@witchiwasawitch18 if you want some back up I’m sure I’m not the only one who’d be happy to accept a friend request on fb so you’re not a lone voice. Pm me and I’ll send you my fb name

Bump

Just want to add too, if you want to write and complain to your local WA, you can find their contact details here www.womensaid.org.uk/domestic-abuse-directory/ .

And the facebook backlash has started. Sadly with a highly intelligent man who I respected now drowning in political correctness. His way with words and ability to argue is way stronger than mine but I shall stand firm on this.

MockneyReject · 10/02/2018 03:34

From their website

The service is available to anyone who fulfils the criteria irrespective of race, ethnic or national origin, religion (or lack of belief), gender, sexuality, disability or any other characteristic.
Please note, teenage boys aged over 14 years may need to be assessed prior to admission.

Done

Trailedanderror · 09/02/2018 19:44

Mockney was it a women's refuge? Grasping at straws...
The response was prompt and said thank you, we understand your, we're doing this in preparation for the GRA and it's a consulatation- or they're asking for the views of their partner organisations.

PurpleCrowbar · 09/02/2018 19:05

Signed.

MockneyReject · 09/02/2018 18:57

I'm interested in the response you got, Trailedanderror

(I was recently in a refuge that accepted males - residents and staff).

I have signed, but surely we would be better starting one up on UK Government Petitions

biscuitmillionaire · 09/02/2018 17:00

PLEASE NOTE: this petition is via CitizenGO. A quick look at their previous campaigns on their website shows that they are anti-abortion, anti-'radical'feminist, pro 'family' and pro religious rights. Please be aware of this before you sign. I agree with this particular petition but would not like to have my name associated with them. Maybe better to email Women's Aid yourself separately. Or start a separate petition.

Signed. Are there any other actions we can take?

Hidingtonothing · 09/02/2018 16:15

That must be so frustrating Muriel, I can't get past this idea that the feelings of abused, vulnerable women (and children) somehow matter less than that of a TIM Confused Or how the (often well intentioned) people spouting that view manage to convince themselves it's kind. What about kindness to the women whose lives have just fallen apart and need refuge in a safe (emotionally safe as well as physically) place?

Welcome anyway Smile, you're amongst friends here.

MurielPritchett · 09/02/2018 15:56

Signed

I've created a mumsnet account (and will make a twitter account) purely because of this whole agenda.

I feel women are sleepwalking into a nightmare situation because we've been socialized to be kind.
I've a collegue who has two teenage daughters who are very much of the thought that Transwomen should be treated exactly the same as those of us born with xx chromosomes. When she raised this issue with them, they said that Transwomen should be allowed to work in women's refuges because "They've felt like women all their lives"

These are two girls who very much believe in the - if you have to choose between being kind and being right; choose kind- mantra. They cant see the irony of that being the exact opposite of what Transwomen are doing in this case.
