"The 3-point fall in the Labour share [in You Gov poll] is entirely explained by a 6-point fall among women (from 46% to 40%)"

CON 43 (+1)
LAB 39 (-3)
LD 8 (+2)

@jenniferjames says "Oh fucking hell. I broke the Labour party. :-( "

I've got very mixed feelings. On the one hand - go everyone! They'll have to take notice - surely?

But - Jesus Christ let's not let the Tories have another term.

But - we have to stick up for ourselves don't we.

Starting to think the people who say the rapid rise in TRA ideology is being fuelled by those who stand to benefit from a divided left might have a point. Sad

Women are not a minority - momentum bastards are. If they want my vote they'll have to do better than they are now.

FlyTipper · 11/02/2018 17:08

You abdicate power by not voting. You give up a voice in a party when you choose to leave it.

Momentum have driven JC to the helm. Why can't GC feminists form a pressure group within the Labour party and push for change?

I just don't think it is an answer to not participate and expect all the parties to come wooing. Didn't happen with the unionists and lefties that left under the Blair years.

gussyfinknottle · 11/02/2018 17:06

Brexit, indulging antisemitism- those are my primary reasons for not voting Labour. The ridiculous women-hating is an extra reason but not the only reason.

AskBasil · 11/02/2018 16:53

I absolutely cannot ever bring myself to vote Tory.

But I will not vote Labour while they are throwing women under the bus.

I'll stay at home next election, unless there's a party which is standing up and saying that the definition of a woman, isn't whatever a bloke says it is.

thebewilderness · 11/02/2018 16:23

Canada will begin incarcerating convicted criminals by gender identity instead of sex.
There has already been targeted abuse of women by men who identify as trans and so far the government appears to condone it while the feminist poseur PM preens.

FannyWisdom · 11/02/2018 16:02

I'm a card carrying member of old.
It was Glynis Kinnock that signed me up.

I've nowhere to go or I would leave.
I hate self id and I will die on that hill (or my membership will) but this isn't some lefty labour policy.

WEP downwards they all are supporting.

fucks sake

TerfyMcTerface · 11/02/2018 15:54

I am those women:

Thank you Tallulah. You are all most welcome to use it.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 11/02/2018 15:25

Good for you Milly. Your poster is worth a thousand words.

Fekko · 11/02/2018 15:12

Labour and the Tories aren’t the parties of our parents and grandparents.

TheButterflyOfTheStorms · 11/02/2018 15:03

It would feel like spitting on the graves of my ancestors to vote Tory

My mine and mill worker ancestors wouldn't recognise this shower of brocialists. Any many of the women survived the worse of male oppression. They would not react kindly to being told what to think by virtue signalling wankers. My DM in her 70s peaktransed on her own, only turning to me to ask, "men with penises allowed in refuges and prisons, is that right?" "Yes mum" "well that's dreadful".

Don't rely on women, Labour. We clearly can't rely on you.

UpABitLate · 11/02/2018 14:51

They must be loving it.

We all know that with lots of men any attention from women, even if negative, is a "win".

UpABitLate · 11/02/2018 14:51

Yes it's a real dismay how this one issue has overtaken everything.

All my FB groups as well v staunch radfem, it's all trans, all over the world. The conversations about male violence structural inequality racism etc all are so much less as this tramples over everything.

So a handful of men shouting have effectively won the attention of all feminists everywhere, the libfems rushing to pander and the radfems saying WTF how can we do anything as woman as a class no longer exists in society, in law, in anything.

YTho · 11/02/2018 14:46

But then we are already losing them due to lack of funding. Sad times either way.

LangCleg · 11/02/2018 14:35

I guess I'm just disheartened at the thought of the current mess continuing for another 5years on top of this and making our lives even harder.

Me too. In fact, it makes me despise and detest transactivism even more than I already do. We women should be out there campaigning to restore our necessary services from cuts - from refuges to children's centres to respite services. But we can't do that because we can't have any services at all unless we first defend our colonisation by delusional narcissistic men.

Got to do something to make them listen.

sallyarmy1 · 11/02/2018 14:13

I will vote for any party that sorts out the FGM issues, rebukes the 'self-ID' issue, speaks out against the rapes of mainly white women and children by minority groups and supports Israel being the capital of Jerusalem.

In the meantime I will 100% vote Tory. Every. Time.

OlennasWimple · 11/02/2018 13:56

No, this isn't a left / right wing issue - it cuts across party politics.

Re other countries, the example most commonly cited is Ireland. But it's not really an apt comparator, both because of its size and cultural history, plus the change is quite recent. And there are some important safeguards (such as exempting prisons from self-ID) and some carve-outs (such as excluding TIF from joining the priesthood) that show that legislators don't really really believe it

OlennasWimple · 11/02/2018 13:52

I cannot vote for Labour whilst Momentum have such influence on it.

Momentum membership is now over 35,000, and recent elections to Labour's NEC saw posts going to three Momentum members. They now have significant influence in the NEC (though still not as much as the unions), and if they are successful in pushing through policies such as re-selection, can have a radical impact on what the Parliamentary Labour Party looks like. This is a handy summary

Why is Momentum problematic? Many reasons

The then Vice Chair was reported to have made antisemitic comments on a number of occasions, including Holocaust Day. Momentum were slow to react to concerns, and she remains an influential person within the group.

Complaints by women about bullying have been denied and downplayed

Momentum is accused of forcing out various council leaders through sustained campaigns of bullying and harassment. For example, most recently in Haringey, but also in Merseyside.

it has been noted that many influential Momentum members are former members of Militant, the far-left group that Kinnock kicked out of the Labour party in the 1980s.

Momentum members have shown themselves to be very TRA minded - everyone's favourite Women's Officer Even Though I Am Not A Woman is a Momentum member, for example. Whilst JAred O'Mara has been described as "Momentum's first MP", which is clearly demonstrates either a lack of due diligence or (more likely) a lack of concern regarding outright misogyny.

Oh, and they are under investigation by the Electoral Commission regarding their spending in the last General Election

So all in all, I cannot vote Labour whilst Momentum are pulling their strings

MillyTantTerf · 11/02/2018 13:52

Hoping a picture may help people understand.

terryleather · 11/02/2018 13:49

I know another five years of Tory rule is an horrific prospect. But it's five years. Being unable to measure women in order to help them is forever.

I will never, ever, ever, ever, vote for a political party that has self-ID in its manifesto. Never. Fin.*

^^This.

With motherfucking bells on!!!!!!

YTho · 11/02/2018 13:46

Looking at the issue from another point of view, iirc there are already some countries where they have adopted self Id policy. Has it caused big issues for women in those countries so far? I tried to look into it, couldn't find anything but perhaps not looking at the right sources.

Also, is this a left right issue or is that an unnecessary division?

OlennasWimple · 11/02/2018 13:18

We're proud that Labour's campaigns are funded by thousands of small donations from people like you

I thought that the real bucks came from the unions. And the local campaigns rely extensively on (mostly female) unpaid labour Hmm
