student loan, and should still be able to use
This. Never mind what other students do get a paying job.

TinselAngel · 12/02/2018 20:55

I'm also blocked by LM on Twitter, despite having never interacted with LM.

Terfragette · 12/02/2018 20:46

And don't forget, Lily is against "cis" women.

He created, owns, runs and admins a secret Facebook group whose top banner shrieks "DOWN WITH CIS".

What the 300+ cis women he was elected to represent would think if they knew this is at present unknown.

PancakeInMaBelly · 12/02/2018 20:43

We all know from the Trans widows thread that "support" means having no qiestions or feelings of your own!

Terfragette · 12/02/2018 20:41

Juzza, Lily has two mums. His birth mum, and his dad's new wife.

I think his birth mum is the one who insists he's a boy and the new stepmum accepts his insistence that he's a girl.

DodoPatrol · 12/02/2018 20:39

That would be so, so surprising. After all, that kid is a beacon of honesty and transparency in all other areas of life and Twitter.

Terfragette · 12/02/2018 20:39

to ASK* it

Terfragette · 12/02/2018 20:38

I played one of those silly Facebook games, choosing to as it "Who Will Break My Heart in 2018?", just for a tea-break bit of fun.

This was the program's response:

This is off-topic a bit, but I'm pondering the lovely Madigan again.

Do you think 'my family were really unsupportive' means that although their parents worked, fed and clothed the little blighter, washed socks etc, they won't pay lip service to the name change?

Do you think the little blighter might some day realise that sock washing, feeding, buying clothes etc IS a form of support (and takes quite a bit of time and effort), now that they are apparently cut off and too poor to buy a new hoody?

I'm wondering if total disregard for 'women's work' might afflict the top echelons of the Labour Party more generally.

Fluffymcflufftown · 12/02/2018 20:22

Is there a probationary period/review on this role? Is there a set of criteria to be met / roles and responsibilities etc that LM ought to be carrying out.
I don't know how these sorts of jobs work to be honest so wondering how monitoring is done.
Also, given as LM is so young and have very little experience of women's lives, are they being mentored and supported? Kinda like Labour maybe don't care enough about women to employ (is it paid?) one for this post but also don't care about their staff to support them.
I'm a member of the Labour party and this is embarrassing.
Where are the grown ups in all this?

MyOwnShed · 12/02/2018 20:14

I'm still just a lurking terf on Twitter so pop over and see what lily's up to from time to time, can't say I've seen anything that's wowed me in a good way yet.

MrGHardy · 12/02/2018 20:06

How transphobic of Lily! Transwomen are women why hasn’t lily done anything for them???

unenthusiasticfuturedancemom · 12/02/2018 20:05

Stop the presses, do you mean to tell me that Lily hasn't been doing the rounds at the local mums and baby groups and setting up days out for lonely female pensioners?

Are you sure? Wink

MyBrilliantDisguise · 12/02/2018 20:03

'Ciswomen' makes me think of bullying, of using expressions that you know will hurt people. I don't have time for anyone who uses that term.
