When did 'White, Middle Class Women' become the scum of the earth

So utterly sick of women being attacked for being white and middle class,

It's ALL over twitter. 'Check your fucking privilege'. Fuck off.

While I might appear privileged now I certainly didn't come from it and these wankers wouldn't want my early life giftwrapped.

Before the trans thing, I had no idea how hated women are by a lot of people. Including some women, it seems.

Having a fuming Sunday morning and it's too early for Wine

Yeah, it’s just another way to say, ‘shut up, bitches’.

It’s the very fact we are white, middle class and therefore have more agency and power than perhaps any other group of women that makes us such a threat. We need smacking down before we get too full of ourselves.

LangCleg · 04/02/2018 22:43

These people are fucking ridiculous

I mean, talk about peak trans. I'm on my way to the outer space of trans.

All three were black women who had the effrontery to stick up for Rose McGowan, by the way.

OutyMcOutface · 04/02/2018 22:40

Everyone hates the middle classes and white is the new middle class. Being a woman doesn't protect you these days, not that it ever really did. Privilege is about perspective. The greatest privileges I've had in life were, objectively, the greatest disadvantages in my life. It's called growing up working through your shit instead of blaming a lack of 'proviledge' for your failures.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 04/02/2018 22:36

at least three black women called white feminist on Twitter JUST TODAY

These people are fucking ridiculous

I think once they start seriously coming after gay men (any men) they will have had it.

LangCleg · 04/02/2018 22:31

At the moment, white feminist is the new TERF.

Most women called TERF have no idea what radical feminism even is. Likewise, I have seen at least three black women called white feminist on Twitter JUST TODAY. JUST ME. It's stuff and nonsense.

If you're a white woman who tells black women that there is no room to talk about racism in feminist discourse then yes - you deserve to get called a white feminist as a pejorative and you should probably reflect on that.

If a transactivist or transactivist ally calls you a white feminist, just tell them to fuck off. It's bullshit. They're just trying to make you centre penis. As usual.

OvaHere · 04/02/2018 22:26

Sorry that last sentence ended up as word salad. Obviously we are not going after gay men Blush

OvaHere · 04/02/2018 22:24

I've seen similar attitudes emerging from TRAs and their allies about cis white gay men too. I think there are parallels there to cis white MC women being used as a pejorative.

White gay men have had a leading voice in the LGBT over the last few decades and like white MC women often have a degree of economic power. It's probable that after women and lesbian women they are the most likely group to peak trans due to it directly affecting them (though I do wish they'd get a move on collectively).

They are probably coming after white gay men for very similar reasons as many of us.

OlennasWimple · 04/02/2018 22:21

If wealthy white women in first world countries are still being systematically treated as a sub-class, abused and raped by male predators then we can't actually move past the whole feminism thing, can we

Exactly. If those of us who enjoy the "privilege" of being white, middle class feminists all have a #MeToo story, get paid less than our male peers, become invisible to society, suffer DV at the hands of our partners, get murdered by our partners, see our careers falter whilst our male colleagues press ahead etc etc....what hope for those women who have additional hurdles to clear?

CAAKE · 04/02/2018 21:34

The saddest thing is that the world actually still needs white "cis" feminism - as Rose McG and the whole #MeToo movement demonstrate.

If wealthy white women in first world countries are still being systematically treated as a sub-class, abused and raped by male predators then we can't actually move past the whole feminism thing, can we?

Missymoo100 · 04/02/2018 21:31

I don't think identity politics reflects the difficulty people have in their lives- you can be a white male ( so called priviliged), and have a shit life, born into poverty, suffered abuse. You can be from a oppressed group, ie a black female and have a good upbringing. The division of groups says very little about the difficulty individuals encounter.

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 04/02/2018 21:27

Clumsy wording, sorry. I meant "all older women" and was not trying to make out that older black women are something separate.

TheSmallClangerWhistlesAgain · 04/02/2018 21:27

Older women are really reviled as well, aren't they? I think that goes for older black women too - look at how Diane Abbott has been treated by the media.

Missymoo100 · 04/02/2018 21:24

on 1 June, the party’s official mouthpiece newspaper urged the masses to “clear away the evil habits of the old society” by launching an all-out assault on “monsters and demons"
These were defined as "the landlords, rich peasants, counter revolutionaries, bad elements, and rightists who have not thoroughly transformed themselves".
Then destruction of the four olds- old habits, old culture, old customs, old thinking.

  • maos china

I see the parallels with what is happening now. The destruction of the olds is by social engineering, naming everything oppressive. Monsters and demons are oppressors. If your not "progressive" you're a bigot. Our very culture is supposedly oppressive, its in order to reshape it.

Left wing politics have killed millions.

