So DD's organ donor card just arrived...

...and she waved it at me, so I said "Right you're supposed to have a chat about your wishes with your family." She, continuing to waggle it, says "This is me telling you about my wishes". So I said "Okay, but have you thought about your womb and the trans thing?"

Turns out she doesn't want a man using her womb after her death.

So that's fine, but it made me think; should we all be stipulating this in writing to the organ donor organisation?

Battleax by name ...

AssassinatedBeauty · 10/02/2018 17:06

@Enidthecat if you read my post you'll see I didn't say that people's wishes are always respected. It's fairly obvious that often they are not. That's not the point I was making.

What makes me, me, is my brain, in the system of my body. Biology dictates everything about me. How my brain developed and was shaped by my environment has produced my personality. What else could it have been?

Battleax · 10/02/2018 17:05

Who has the chapter and verse on the HCP who told a transwomen she couldn't have a cervical smear? Enid needs to hear it.

HCPs are being disciplined now, in the NHS for not ignoring science to indulge fantasy.

The self same people who are vocal about the right to retain tackle are also banging on about womb transplants

People say all kinds of crazy shit on twitter. It is totally unregulated. I think for the sake of maintaining credibility, focus on what actual politicians are saying and respond to that. They might be banging on about it but it's biologically impossible at present and I can't really see it becoming possible in the near future.

Enidthecat · 10/02/2018 17:01

Right battleax and what medical professional is going to put themselves forward to do that procedure which is a) probably impossible and b) a cause of further operations ie if a pregnancy did succeed you'd need a c section obviously

It won't happen.

Battleax · 10/02/2018 17:00

foodie if you "can't be arsed" to RTFT it's inevitable that you're going to sound like someone who hasn't RTFT, so I "can't be arsed" to answer you.

BrandNew i do refuse to accept it. Because i don't believe that any of us have a right to undermine the process that is behind organ donation & dictate who gets what. And I will continue to be vocal about it because it is people who want to dictate that often refuse to donate because of it. Meaning that people like me lose loved ones through lack of vital organs. I won't apologise for that one

Enidthecat · 10/02/2018 16:59

beauty you're very naive if you think people's wishes are always respected.

And how can you say you can't be born into the wrong body? If you haven't got a soul what is it that makes you, you?

Biology doesn't dictate your personality, your thoughts (Ok maybe mental health Yes) or your likes and dislikes.

Lovesagin · 10/02/2018 16:59

Food you need to get up to date, the latest is women can have dicks and not need to change a single thing about their body, so no such thing now as the wrong body.

Sorry you're classed as a transphobe hun :(

foodiefil · 10/02/2018 16:59

I would like to donate my organs but they can't go to anyone who is gay

Or called Paula

And nobody Scottish

Battleax · 10/02/2018 16:59

gin it's the women with penises who are causing a problem in that they are obviously not what id consider as seriously wanting to change gender.

That's where you're wrong.

The self same people who are vocal about the right to retain tackle are also banging on about womb transplants.

foodiefil · 10/02/2018 16:58

If you choose to donate your organs then who they're received by shouldn't matter

gin it's the women with penises who are causing a problem in that they are obviously not what id consider as seriously wanting to change gender.

But I think we can safely assume that a woman who has chosen to keep her penis is probably not going to want a womb transplant.

AssassinatedBeauty · 10/02/2018 16:56

@foodiefil because usually people's wishes about their dead body are respected by their relatives and medical professionals. Otherwise everyone who died would have their organs removed for transplant irrespective of their wishes.

No one can be in the wrong body, unless you believe in souls that can be male or female, and then accidentally born into the wrong sex of body.

foodiefil · 10/02/2018 16:55

No I haven't because I can't be arsed. I think your OP sounds transphobic unless - if you've had to explain why it isn't elsewhere then that's your problem

SophoclesTheFox · 10/02/2018 16:55

I'm not going to be refusing to donate organs any time soon, as I'm confident this will be an impossibility for a long time yet. I agree that it's not necessary to be worried about this now, to the point of refusing to donate entirely.

I do think it's unethical to pursue the idea of implanting a uterus into a male bodied person. I can't see how you could argue that it is ethical and beneficial to attempt to do this

Agree with assassinated as above. Honestly, OP, I am Terfy Mc Terfface but I struggle to get too worked up about this. I get your ethical objection, but it's so vanishly unlikely to happen that I wouldn't spend too much energy worrying about it.

foodiefil · 10/02/2018 16:55

That is the whole basis of transsexuality. An individual believes they have been born in the wrong body. Ie a man who believes they should have been born a woman. The wrong body. Do you not understand that Hun?

Battleax · 10/02/2018 16:55

Have I missed your reasonable explanation for deciding who in need receives yours or your child's organs?

You clearly haven't RTFT to be asking that question.

OP posts:
Lovesagin · 10/02/2018 16:54

Food, haven't you heard? Some women have penises now, so there's no such thing as born in the wrong body. To say otherwise is transphobic.

Enidthecat · 10/02/2018 16:54

I'm not saying you would I'm saying I'm sure they'll tell you that's an option.

StatelessPrincess · 10/02/2018 16:54

someone who was in the wrong body
Please explain how someone could end up in the wrong body

foodiefil · 10/02/2018 16:53

Have I missed your reasonable explanation for deciding who in need receives yours or your child's organs?

Battleax · 10/02/2018 16:53

Don't be silly Enid.

There's not a snowball's chance in hell that I'd ever withdraw completely, either.

Much the same as 50 years ago gay kids experienced hatred

Sure. Yes. And now gay & lesbian kids have a high chance of experiencing drugs, surgery & sterility as a reward for being gender nonconforming. Plus those lucky young lesbians get accused of transphobia if they don't like dick. Way better.
