www.youngfabians.org.uk/transmisog

''100 years on since the first women got the vote, there are still inequalities in the feminist movement. Why are some feminists still failing transwomen?

The evidence is there if you look for it – Transphobic leaflets being given out in the safe zone at Labour annual conference; prominent party feminists suggesting violence against transwomen; someone being kicked out of a Labour Women’s Network party for harassing a teenage trans woman; fundraisers being started to try and legally challenge Labours trans-inclusive policies; transwomen being excluded from Labour run women’s events by a women’s officer. The list goes on.

Most state their actions aren’t transphobic at all, but they are merely seeking the protection of women’s spaces. Some go further, suggesting transwomen are men’s right activists working purposely to erode women’s hard won protects. They commonly misgender people like me as a means to belittle our experiences and score social media points. And so I think its fair we question how much authority they have as cis-women to decide whether they are being transphobic.''

It continues in this vein.

The article up thread, from when LM was interviewed in Costa states that he's been on a waiting list for hormones for 2 years and is considering having surgery in the future. In the comments section of today's Independent article LM replies to SRR saying that he has a GRC. Can that be true, if he hadn't even started taking hormones a couple of months ago?

NAPALT
BPD
NPD

Not all Psychiatrists are like that.
Bipolar disorder
Narcissistic personality disorder. (Is that right?)

A very good post from missmoney

stoneagefertilitydoll · 01/02/2018 15:33

And keep your penis out of the ladies’. What a difference an apostrophe makes.

From one of the comments on the independent article.. made me chuckle..

LapdanceShoeshine · 01/02/2018 15:32

@cromeyellow0

At a glance at the previous blog post, you can see that it's intelligent and interesting:
www.youngfabians.org.uk/labour_s_relationship_with_towns)

Good grief - written by my local vicar's son! (Vicar belongs to CLP but I didn’t know his son is a young Fabian)

(Sorry, irrelevant to awful Madigan piece but I was very surprised!)

stoneagefertilitydoll · 01/02/2018 15:26

Hm, those two articles were not written by the same people.

I think we can still learn a lot from Milk, certainly I can.

Yeah, the person who wrote that first article would not be so correct around split infinitives. It's been heavily edited.

sexnotgender · 01/02/2018 15:23

Shame that the independent are removing critical comments, I shouldn’t be surprised though.

DullAndOld · 01/02/2018 15:18

I mean according to these guys, anyone who disagrees that they are women is 'inciting hatred'.
So by whining wetly about 'hatred' a man (i.e. a person with a penis) is attempting to shut down women's valid opinions....
OKkkkkk....

DullAndOld · 01/02/2018 15:16

Thank you Shots.

“I find it difficult to know whether we should give them a view. Everyone’s views are valid but when some views are inciting hatred against a group, sometimes there is a duty not to give them a platform,”

He sounds like a deluded drip tbh.

I can't see The Times article either, but they've been willing to take a critical stance in the past, so hopefully this one will too. It sounds like it was a journalist interviewing LM face to face, so I would be AMAZED if they came away with a favourable impression.

I thought the Independent piece had been written by a grown up too. Or at least proof-read and corrected by one.

SchrodingersFrilledLizard · 01/02/2018 15:02

Because that''s what they think women do.

JessicaEccles · 01/02/2018 15:01

Why do these men that all being a woman involves is slapping on a bit of make up (badly) and doing a cretinous pout for the camera?

because that's what they think of women.

Hm, those two articles were not written by the same people.

I would dearly love to be a linguistics expert at this point, because that was my impression as well.

*why do these men think...

DullAndOld · 01/02/2018 14:54

that article is behind a paywall. However even his pic and first paragraph was enough to convince me that I had no wish to read further.

It's a fucking insult.

Theowlinthepussyhat · 01/02/2018 14:51

There's an interesting article from the Times, about how Lily explains how she makes an ideal women's officer. 🙄

OvaHere · 01/02/2018 14:43

They already removed one of the highest rated comments on the article. By a man who was/is running as a candidate and stated he would not allow penises in the ladies room.

SchrodingersFrilledLizard · 01/02/2018 14:37

The Susan Dalgety article that backaftera2yearbreak posted was excellent. Dalgety gets straight to the heart of the matter.

OTOH, the article in The Independent was utter rubbish.

So unfaaaaair!

Lily Madigan has published an article.
OvaHere · 01/02/2018 14:23

I love how the article links the 'transphobic tweets' of Venice Allen and takes you straight to her twitter page with the pinned tweet of Madigan harassing her by meme Grin

HomeTerf · 01/02/2018 14:14

That article...Angry

The fucking brass neck of bigging up the Equality Act in one breath and then spitting all over Jennifer James - who is trying to uphold it - in the next.

It's quite the breathtakingly narcissistic tactic to liken yourself to a an assassinated political icon (whose agenda didn't include eroding the hard-won rights of another oppressed group) Especially when you've never actually done much beyond bleating on twitter about how mean your mum is and how no one understands you.

Mrsmiguelcervantes · 01/02/2018 14:06

People need to stop giving Liam airtime. He has nothing interesting to say.
