Here's my post replying to Moth
Thats an interesting article moth. Best not on the board or MRAs would be all over it!
I was wondering today, hopefully, if the news about darts getting rid of the girls means the overton window is shifting and maybe p0rn will become less acceptable?
If not all this hooha about F1 girls and the presidents club is just tinkering on the edges.

Ophelia, mind if I ask why you're stepping back from feminism

Sanity! I volunteer for a group reaching out to women in prostitution, can't help but think I could do something easier with my time and actually get paid.
I think I mean an emotional step back, and less on tinternet like twitter etc. Maybe work out how to be less emotionally attached.

When trying to quit drinking you need to find your calm lake spaces and feminism ain't one!

I can't actually stop caring though.

picklemepopcorn · 27/04/2018 12:55

Stand down, I've found it!

picklemepopcorn · 27/04/2018 11:44

Hope that goes well, Quentin!

I was halfway through a video, and now I can't find it. It was Oxford students protesting before the oxford meeting. Only short.

Does anyone know where I saw it?

QuentinSummers · 27/04/2018 09:39

Good luck waddle
0phelia don't step back from feminism, you are on fire at the moment. I love your posts.

I have my first therapy session this morning. Am feeling a bit weepy.

Waddle, hope it goes well.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 27/04/2018 03:46

Popping in for a double to get me to sleep. I'm off to talk to my MSP about the Scottish Parliament's redefinition of woman Angry in the morning...

WomaninGreen · 27/04/2018 01:01

Trousers, that sounds lovely

Ophelia, mind if I ask why you're stepping back from feminism? Is it the red mist rage? I have a lot of that.

Anita, I've had drinks with a friend this evening, she was saying "I'm starting to wonder if women's rights are going backwards". I gently pointed out that there's no need to wonder!

Also, thanks to MN, I know the background of the Toronto van guy. Interestingly she hadn't picked up on that from TV news. I now wished I'd watched some to see how it was reported.

0phelia · 26/04/2018 19:35

Anita good luck with your daughter I'm sure it will sink in!

The total celebration of violence against women by the TRA movement gets me every time, and how it's all supported by liberals.

(Currently trying to quit wine and step back from feminism and failing at both )

Wine
AnitaLovesVictor · 26/04/2018 19:28

Ooh - I'm having a gin & tonic - having an on-going argument with DD about her attitude to homework (fgs! The argument that feminists have fought for her right to education doesn't seem to be working...) which is driving me to drink Grin

So this trans rights movement - it goes without saying that I think trans people have human rights - but this lady-penis, cotton ceiling, chest-feeding, masked men at women's meetings etc, calling Mumsnet nazis - I've peaked so many times in the past few months, I can't see the ground anymore.

It's affecting me emotionally at the moment - it's almost like the 7 stages of grief for me at moment. Shock, anger, depression etc etc (can't see me getting to 'acceptance"). When I lost my dad, I went through all the stages (sometimes going through them all in the space of an hour) - and I feel similar now - but politically. Like I'm losing women's rights - and I'm wondering about the affect on my daughter - on all of us.

I have started early on the wine, celebrating the planting of my new balcony garden. Yes, it is just a few pots, but its all mine.

I love that.

Trousersdontmakemeaman · 26/04/2018 17:50

It is, apart from the sudden downpours of rain.

Ereshkigal · 26/04/2018 17:28

Sounds lovely! Smile

Trousersdontmakemeaman · 26/04/2018 16:57

I have started early on the wine, celebrating the planting of my new balcony garden. Yes, it is just a few pots, but its all mine. Strawberry plants. A lovely jasmine. Rosemary and lavender. Smell heaven.

And I'm back... the poster formerly known as HairyB...T... (Took a while to dereg and re-reg due to various cock-ups on my part.

Anyway, mine's a swift half before doing the school run. Ah, it's good to be back in the surroundings of the pub, settling into an armchair by the fire. Love Datun's description of the pub.

Waddlelikeapenguin · 25/04/2018 22:28

woman congratulations Wine

I looked like this Confused when I saw the Datun deletion.

I got to talk to an actual (lovely, feminist) person from here today & it was great Smile

Theinconstantgardener · 25/04/2018 22:15

Datun thats a lovely description. You write so beautifully. (I hate pubs irl)
Today is my Friday so I'm having a large ginGin Cheers everyone!

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 25/04/2018 22:05

I think MNHQ are stuck between a rock and a hard place to be fair to them

Would not fancy that job but its getting ridiculous!

Annoyed Angry

Datun · 25/04/2018 21:52

Rufus - you're really make me laugh. Thank you for sticking up for me!

I don't know why I got deleted. Because I can't remember what I wrote.

Probably called the person he, in an effort to clarify why men don't menstruate.

I have to say, allowing women to talk about the concept, but not allowing them to misgender must be a fricken nightmare in terms of trying to interpret what's deletable.

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 25/04/2018 20:37

SEE SEE

ON THE!!!!

Obviously!!

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 25/04/2018 20:37

Rufustheconstantreindeer · 25/04/2018 19:37

WomaninGreen · 25/04/2018 18:25

Thanks Datun and Erishkigal

Datun, what a beautiful description of this pub....I feel quite emotional!

Popping to a real pub shortly for mini celebration with family but thanks all - see you another night no doubt! Gin Flowers

Datun · 25/04/2018 18:19

Excellent WomaninGreen. Champagne all round, on me. I'm feeling generous.

And I agree. Although this thread is public and anyone can see it, I can't help feeling that there is an actual pub that I am in, called the Bluestocking.

It's one of those places you might miss, should you be looking the other way, momentarily. Or, because occasionally, it's fairly misty around these parts.

And few locals frequent the place. Not for any bad reason, they're happy to deliver barrels, etc. It's just the feeling that the place shifts a little. Occasionally it's bustling and brightly lit. But other times it's only the glow from a few candles that indicates that it's open at all.

And yet the door is never locked. However dark the night.
