Not all pussies are pink

So I was gently introducing a friend to the issue of self identification, female penises etc. Came on to the women's march and the "not all pussies are pink" tweet.

She agreed. Not all pussies are pink.
I said we're all pink on the inside.
She said no, pussy refers to vulva - hence the pussy hats being vulvas.

Now help me out here. I thought it refers to vagina. Have I got this wrong?!

She then told me that people of all other skin colours apart from white don't have pink vaginas, either.

I'm straight, white and not an HCP so never seen inside other women's vaginas! She's white with DDs from a black father. I am wondering if I've got this wrong too! And I'm so embarrassed I may have!!!!

Your place or mine, Kittens? Grin

AngryAttackKittens · 03/02/2018 11:53

Actually I've got it! Scones. I'll oppress people with scones.

BigDeskBob · 03/02/2018 11:51

AHH, X post with hundreds. I'm such a slow typist.

AngryAttackKittens · 03/02/2018 11:51

I don't really like cupcakes, too much icing, can I oppress people with brownies or shortbread instead?

BigDeskBob · 03/02/2018 11:50

The hats have ears, too. Why is no one saying 'not all pussies have ears'?

PlaymobilPirate · 03/02/2018 11:50

I don't think the colour matters as much as the awareness behind the hats.

I've made a few - some in pink and some in black. The black is more wearable for those who want to make a quieter statement everyday, not just on marches.

UpABitLate · 03/02/2018 11:50

Mine identifies as a Iberian Lynx so it does have cat ears actually.

Even though you can't see them.

Seeingadistance · 03/02/2018 11:48

One of the women who came up with the idea of the pussy hats is a woman of colour. Those who say it’s racist don’t know what they’re talking about and are usually trying to distract from and negate the purpose of the pussy hats.

goodyzoe · 03/02/2018 11:47

The pussy hats were co-designed by a woman of colour.

They have cat ears, It's a play on words NOT a representation of a vulva.

They are pink because of the association of pink with femininity.

It's kinda ironic (or is that idiotic) to try to silence the work of a WOC on the grounds of racism when you're listening to (probably white) MRAs redefining what her intent was, rather than looking st what is plainly before your eyes - dontchathink?

TL:DR they have fucking cat ears. Does your vulva have cat ears?!

UpABitLate · 03/02/2018 11:45

The racism accusation is to stop women wearing them

But the real reason they want to stop women wearing them is because women's reproductive systems in their entirety are basically deemed transphobic and therefore you mustn't mention them.

It doesn't even make sense. They're cat hats for "pussy" and pink because that's the colour for "girls".

QuentinSummers · 03/02/2018 11:43

Purple sage fem has a whole tag of oppressive cupcakes lol

UpstartCrow · 03/02/2018 11:38

The point was to show a sea of a single bright colour to represent a lot of women showing solidarity. If the hats were all brown it would look like a sea of people with brown hair and would not have been effective.

The derailment is just another way to scream 'white feminism' which is supposed to shut women up.

AngryAttackKittens · 03/02/2018 11:26

The vulva cupcakes came in different colors though. Exactly what shape do they think the vulvas of women who aren't white are?

QuentinSummers · 03/02/2018 11:24

The hats are meant to be cats ffs. It's a pun.
I don't think many white people have neon pink vulvas either.
I've seen this bullshit about "POC vulvas looking different" on a vagina cupcake debacle (sadly now deleted).
It's racist imo because it others POC and also its used mainly by trans activists as a way to justify ladydick- "not all vulvas are the same therefore my penis can be a vulva".

Imagine the womens marches if people made a hat the colour of their vulva. Tgat would be awesome.

AngryAttackKittens · 03/02/2018 11:06

So the people saying this don't understand what a metaphor is, then? They thought the hats were meant to be a visual representation of white women's vulvas? Because I don't know about the rest of you but mine doesn't have ears.

Datun · 03/02/2018 11:05

Pink refers to femininity, not the colour of their pussy or vagina.

Unless peoples genitals are cerise. In which case, acquiring antibiotics would perhaps be more of a pressing problem.

Anyway, I googled it.

It's remarkably difficult to get an answer.

But I did find this.

Darker black women have hot pink vaginal walls. Lighter black women have lighter pink vaginal walls and they're typically warmer than that of the darker ladies.

I don't know about the veracity of the source. It was written in an article tearing down a pick up artist's 'tips'.

I was going to say you might get a woman on here who has firsthand experience.

But to be honest, I don't think I've ever actually looked right inside my own! The occasion hasn't arisen.

I assumed 'not all pussies are pink' was another way of claiming that TIMs can have female parts ie Blue.
