Labour lose 3 points - ALL women leaving the party

"The 3-point fall in the Labour share [in You Gov poll] is entirely explained by a 6-point fall among women (from 46% to 40%)"

CON 43 (+1)
LAB 39 (-3)
LD 8 (+2)

@jenniferjames says "Oh fucking hell. I broke the Labour party. :-( "

I've got very mixed feelings. On the one hand - go everyone! They'll have to take notice - surely?

But - Jesus Christ let's not let the Tories have another term.

But - we have to stick up for ourselves don't we.

Starting to think the people who say the rapid rise in TRA ideology is being fuelled by those who stand to benefit from a divided left might have a point. Sad

For those who are running the party now (Momentum, Corbyn & McDonnell) it’s more important that Labour are what they consider the real Labour Party than being in power and being in a position to make changes than appeal to middle ground voters *

This.

They don't give a fuck about this country or its people.

Cooroo · 11/02/2018 11:58

Sunset and CH8 - same email as mine. Did you donate to JJ's campaign by any chance? I actually don't recall having emails from the Labour Party before, but couldn't swear to it.

AnotherCassandra · 11/02/2018 11:58

Why would anyone want health care from an NHS that denied science? Confused

UpABitLate · 11/02/2018 11:56

green party core values and links to policies

Floisme · 11/02/2018 11:55

And the more I am patronised, the easier it will be to spoil my ballot paper.

UpABitLate · 11/02/2018 11:54

Quick rundown on my voting history - I have flitted around a bit!

Labour member when youngish >> flounced over iraq war

The joined the Lib Dems, ditched them over sexism, things at conference wanting to reduce the age for prostitution and appearing in porn to 16, there was something else as well, the liberal part seems to often mean liberalising things for the male party members dicks

Then joined the Greens, flounced over theit view of women as "non men"

Looked at WEP who also consider women to be "non men" and clearly centre TIMs in their everything so how they can say they are about women (when TIMs don't share most of the issues that we needed the WEP for) is anyone's guess

Rejoined Labour at that point, cancelled my DD last week over this. Haven't told them why.

So in terms of the political parties on offer
Labour = no interest in women
Greens = no interest in women - I read their policies the other day (posted on another thread) and they have a lengthy trans policy but NO women's policy yes you read that right, none
Lib Dems = no interest in women apart from for sex purposes. Fully on board with TIMS for everything (but bet they wouldn't fuck them, the ones who are interested in paying for sex with 16 yo girls anyway)
WEP = pile o shite only interested in progressing TW not actual women which is extremely disappointing to say the least

Would never vote Tory.

My constituency has been tory all my life (I'm in my 40s) and by a safe margin. Last time, the conservatives won by only a couple of thousand votes. It was a real shocker. Labour have been working very hard because they (we until last week) believe they can do it here. I was quite excited until this.

I get a lot of emails inviting me to do more as they want equality and go to talks and so on. It's completely contradictory to their aims at central level.

Fundamentally politics is still a boys club whatever the colour and they aren't really interested in women. Ditto unions, business, everything.

Popchyk · 11/02/2018 11:52

I'm not a big believer in coincidences, Cooroo.

If this is the first time in your life that the Labour Party have contacted you then there is a reason behind it.

It may be that someone in the LP is looking through the list of donors on the crowdfunder and then separately googling associated email addresses in order to solicit donations, but that strikes me as dodgy also.

Can you ask them both where they got your email address from?

OvaHere · 11/02/2018 11:52

Oh the bare faced hypocrisy of those emails Angry

YTho · 11/02/2018 11:52

Sorry that was for twofishfingers

Everyonematters · 11/02/2018 11:52

Twofish Self-id would mean centuries of rights and protections for women as a class would disappear due to a change in law. Why does this have to be either or? How can anyone seriously be surprised that women (and some men) who have supported Labour for years are not prepared to vote for a party that is happy to do this without even discussing the issues? Trust is broken. The party needs to six that. It's not women's fault.

SunsetBeetch · 11/02/2018 11:52

Oh snap CH8!

YTho · 11/02/2018 11:51

Twoforus, apparently it's all for the benefit of women..

Floisme · 11/02/2018 11:51

I think the 'how dare you even think of this' attitude possibly annoys me even more than self ID.

How about the Labour party asks itself how the hell they've managed to get themselves into a situation where voters like me are deserting them?

How dare they take my support for granted like this?
How dare they try and guilt trip me into voting for them?
How dare they silence dissent?

C8H10N4O2 · 11/02/2018 11:49

Fantastic timing. I've just received this from the Labour Party:

"This week we celebrated 100 years since some women were first granted the vote.

We've taken our rosettes — to celebrate how far we've come — and our placards — to show that the fight is not over, and created these beautiful pin badges to mark this historic occasion.

Everyone who makes a suggested donation of £9 or more towards our fighting funds will be sent one of these commemorative badges to wear with pride.

C8 donate today and show solidarity with women and Labour's campaign to take the next steps towards equality."

I am mailing them back to ask if they are having a laugh.

SunsetBeetch · 11/02/2018 11:48

I received this email from the Labour party today. I am not and never have been a member and that's not going to change! Think I'll reply telling them why.

They're only available until Sunday 18 February, so be quick and don't miss out.

We're proud that Labour's campaigns are funded by thousands of small donations from people like you. As we head towards key local elections in May, we rely on your support to make sure that our local teams are kitted out with everything they need to return Labour victories across the UK.

OvaHere · 11/02/2018 11:46

I donated twice to the crowdfunder in my own name with my main email address which also contains my name. I've not had any of the spam mail or political emails that others have mentioned in this or other threads.

Just wanted to add that for balance because I know we are all a bit jumpy around this issue currently.

AnotherCassandra · 11/02/2018 11:45

I should add, the deluded man thinks he is an actual woman as do the NHS, it's unsafe.

Cooroo · 11/02/2018 11:45

Popchyk - I don't know. I donated in my name, which is unique in the world, and my email is closely related to it. Any search engine would come up with my email instantly. But it could well be coincidence!

AnotherCassandra · 11/02/2018 11:43

What's the point of the NHS when vulnerable women can't access it because deluded stubble blokes in a dress are healthcare professionals and in the wards with women as patients, it's unsafe.

Everyonematters · 11/02/2018 11:42

Or Labour could turn sane and make themselves a party women who want basic rights can choose to vote for?

Twofishfingers · 11/02/2018 11:40

Great fab thanks for that. We will have another term of Conservatives in charge, fucking up our education system and healthcare. Thanks a bunch. All for a good cause. Hmm

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 11/02/2018 11:39

Then I wondered why all of a sudden I've been targeted? Could it be because I donated to Jennifer James' campaign? Anyone else?

If it is then that is a big data protection issue.

PigletWasPoohsFriend · 11/02/2018 11:38

really pisses me off to see women here on mn saying they will vote for tories purely because of one issue (trans). Great for you if you belong to the lucky few who haven't been nearly destroyed by years of real term cuts

I won't vote Tory but there is no way I nor any of my family, who were active Labour members, will vote Labour whilst Corbyn is in charge.

Popchyk · 11/02/2018 11:38

Cooroo,

Can you ask them where they got your email details from? I really hope that neither GoFundMe nor JJ is passing these details on.

I used a fake email on the crowdfunder because I feared something like this.

tumbletastic · 11/02/2018 11:35

Funniest video I have seen and completely the mission statement for any single issue party for women x
