...please could I ask exactly what was your lightbulb moment? What did you hear or read that pushed you to our alpine slopes?

Has anyone spotted any "cissed off" t-shirts or badges?

Agerbilatemycardigan · 08/02/2018 09:22

I've been talking to Canadian feminists on Twitter Always and some of the things they've told me are terrifying.

They also said that we've still got the chance to stop it from happening here and encouraged us to keep fighting.

MaureenNervosa · 08/02/2018 09:12

Transwomen are transwomen. That's fine and that's enough. Anything more, anything else taken from women, is appropriation. Boundaries need to be re-asserted.

Yes. Well said.

AlllWomenShortbreads · 08/02/2018 09:05

It was when I understood that the harmless and sometimes vulnerable male cross-dressing transsexuals that I knew 20 years ago (who seemed to me oddly stuck on gender stereotypes but didn’t hurt or intrude on anyone) have now had their sheeps’ clothing taken over by a load of sinister and sometimes violent misogynists.

Transwomen are transwomen. That’s fine and that’s enough. Anything more, anything else taken from women, is appropriation. Boundaries need to be re-asserted.

It was when I learnt that lesbians were actually getting shit for not shagging men ‘with girldicks’.

It was when I read the Jazz Jennings kids’ book, saw what it said about makes a girl or a woman. So misogynistic, trivialising and harmful for girls and boys.. Then I read about the not-reversible medicalising of ‘trans kids or teenagers’ (a concept I struggle with- young people change their minds, I know I did). Closing off their choices in future medically and surgically. Poor Jazz. Yet strangely many of the most vocal trans grownups apparently need bother with no such intrusive medication or surgery, they can just ‘identify as’, to enter women’s spaces. Hmm

It was because at work we have an (I feel) AGP colleague who uses our one ladies’ toilet. I have jumped out of my skin a few times now when a big person emerges from the stall behind me and I have to hide that feeling from them and everyone else. I feel I have lost my privacy because I don’t know who is in there next to me or if there is any fetishising of what goes on in the ladies’ cubicles. If I ask HR about it I would be in serious trouble. Its the scary well meaning unquestioning going along with everything and the aggressive silencing of any nonbelievers, like we all have to join in this cult.

Sad it’s all just ramming it home again that nobody in power gives a shit about women and girls’ safety, privacy, dignity or freedom of choice.

There's such a lot of nasty, hate filled stuff on Twitter. Here's an example:

paddypants13 · 08/02/2018 08:30

I released my inner TERF quite a while ago but I'm quite proud that I've managed to "convert" a few people. This has been through Facebook mainly and liking and commenting on Radical Feminist pages.

There were so many things that made me hit peak trans. I think it might have been the cotton ceiling and female peni. I'm not a lesbian but even I can work out that lesbians don't like peni and I know for certain that a penis is a male sex organ.

MsJuniper · 08/02/2018 07:13

Mine was/is more of a slow process but trans crimes being recorded and reported as women's crimes was a big one for me.

amiw · 08/02/2018 06:54

Eyes opening as I read. Off to read more!

Alwaysinmyheart · 08/02/2018 06:48

Dowager I posted that on the thread about swimming pools and this poster from Canada wrote this;

Today 05:57 No1IronGirderRS

@Alwaysinmyheart That is indeed chilling! It's already happened where I'm at.

It keeps breaking my heart when I read posters on MN saying that Canada has embraced this madness. Honestly, I keep talking to people about this and no one had heard anything about it. It seems to be our incredibly liberal leaders who just went ahead, and the media seems to be keeping pretty mum. For the rest of us, we may be a ( mostly- ) liberal country, but we're not insane.

I hope the rest of you manage to halt this BS in its tracks, sadly I think we are already so far down the rabbit hole in Canada that it's going to be really difficult to backtrack (if that is even ever going to be an option).

Bowednotbroken · 08/02/2018 06:47

The discussions around the Spartacus threads - but dozens of times since then!

WingsofNylon · 08/02/2018 06:35

I'm clearly dumb. What the hell does peaked mean in this context?

TheDowagerCuntess · 08/02/2018 06:25

I have to say, I read that twitter post, and just think it's a bit cringe-y / laughable.

Which worryingly, means perhaps I haven't quite peaked just yet?

I mean, seriously. Womanhood is not 'off limits' to actual women, what with us having uteruses and being woman, and all. We will always trump men pretending to be women. And they just hate that.

Don't get me wrong. I thought I had peaked. And I do think there is no room for complacency. But at the same time, actual women will always be top dog, as we are what they wish they were.

I have to qualify this - I have no issue with transwomen going about their lives. As a left-leaning liberal my default position was (was!) full sympathy, and live and let live. It's just the bitter and twisted nutcases who've run my sympathy well out and ruined it for everyone.

TheGoalIsToStayOutOfTheHole · 08/02/2018 06:10

It was Ada Wells that peaked me properly. The whole cuntscum debacle.

