Is "cis" the future ?

I will admit to being new to the topic and still reading but many threads on here have lead me to further reading. I don't think I've ever bothered with the whole feminist thing until now when I see it being threatened by the trans agenda. Im starting to now feel much more protective about women's rights perhaps it's because I'm older or perhaps in my lifetime there's never been a threat to it ? I'm fearful to say even that for being accused of transphobia and I have no issue at all with anyone living their life as they wish - but I have a daughter and am now fearful for the future - will she have safe women only spaces ? Possibly not. Will she have to call herself a cis woman rather than just a woman ?
I dislike the agenda that you cannot debate or disagree or you're a bigot . It seems so backwards and confusing
I feel ignorant about what's going on out there and would love some insight from better informed posters here .

I don't identify as a woman. What an odd thought. I am a woman. It would be like identifying as being alive.

Laine01 · 01/02/2018 19:08

I'm not classing you as feminazis for that reason.

Women can't be transwomen too because they already identify as women.

There is a difference between equal rights for all and getting your own way.

But again you can believe whatever you want as it is your body and choice just as its everyone else's body and choice to do what they want.

SameTerfDifferentUserName · 01/02/2018 19:07

I'm going to start donating £1 to either the AWS or the free speech crowd finder everytime I hear this drivel.

Yes I've heard every argument there is and I disagree. The bottom line is I'm keeping my rights because I WANT TO.

I've not even been here that long and that's my position.

Flowers to everyone who's been fighting this batshittery for years.

TheCatsPaws · 01/02/2018 19:06

I thought trans women meant women who were biologically men but identify as female? I don’t think they’re saying they have women’s biology?

HerFemaleness · 01/02/2018 19:05

Trans women can still be called and treated like women x

Transwomen want to be treated like women. Women just want to be treated like human beings.

newyearsameme80 · 01/02/2018 19:04

Laine no one is suggesting trans people don’t have or shouldn’t have rights
They just require the rights owed to them. We all have human rights. However women have some rights to protection due to centuries of discrimination and violence against them. You get those rights by being born a woman.

I don’t require the extra protections afforded to people with disabilities. I do not complain when I see someone disabled receiving adjustments to support them and say “me too!”

OvaHere · 01/02/2018 19:03

@Ovahere
In my mind i would give transgenders 100% rights to go wherever they want and use whatever they want
But i know women are particularly vulnerable about those types of places and so i agree especially in those circumstances as i also want cis women to feel fairly happy.
It's all about compromise.

I would also be willing to compromise by retaining certain spaces for biological females. As would most women here. It's the transactivists that will not compromise and insist we accept a penis as a female sex organ.

It's pretty insulting to describe women who do not want to get undressed with male bodied strangers in the room 'feminazi's' Hmm

Laine01

Your posts are one of the miriad variations on "why can't you all just be nice?". I could run away to the Bahamas if I had a £ for every time that appeal is made.

No, I'm afraid I can't be nice. Not when the rights of women and girls are being trampled on and no one seems to gaf.

Transwomen are men, not some other "type" of women, they are a type of man otherwise what does the trans part mean?

And if transwomen are women can women be transwomen too. If not why not?

LangCleg · 01/02/2018 19:01

Then why is it any different whether they have rights or not? If they're just as likely to it doesn't matter.

Gosh, how original. Not answered that one before a million times over.

Yep, yep, people gonna murder anyway, right? So why bother with the police?

Geronimoleapinglizards · 01/02/2018 19:01

Sorry me again. I have another question.

If Ian Huntley says he's a woman, are you happy with him being transferred to a woman's prison tomorrow? If, god forbid, you did something which landed you in prison, would you be happy to share a cell with him or a bathroom or sit next to him to eat lunch? If not, why not?

Laine01 · 01/02/2018 18:59

"Males who are trans are as likely to harm women as males who are not"

Then why is it any different whether they have rights or not? If they're just as likely to it doesn't matter.

newyearsameme80 · 01/02/2018 18:58

Cis will never become a widespread term as men won’t use it
Same as men won’t date trans women, while telling other women they are just the same as us - except for relationship purposes.

DodoPatrol · 01/02/2018 18:58

Two slightly different shapes of the same twisty molecule, WildWinds (what a v nice user name that is).

LangCleg · 01/02/2018 18:57

I can understand your insecurities though.

Patronising, much? They are not insecurities. They are protections for women in a patriarchal world afflicted by epidemic levels of male violence.

All the evidence shows that trans identification has no bearing on crime statistics. Males who are trans are as likely to harm women as males who are not.

These are not our insecurities. These are our sex-based protections and rights, won through decades of hard campaigning and sacrifices by our foresisters and foremothers.

You might want to throw them away for the approval of a few feminine--presenting but misogynistic males. We Do. Not.

(And the x after every post is bloody annoying. Petty? Yes. Sorry? No.)

Geronimoleapinglizards · 01/02/2018 18:57

mtf are just as female as anyone else and ftm are just as male as anyone else.

Can you elaborate please? What makes someone a woman. What makes someone a man?

SameTerfDifferentUserName · 01/02/2018 18:57

No Cis is not the future. No Men don't get to define Women. No Men don't get to define female.

Yes there are issues the movement is homophobic, misogynistic and racist.

It effects sports, safeguarding, AWS, data, refuges, prisons, guides, consent, toilets, women's ability to organise themselves as a sex class against sexism and probably 101 other things.

HTH x

It's all about compromise.

Again though i'm not a feminazi myself so can't say to much but i personally believe we can function the same if trans people have the same rights so all i can wish really is that they get all the rights they deserve and nothing else changes.

(and yes i'm done with trying to have a logical and calm discussion)

I just hope what you believe doesn't come true, the world is in a crisis enough as it is just people live what time they have left.

Geronimoleapinglizards · 01/02/2018 18:55

*cis

Sorry, my autocorrect doesn't understand TRA slurs yet

Geronimoleapinglizards · 01/02/2018 18:55

'Cus white scum?'

Charming! Reported.

WildWindsBlowing · 01/02/2018 18:53

Please would someone explain what "isomer" means?

Geronimoleapinglizards · 01/02/2018 18:53

Honestly i don't see a problem with sharing the same toilets but i know people get worried and feel insecure

Yeah like silly rape victims and, I don't know, anorexics and Muslims who have been socialised to feel shame about their bodies around men.

Pfft. Screw 'em. Chill, all ye traumatised wimmin.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 01/02/2018 18:51

Prisons and shelters are different, thats the scum of humanity youre dealing with

Oh c'mon. At least try to stay in character.

CertainHalfDesertedStreets · 01/02/2018 18:50
