Just announced on their twitter and Facebook, Woman's Place UK are doing a meeting in London. If it's anything like the Bristol event it will sell out....

Beupstanding it's the London Quakers public FB group....... Gender critical Quakers might want to start considering how to start conversations in their meetings....

MacaroonMama · 24/02/2018 11:50

Sweetgrapes I will PM you too. I am so excited about going! I will be coming in a mad rush as husband and I playing tag team childcare so I can attend, so it may be that I can't make a pre-meeting meeting.

I was thinking of a 'Naice ham' t-shirt though! Datun your penis beaker takes it to a whole new level Grin

SnowontheCordyline · 24/02/2018 10:05

Not sure if I'm going to make it based on the current weather forecast Angry

Datun · 23/02/2018 19:04

but I am REALLY KEEN on seeing Datun there with a penis beaker placard 😂😂😂

Oh shit. So my rash comment won't go under the radar then!

As far as I know, the emails telling you the venue are sent out on the morning of the day. Around 10 or 11 AM.

MyTerfNeedsRolling · 23/02/2018 18:36

As suggested on the swimming pool thread, why dont we all just wear "manly" clothes and barge our way through any protesters...we can all self-id for the evening (dont forget your she-wee for the urinals though)😀

JaimesGoldenHand · 23/02/2018 17:56

Or frankly I might just hoik up my big girl pants and turn up on my own.

JaimesGoldenHand · 23/02/2018 17:56

An alternative is to nominate a few different meet-up venues in areas that are convenient for different people's starting points (within London). Eg West End, City, Kings Cross.

Does anyone know when the venue will be given out? I could help PM people on Monday but not Tuesday.

BeUpStanding · 23/02/2018 17:41

TRAs are going to know where the Women's Place meeting is surely? They just to buy a ticket.

BeUpStanding · 23/02/2018 17:37

That links not working for me unfortunately, but I'm a Quaker. We can be a most feisty bunch when it comes to issues of social justice Grin.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 23/02/2018 17:26

You'll know me, I'll be clutching my pearls Grin

MyTerfNeedsRolling · 23/02/2018 17:24

I now have parents evening too, til 5pm, then an hours train journey to KX. Im not scared to approach the meeting alone but I am REALLY KEEN on seeing Datun there with a penis beaker placard 😂😂😂 And hopefully we can all get together for a sherry afterwards

I've always liked Quakers Smile

Goldmonday · 23/02/2018 14:15

So gutted I'm not in the country otherwise would have loved to go, please please update us on here after the event.

Also be careful, there may be a lot of angry and possibly aggressive TRAs hanging around.

LittleLebowski · 23/02/2018 13:59

Well of course "feminist discussions"Shock! and great that "feminist discussions" = anti-transgender Hmm

Valentinesfart · 23/02/2018 13:37

interesting conversation happening on FB.

BeUpStanding · 23/02/2018 13:06

Sweetgrapes I'll PM you

BeUpStanding · 23/02/2018 13:05

I'll volunteer to be another point of contact.

Mumsnut · 23/02/2018 12:52

Oh arse! Just realised parents evening is on that day. What to do ......?

Geronimoleapinglizards · 23/02/2018 12:32

I've booked and I can't wait

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 23/02/2018 12:19

Meeting at Speakers Corner wasn't meant to compromise the integrity of that meeting. People there for the meeting were given the location on bits of paper & the idea was that we'd all slip away quietly, but the TRAs still turned up there & tried to follow / intimidate us. I think if they knew MNers were going to be gathering at a specific place & going to the meeting from there, it would be very easy for them to use that information.

The quieter we can keep things the better, really.

Chocolatecake84 · 23/02/2018 12:08

Booked. I don't post much here either but these threads have been my radfem awakening too. Looking forward to meeting some of you.

TheGoodEnoughWife · 23/02/2018 12:06

A pub a few tube stops away would work? Quick to get there but not outing for the actual place?

Nightmanagerfan · 23/02/2018 11:29

I’ve just booked and would love to say hello to fellow MNetters

Datun · 23/02/2018 11:16

That's fantastic SweetGrapes.

If one or two other people could also volunteer as the point of contact, then the three of you can decide on a pub. And people can PM you. Spreading the load, as it were.

I'm sure security is going to be tight at the actual venue. But yes, going in groups is definitely preferable.

AstraiaLiberty · 23/02/2018 11:10

I completely understand your concerns, Datun, and agree with not giving out details of the venue itself.

I know that in my case, while I'd love to meet other Mumsnet feminists, the primary reason for wanting a meetup beforehand is so that we can go into the meeting together. It's sensible to assume that transactivists will somehow get knowledge of the venue details and there will be a protestor presence outside. Some of us are a bit apprehensive about walking past them alone - it'd feel much safer in a group. So meeting up inside the venue wouldn't really help there.

Perhaps it'd be possible to arrange a meeting in a central London pub before the venue is announced - that way we're not giving anyone any clues that would compromise the integrity of the meeting, and the venue itself should be easily reachable by tube or bus from a central location.