Since then I have peaked a thousand times over. Whats funny is a transsexual family member did warn me that things were changing and it would get very bad, but I put her down as just paranoid and worrying too much. So she saw it waaay before I did but I guess she is more aware of the community than I was then.

Mumsnets very own peak trans thread, wonder if we will end up rivalling reddit, I think they are on about 5000 posts or something by now? All new peak trans stories too, and growing by the day.

redexpat · 08/02/2018 05:21

The prisons.

And generally if peoole are saying 4 legs good 2 legs bad about anything then it worries me.

thebewilderness · 08/02/2018 05:12

They certainly don't make any bones about it being a male dominance display for the majority of them do they?

Alwaysinmyheart · 08/02/2018 05:02

Saw this on Twitter today. Chilling

Elderslie · 08/02/2018 02:23

A lot of the dialogue is also about success, power, competition and attention. I’ve realised this as I’ve learned more.

Bruce Jenner gets to the end of his career as a man, the Kardashian girls are getting lots of attention/money and (as the ever wise Greer pointed out) hes jealous and wants a slice of the pie. So he is a woman, and now the limelight is on him and he can cash in.

Young, attractive, women have (and will always have) a sexual impression on successful heterosexual men (which as biological women know is a double edged sword which we CANT OPT OUT OF by putting on a dress or trousers)

“Sissies” want and fetishise and are obsessed with getting that power.

A lot of weird unsuccessful older men want to reinvent themselves as sexy female teenagers (which they think they can get through miniskirts and lipstick and wigs) and then yeah they’re still just a guy in a dress to successful men, so they start ranting about female “privilege”

Half of India Willoughbys ranting on CBB was that as she had “decided” to have an image with big breasts and long blonde hair (most real women accept what they are given and still get fucking sexually harassed ) she felt entitled to have a successful man be attracted to her.

thebewilderness · 08/02/2018 01:57

I did not believe the Big Lie the first time I heard it, that males can transmogrify into females, and females into males. It was too Dr Mengele for me, and everything I learned confirmed the creep factor.
Many more lies are told to support the BIG LIE. That we all start out as female is a supporting lie. A combination of XX and XY is all that is on offer, but this lie is necessary to support the BIG LIE.
Men have been lying about women for as long as there is recorded history. It is a mistake to believe them when they tell us what we are.

Elderslie · 08/02/2018 00:59

I’d say there’s also a “light” form of AGP (linked with clothing fetishism) which some men like to inflict on women who they don’t know - which is where the worry about changing rooms comes in.

I recall an online style forum (basically just advice on everyday dressing)

Think “style and beauty” forum here with more photos and more personal conversations.

A cross dresser joined, and was allowed to post for a while. He identified as a Male cross dresser but didn’t post a profile photo.

Rather than ask the same questions other members did (about whether Marks and Spencer clothing is now worse quality than Debenhams, or even if yellow or blue dresses suited him) he started discussions into how he liked the touch of silk on his skin, how the women would feel about a man in a dress?

Because the members were quite naice, liberal types they did engage with him, contributed their own personal experiences etc.

When he did eventually post a photo of himself it was of his torso, clad only in shiny black corset.

I think the mod banned him after a while, there must have been some complaints.

Basically just a fetishist creep and a pervert.

Speaking of Marks and Spencers. When I was 23 I had some plain black flat over the knee boots. Clearly very well worn etc

Left them whilst I tried on some shoes. Guy in a dress, very softly spoken, elderly, has picked them up and claims that he thought they were stock Hmm

I didn’t say anything as I was in
a hurry, and what would you say really?

Now he’s allowed into the changing rooms. Grim.

HemanOrSheRa · 08/02/2018 00:57

Initially for me it was the attack on Ralph Knibbs. I worked with him back in the early 90's in a LA and could not imagine why someone would want to attack him.

More recently, finding that Transwomen like Miranda Yardley are being called transphobic and subjected to hatred and death threats have absolutely stumped me. I cannot even begin to fathom out how that works.

TheDowagerCuntess · 08/02/2018 00:46

I know.

You don't compete in sport with your mind, or your feelings. You compete with your body. That's what differentiates sport from other completions, and why it's always been segregated by sex.

So if your body is wrong, then you're cheating.

It's very clear cut for me.

DuncanDonut · 08/02/2018 00:35

Sorry - I misread completely without opening the link! It's baffling how this can go on without a gigantic fuss being made.

TheDowagerCuntess · 08/02/2018 00:33

That's my point!

DuncanDonut · 08/02/2018 00:29

I don't know that NZ can protest too much; after allowing Laurel Hubbard on their weightlifting team ...

TheDowagerCuntess · 08/02/2018 00:15

And I'm really embarrassed that we will have a cheat on next year's Commonwealth Games squad.

i.stuff.co.nz/sport/other-sports/99233155/new-zealand-transgender-weightlifter-creates-uneven-playing-field-says-australias-weightlifting-chief

You can bet your bottom dollar that if the Australian team had a man competing against women in their team, the fury from NZ would be uncontainable.
