...please could I ask exactly what was your lightbulb moment? What did you hear or read that pushed you to our alpine slopes?

I peaked a long time ago, I'm just posting here because it's so great that so many others are seeing the madness for what it is.
A couple of years ago I was on a thread here where women with PTSD were told that they should just stay at home if they didn't want to share changing rooms and showers with "people who have penises". There was also a TW who would guilt trip and PM everyone about their language.
Now we can finally say that men are men and also not be abused for not wanting men in our changing rooms. Hurrah MN!

Transgendertrend has lots of information for schools here:

One of the things cautioned about is not 'celebrating' trans children as 'brave and heroes' and celebrating their transition - that's such a tool for social contagion. Being kind, watchful waiting and ensuring that both the child and family are supported by insightful and intelligent adults - NOT those seeking to validate their own adult decisions via children.

Link to thread 4 years ago

This is the thread me and Gacapa read.

It's interesting how a lot of automatic responses at the time are "good for you" and I've have put myself 50% in that category at the time - but I think after a while the weirdness of "this is what a woman is" performance presented by a heterosexual male shine through.

(re-reading, he admits in his OP he's come to Mumsnet to get women to basically get loads of " female views" to contradict his wife?!!! AGP widow I think now Sad)

TheFirstMrsDV · 08/02/2018 19:27

What a lot of transpeople fail to understand is that while their lives may not be fad, the slavering transgroupism IS.
Everyone wants a transwoman on their show, in their articles, at their parties and on their podiums. Women who used to show off about have a gay bff now what a transwoman to go shopping with.

It won't last.
And you know what they will be left with? Women who would have previously chained themselves to railings to protect the human rights of any oppressed minority saying 'no fucking way, you threw us under a bus'.
The mainstream lads and lasses who harbour good old fashioned prejudice will do fuck all to help them out.

The media will have moved on to the Next Big Thing.

thebewilderness · 08/02/2018 19:07

When the misogynist white male AGPs came out of the closet and took their place under the trans umbrella in 2005 they set about destroying the LGBT community and then set their sights on Feminism.
I never believed the Big Lie that men transmogrify into women, but 2005 was when I realized that there was danger for more than their long suffering families from these men.

For me it was the autistic girl at the school I work at, who also had quite severe mental health problems, deciding one day she was a boy. Instead of giving her the support to understand her issues and the fact that she also found girls attractive, she was dressing in the boys uniform, wearing a binder and being called a male name within 3 days.

There are now two more of these girls in our school.

I have a new word for handmaiden - transycophant
it appeared in my fuming inner dialogue... so I probably read it upthread.
I was a strong feminist when I was young but a decade or more ago I found myself moving in a world of younger professional colleagues with strange beliefs, and I realised my opinions aligned with those of the (older women)licensed prey. Liberal so-called feminism is a bitter joke.
Of all the peaks, cis - Fuck off! And the kids. And my friend's domineering dad who eventually is discovered to be CDAGP, and his poor mum relegated to "second best" as a woman. All the expensive clothes the budget would never have allowed for her.
I am just so happy to find this place. Strength in numbers people, and thank you for all the erudition and clarity.

Yeah I think Offred was able to speak for a lot of women who felt uneasy about a man who crossdressed seeking out and posting on a largely womens forum (he joined Mumsnet SOLELY for that purpose)

just to get lots of women cheerleading and high fiving him for his anecdote about wearing a dress and heels and being invited on a hen night?

It was like he wanted as many people as possible (women of course) to buy into his wank fantasy about how "girly" and "feminine" he was, under the guise of supporting his right to express himself in his clothing.

And of course, once we've bought into his lie that he's "one of the girls", then we have to let him see us naked and sit in the changing rooms with his stubble and Adams Apple and erection (ladypenis?) and continue the make-believe or we'd hurt his feelings
(and it's not even reality for most GENUINE women - I can't remember the last time I talked about my intimate sex life with another woman or was naked in front of one, but of course it's a man's fantasy view)

But even then, it was hard to articulate that squeamish feeling without being worried that you'd come across as "bigoted" or "right-wing" or "judgemental".

TheRollingCrone · 08/02/2018 18:37

@theaveragewife see you there sister Grin

WitchIwasaWitch18 · 08/02/2018 18:14

Thank you Juzza. Consider their ranks swelled by one thanks to the eye opening by Mumsnet posters.

Gacapa · 08/02/2018 18:14

Offred I believe. Amazing the way she calmly presented things factually but pointing out the reality of the situation.

Absolutely, Elderslie. Yes, I remember it was Offred now. I don't think it's an overestimation to say that thread was an epiphany for me. Her posts were revelatory.

I followed a MN AIBU post a while back about a man who dressed up as a woman to go on a hen night or something along those lines. And a really articulate poster started making all these great points about "apeing" women. It was fascinating. Then I came over to Feminism Chat and never looked back.

This place is truly outstanding and trail blazing. It contains much of the best feminist and gender critical writing on the internet.

WitchIwasaWitch18 · 08/02/2018 18:00

But I think I may be one. Will I get my own changing room in Topshop?

WitchIwasaWitch18 · 08/02/2018 17:59

Sorry but I really don't know what a terf is?

Namechange16 · 08/02/2018 17:56

Is being trans and competing in women's sport just a way for men who could never be at the top of men's sport get to be at the top of women's sport? Like some men have to win at any cost? Devious gits.

It may seem trivial but I think the final proof that we have fallen over the edge of reason is that a man in drag has won the first 'all women' CBB.
I am not misgendering him. He is a gay man who likes to dress as a hyper feminine woman.

And he has won an all woman competition.

Me too. I would have been happier of one of the bog standard males won rather than someone who claimed to be on the spectrum of womanhood (he's a 3 or 4 apparently Hmm ) and mansplained feminism the whole way through the show.

CisMyArse · 08/02/2018 17:41

The Peak Trans threads on the Gender Critical sub on Reddit are just jaw dropping. They’re on number VI now (and counting). Well worth a read but best arm yourself with a stiff gin.

Can you hyperlink? I'm always looking out for material to read.

One heartening thing to note is how many women are now engaged with this.
*
A couple of years ago any threads on Fem Chat about this were sparsely populated by a few posters and threads in AIBU and Chat turned into fights with the majority yelling bigot.
*
The ratios have changed. A lot.

Exactly what I was going to post - I remember a few years ago when I started to grow uneasy, any thread on Chat and even FWR on Trans issues, would go very badly indeed. The tide is certainly turning.
