My identity

transtranswoman · 06/02/2018 14:10

I self identify as a self identified transgender woman. I feel in my heart that is what I am.

I have had no surgery nor taken any artificial hormones.

Unfortunately this means that I am not in possession of a female penis Sad

I believe that self identified trans women that were born biologically male have all the privilege as trans women. Trans women like me can only dream of having a female penis, being good at sports and having our rights recognised.

Therefore I would like to suggest that safe spaces are provided for me, spaces where I don't have to see female peni.

I would also like to be addressed with the correct pronouns (She/Her).

Anyone that disagrees with me is transphobic. This is my right to identify as I choose and demand fair and equal treatment.

I am a self identified transgender woman.

Missy, there's always going to be several trains of thought about things

for me the vital issue is that the legal definitions stick with biology and that areas which are divided by biology - hospital wards etc - continue that way.

and requests for female nurses etc etc

What I don't get is that there are two trains of thought-

  1. Gender is innate, linked to and determined by biological sex
2.gender is conditioned, linked to environment As I understand Trans people either think gender is pre determined- and their gender doesn't match their physical body Or that gender is fluid and therefore can opt in and out of being male or female depending on what one feels at any given time. Well the two accounts contradict one another. I'd like a trans person to explain it to me.

Riverside - is my struggle to be my authentic self just an excuse for a staple food stuff joke? Sad

Riverside2 · 06/02/2018 17:16

Still time to fill in the Scottish consultation, you are allowed to do even if you are not Scottish.

Yes, I do see the irony there Grin

Missymoo100 · 06/02/2018 17:15

Seriously seriously on the subject of transtrans winefred?

Riverside2 · 06/02/2018 17:15

Goldmonday "What on earth is a female penis???? So you want all the perks of being a woman but still refuse to let go of the idea of having a penis of some sort?"

Yes. This is actually quite a good summary, even if accidentally so.

I apologise if I'm repeating really old things but I remember how confusing it was when I was new.

so my summary

  • English and Scottish governments both looking at allowing people to "self identify" which might mean that men who have had no medical treatment at all will be able to access women's changing rooms, women's sports etc

This is already happening in some cases. For instance, Hampstead Women's Pond now say you only have to declare yourself a woman to use the pond. NB there are mixed and men's ponds available as well.

cases to research if you are new

Tara Hudson
Danielle Muscato
Lily Madigan

if you believe that men and women are about "identity" and not biology, then voila - a woman has a penis.

Meanwhile, I continue to sulk that no one laughed at the pasta. Grin

Always best to take everything Very Seriously.

Missymoo100 · 06/02/2018 17:09

Winefred-
Ah I see! Is this an actual serious thing or a joke?

Goldmonday · 06/02/2018 17:08

What on earth is a female penis???? So you want all the perks of being a woman but still refuse to let go of the idea of having a penis of some sort? Why? Does the idea of having a vagina offend you?

Can't tell whether this post is a joke or not??

Winefred · 06/02/2018 17:06

A transwoman is a man who identifies as a woman

A transtranswoman is a woman who identifies as a man identifying as a woman

A transtranstrans...

Winefred · 06/02/2018 17:03

not transwomen, transtranswomen. (Or transtranstranswomen?)

UserSnoozer · 06/02/2018 16:59

What the fuck is a female penis. Biological females do not have a penis.

Missymoo100 · 06/02/2018 16:53

If you are transwomen minus surgery- why are you "not in possession on female peni"?

CallMeAstroTerf · 06/02/2018 16:53

I am also a self-identifying transtranswoman but I am trying to self-id as a ciswoman. Woman-only spaces are triggering because of the female peni, transwomen spaces are triggering because of the hairspray fumes and manginas. Everyone is so transtransdesisting-phobic towards me and my mum hates me as well and refuses to call me Tiddles (my gender-neutral name).
Thanks for everyone feeling my pain

Missymoo100 · 06/02/2018 16:50

Away from privileged trans women- I'm confused I thought you were a transwomen?
What do you think would be adequate in terms of safe spaces?
What do you think is lacking with current medical help available to you?
Thanks river side I get mixed up with it

AllMyBestFriendsAreMetalheads · 06/02/2018 16:49

Oops, x-post.

AllMyBestFriendsAreMetalheads · 06/02/2018 16:48

That thread is a total headfuck.

Some amusing face-palm moments though.

Riverside2 · 06/02/2018 16:45

MissyMoo - some people claim that you can be a woman and have a penis - because being a woman is about how you feel, not your biology.

this often has a connection to wearing dresses and makeup and so on.

Riverside2 · 06/02/2018 16:44

WARNING - TRIGGERING

@SweetGrapes

are you cooking penne because you ran out of this?

transtranswoman · 06/02/2018 16:43

I would like safe spaces where I can change, access healthcare or support away from privileged trans women. And probably men too tbh.
I can't control my jealousy around female peni and therefore feel it is transphobic to even make me think about them.
I have the right to exist as I see fit and to tell me otherwise is hate speech.

OP posts:
Missymoo100 · 06/02/2018 16:39

So what would you like to see change to ensure fair and equal treatment?

OlennasWimple · 06/02/2018 16:34

A female penis is a penis attached to a woman's body.

Unfortunately transtranwoman and I don't have those Sad

SweetGrapes · 06/02/2018 16:34

Yup also called TIM (Trans identifying males)

SweetGrapes · 06/02/2018 16:34

Honky! Welcome to the feminist boards! I take it you haven't been here for a year or so. Smile

Read any of the many trans threads and you should figure it out. Smile
