That person was out of order. Just watched the video myself. I get the feeling it was done to direct attention from rose McGowan and onto the person who was criticising (can't recall name and on my phone)

nauticant · 04/02/2018 18:45

No worries Elendon, I see no reason to get involved on that thread.

thebewilderness · 04/02/2018 18:45

Most US states use the FBI definition of rape when charging a crime. This is why the charge is often sexual assault when we think of it as rape. The FBI has recently changed their definition to include penetration with an object and envelopment.

NaturalWoman · 04/02/2018 18:39

Olenna yes, I realised afterwards that that was the case. I'd be interested to know the definition of rape in those cases.

I agree with Elendon. Threads started by MRA/TRAs should be ignored and allowed to fall down the page with no responses. They're just laughing at the angry women. It's what they want.

OvaHere · 04/02/2018 18:36

Sorry bold fail Angry

OvaHere · 04/02/2018 18:35

I posted this in the Women's Aid thread about an hour ago. I wouldn't go as far as to tell others what to do but this is my general philosophy on links.

*I quite often want to link some of the clear, concise threads here when I am arguing elsewhere but I usually just repeat some of the points.

I'm sure many TRAs are aware of MN but I'm always wary of bringing a boatload of GF to this space. I don't often see MN Fem threads linked by others either so perhaps we are all of a similar mind.*

Elendon · 04/02/2018 18:32

I can understand the reaction to that thread you highlighted Nauticant, but please don't give them the juice of publicity by posting there. There are some who get off on it.

OlennasWimple · 04/02/2018 18:30

NaturalWoman - tbf that's the case in the English legal system, IIRC there are some US states where women can be found guilty of rape

SophoclesTheFox · 04/02/2018 18:26

Spooky, nauticant.

Positively eerie.

I am sure Mike won't be the last of the super-woke who will descend on MN to give some uppity women a piece of their minds. Deep joy.

nauticant · 04/02/2018 18:20

I've finally managed to Tweet my support to Rose and made her aware of this group. Hope she sees it.

This was posted at 15:55:47. 17 minutes later the Disgusted by all the transphobia here thread appeared.

thebewilderness · 04/02/2018 18:15

This is a bit of a master class on sexual predators brigading any and every article about sexual predators from the victims perspective.

NaturalWoman · 04/02/2018 18:11

Well given that rape is specifically penetration by penis, it's physically impossible for a woman to rape. Because WOMEN DON'T HAVE DICKS.

OnTheList · 04/02/2018 17:56

From that same thread

twitter.com/magicalfeyfenny/status/959869953934426112

Perverts who only care about genitals you say. Hmm

When someone points out how rare female offenders actually are, this is thrown back...

OnTheList · 04/02/2018 17:53

Jesus fucking christ. one of the replies on that twitter thread pisacake

The fuck? (Cis) women rape, molest, and prey on ppl too. The cis lesbian community is filled with domestic violence and sexual assault. I’ve been raped by other cis women. Don’t play. This line that her “maleness” led her to assault & prey on people is (trans)misogynistic as fuck

The (cis Hmm ) lesbian community is filled with sexual and domestic abuse. of course. More homophobia from the trans crowd. lesbians are just the same as men.

Amazing how 'cis' women rape so often but its kept quiet too. Its almost always those arguing for men in womens spaces, or men to be named women, who these rare rapes happen to. On threads about this, so many lesbians will attack other women, but it almost always happens to those who are arguing for men in womens spaces. I don't want to disbelieve people when they say they were assaulted, but it just seems so convenient that all of these attacks by female people happen to those who have reason to try their hardest to pretend that women are just as bad...

NaturalWoman · 04/02/2018 16:58

I suppose it at leasteans that he's an equal opportunities abuser.

What a vile man Andi Dier is

CAAKE · 04/02/2018 16:04

Those stories are going to keep on coming up now, Ova. Good!

Agerbilatemycardigan · 04/02/2018 15:55

I've finally managed to Tweet my support to Rose and made her aware of this group. Hope she sees it.

OvaHere · 04/02/2018 15:53

Yes Mountains, I remember reading about it at the time. Surprise surprise that Dier has form for this stuff.

MountainsofMars · 04/02/2018 15:49

Oh I remember hearing about that - not about who did it, but that a gay man was hounded from his job in a gay organisation.

OvaHere · 04/02/2018 15:27

Not sure if this has been posted but Dier was involved in the harassment of a gay man back in 2015

ijustwannadance · 04/02/2018 15:17

I was refering to the link in the middle of SophoclesTheFox's post.

DickTERFin · 04/02/2018 15:12

Whilst I wouldn't say it is beyond the realms of possibility that Weinstein could be linked to Dier, I think it likely that they have never come across each other.

The thing is that a women like McGowan, throwing light on the epidemic of male sexual aggression will draw out the abusive dominators from their slimy little holes, like moths to a flame. They will violently defend their privilege and they don't need to organise or collaborate with each other, it's an automatic response ingrained in the system.

CaptainBrickbeard · 04/02/2018 15:10

People are speaking up. On my FB, there are tentative soundings out of gender critical ideas, accompanied with a ‘I haven’t said this before but I can’t keep quiet anymore...’ slant. I feel so sorry that Rose McGowan, yet again, is victimised in such a shocking way that it makes the scales fall from so many eyes.

Elendon · 04/02/2018 14:54

Sorry, other women and journalists.

Please link to the article you despise so much. Because your post ijustwannadance is not clear at all. And I'm sure you mean it to be very clear what article you are referring to. xx

Elendon · 04/02/2018 14:46

Obviously the article linked above is not the New Yorker nor the Federalist article Ijustwannadance

For the record, it would be good if you could link to the article that you mean.

Not only did the New Yorker article

www.newyorker.com/news/news-desk/harvey-weinsteins-army-of-spies

discuss the use of hiring women who purported to be feminists and interested in the story (which was about to implode anyway the New York Times were also on it), but the article explicitly states they wanted to know what the content of McGowan's book was before she agreed to publishing it. The article does have direct links to these people who tried to befriend not only McGowan but other women too. The links ran cold but are strong nonetheless.