SouthernFox · 04/02/2018 21:20

You know what though? I'm a white middle class feminist, and I will never really know what women of colour experience. But I try to understand their viewpoints, just like I try to imagine the lives of women who have grown up in Iran, or who have been refugees, or have experienced domestic abuse. I'll never know, and I'll never truly understand, but I have to make every effort to listen to their voices. That's what being a human is about.

What fucks me off about TRAs is their total lack of ability to look beyond themselves, to even try to educate themselves. But above all, their refusal to even countenance that someone other than themselves may have (more) valid experience of oppression. And to try and understand how truly terrible the experiences of some women and girls are - raped at eight months old. Cis privilege. Undergone FGM. Cis privilege. Born into sex slavery. Cis privilege. Beyond my contempt, really.

Ereshkigal · 04/02/2018 21:01

White middle class feminist" is used an insult to try to silence the speaker, to make them doubt that what they are saying is valid. It's guilt-tripping whilst hoping that pesky female socialisation will kick in to make the speaker apologise for and retract their claim.

And also this. Spot on.

Ereshkigal · 04/02/2018 21:00

They are using "white middle class feminist" as an insult. They are using it as a way to shut down women. They are using it as a way to shut women up. And the people who are using it the most tend to be white, middle and upper class males. People who have more privilege than those they are accusing of being blind to privilege.

It's oppression olympics. It's a silencing tactic using the less privilege as shield. It's a way for privileged white men to tell women to shut up while still maintaining their lefty "woke" status.

YY. Exactly this.

Missymoo100 · 04/02/2018 20:57

because white middle class women are soon to be no longer useful for the cultural revolution underway. They will be turned into the "oppressors" and rights taken away.
People seem more concerned with trump, than the risk from the left-
What's happening in like a communist take over- like the destruction of the "four olds" in china. I see it happening all the time, the dividing of groups, the attacks on culture and religion- were told they are oppressive, it's just a way of removing it, like in communist china when they started destroying statues. We're heading for something really bad here I feel certain.

Ereshkigal · 04/02/2018 20:55

Reading 'check your white cis privilege' from a weedy, white middle class brat frankly boils my piss. Do they not realise the majority of women, regardless of colour/class will not fancy having their spaces impinged on by men? They really are in for a nasty shock once this all hits the public domain (the world outside of Twitter).

Mine too. And yes, they are in for a shock.

Tinycitrus · 04/02/2018 20:50

Looking at some of the Twitter threads regarding Rise McGowan calling her a ‘white privileged ciswoman’.

And so many of the comments were accompanied by gifs featuring black men and women rolling their eyes etc

And it all just feels like this group is trying to appropriate that status - and yet I’d suggest so many of the transwomen commenting on rose McGowan’s ethnicity are white.

It’s so disingenuous.

Missymoo100 · 04/02/2018 20:39

I can't stand the word privilege... it needs consigning to the rubbish bin, then people need to get back to being individuals rather than sub divided to these little groups.

Missymoo100 · 04/02/2018 20:33

"I do sometimes wonder how much of the calling out culture actually comes from marginalised groups of women and how much is just infighting and virtue signalling amongst wmc women (and men!)"

It's partly main stream media, fuelling the oppression wars. I'm sick of it, the bloody constant lies, partial truths, It's driving me nuts. I just assume now that everything I see is a lie unless I can prove otherwise.

Missymoo100 · 04/02/2018 20:28

Each group fighting for rights, will start to undermine other groups, then all "rights" will disappear.

Missymoo100 · 04/02/2018 20:26

It's social engineering and people need to wake up before it's too late. Intersectionality is all about divide and conquer. There is an onslaught of attacking western culture, it's everywhere. Largely driven by left wing idiots. I'm waiting for it to reach its no doubt hideous conclusion.

OnTheList · 04/02/2018 17:06

The recent twitter furore about trans women being a subset of women exactly the same as black women was astounding. The implications of that are appalling.

Yes, I found that utterly disgusting and beyond offensive.

They have taken the origins of intersectional feminism and bastardised it as a gotcha to make out penis exclusion is the same as racism.

This is exactly what they have done. I am so sick of hearing 'if your feminism is not intersectional then its bullshit' when it actually means, if you do not centre male people in feminism, and stop everything else you are fighting for to fight for these male people, then its bullshit. I did actually think the entire notion of intersectional was bollocks, given how it is used. but it turns out that its not intersectionality thats total crap, its just used in the wrong way. I read a good article on this recently

idgeofreason.wordpress.com/2018/01/19/intersectionality-what-it-is-what-it-is-why-its-been-debased/

Quite long but to the point.

SophoclesTheFox · 04/02/2018 17:05

it really is, langcleg.

As a wiser woman than me once said, that is nothing but running a nice warm bath of someone else’s oppression and hopping in for a wank.
