Hi all.
I was on mumsnet years ago before the who data breach geoff thing. I left and vowed never to return. I never looked at the feminism pages but in the last 12 months I began to lurk. I can't remember what it was that brought me here.
Anyway - I am like a lot of people a very accepting person. I didn't ever question the trans narrative because I likened it to the homophobia of the past. But then I read, I thought and then I read some more and I realised that a debate very much needs to be had about the trans issues. I have been provided with so much information and considered reasoning from you lot - especially Datun - what a legend!
I have read all the links, watched the videos, followed twitter feeds and I have been close to peak trans for a while. I resisted rejoining mumsnet because I didn't see the point and was worried about security because of last time. I 100% can not speak publicly about this because of my job. But I can take it no more and I need to vent.

The BBC video someone else mentioned today is what has finally tipped me over the edge. I have just sent off my complaint to the BBC and I have re-registered to tell someone, anyone that OH YES. I HAVE PEAKED!.

Re BBC I can’t think of a particularly gender critical journalist there. I think most well meaning people who have never really thought about this stuff, but are asked to write about it, will try to be ‘fair to both sides’ (ie they will assume that there are two equal sides in conflict). Uncritical Journalists like that will want to be ‘impartial’ until they know more and instinctively they will want not to be prejudiced. Which is what they are constantly being told they are if they question any trans position because they have aligned themselves with LGB groups despite often having interests in tension with LGB people’s interests.

ChattyLion · 04/02/2018 12:40

What I find amazing is every time I think my peak has been reached, something more comes to light and it happens all over again..Shock

Bejazzled · 04/02/2018 12:38

Nothing from the BBC surprises me now. How they can claim to be 'equal' in any way is ridiculous.

BBC and Labour - corrupt to the core

CallMeAstroTerf · 04/02/2018 12:32

Lily caused my peaking, along with many others I suspect

(I doubt she'll ever cause any 'peaks' for men!! Oooh bitchy Shock)

NaturalWoman · 04/02/2018 12:32

I wonder if the BBC are doing it deliberately?

What with the video; the Andrew Marr/Jeremy Corbyn interview last week; Sally Hitchiner's outrage that we should even be questioning whether men should be allowed into women's refuges...

drinkswineoutofamug · 04/02/2018 12:21

Can I join too please.

CapnHaddock · 04/02/2018 11:42

Ah yes, I wondered if it might be that one. What a blatant propaganda feat that was.

Ekphrasis · 04/02/2018 11:40

May have some?

Cappuccino, look up peach yogurt on YouTube. She's awesome.

CappuccinoCake · 04/02/2018 11:37

I am so going to make cake.

CappuccinoCake · 04/02/2018 11:36

I came to this way of thinking a while back (my daughter in particular is a non "girly" girl and it frightens me that in another family/area she'd be encouraged to trans.) I just wasn't sure of the terminology!
The olympics and sports issues are just nuts. And I'm worried about data and reporting for crime and medical issues as there won't be the distinction :(

I'm in a fb group I otherwise love but has very pro trans parents and I do find it hard watching parents transing their kids.

I love cake - happy to bring and share.... in fact I haven't made cake for a while...

Ekphrasis · 04/02/2018 11:31

Ah.

Toblerone.

The official peak trans chocolate.

Ekphrasis · 04/02/2018 11:29

Yes I just triggered coffee chocolate craving in myself...

I was going to say welcome to the dark side, but I reckon is the clear blue sunny side where we can see for miles.

CorbynTrouserPress · 04/02/2018 11:28

Cappuccino

was just thinking this morning, there's so many peaks round here it quite puts me in mind of Switzerland, or.....er....smutty fiction.

EmpressOfJurisfiction · 04/02/2018 11:26

Cappuccino cake?

You've got me thinking about that now, and Caffè Nero only 15 minutes down the road...

Welcome to the dark side!

Ekphrasis · 04/02/2018 11:25

Riley Dennis peak transed me, with the cotton ceiling.

Ekphrasis · 04/02/2018 11:24

It's getting warmer up here now. Quite a camp.

Ekphrasis · 04/02/2018 11:24

Welcome to the mountain CappuccinoCake.

Coffee cake for you cappuccino?

HumphreyCobblers · 04/02/2018 11:22

Yes CappuccinoCake, exactly that. The moment at which the light dawns.

For me it was the IOC ruling about TIM participating in the Olympics as women competitors. A ruling made by a group that included nine men, one woman and one TIM iirc.

CappuccinoCake · 04/02/2018 11:18

peeks out to ask silly question.

What does peak trans and having peaked mean? Is it when you realise that it's not all A Good Thing/threat to women spaces etc and come across tot he gender critical side?

Fairenuff · 04/02/2018 11:10

Pity that the article didn't do what it said in the title and define 'woman'.

hipsterfun · 04/02/2018 11:08

small contagious, peaktransing virus

Username, anyone?

Welcome, OP Smile

Ekphrasis · 04/02/2018 11:04

My bp struggles now.

But welcome back. And yes, super Datun!

I was with friends last night and found I was able to get tiny references in here and there but had to be careful. Most haven't got a clue and it wasn't the environment.

It's like the matrix; once you see it it's everywhere.

OvaHere · 04/02/2018 09:58

Welcome OP to the first of many peaks Brew

LangCleg · 04/02/2018 09:56

Welcome!

Datun · 04/02/2018 09:55

You know what ohyes? I don't think I'm going to watch it!

I've had to become quite selective in what I read/watch.

As you say, blood pressure.

I have peaked so many times, I don't need to keep doing it to myself.

The Rose McGowan debacle has been posted in AIBU and seems to be peaking people in droves.

Everyone is finally waking up that when we talk about transactivists, we are not talking about the quiet transwoman in accounts who's no threat to anyone.

But, more importantly, I think people are realising the size, strength and depth of the transactivist lobby. These are not a handful of outliers who just happen to be more vocal.

They are recruiting men everywhere, whether trans or not.

Every misogynist in the country is swelling their ranks.

But the tide is turning. Laying into Rose McGowan, of all people, is not going to go down well.
