Maybe women could self identify as trans for the ATS?

OnTheList · 05/02/2018 16:22

You’ll be happy to hear that #LYLAGM18 unanimously passed a motion backing the creation of a separate Trans officer role and the group affirmed its commitment to having all those who self-identify as women on the all-female shortlists!!

If I am reading this right, there is a separate trans officer post (which I assume, needs to be held by a transperson? As thats how it should be) but also trans people can self identify their way onto the female lists? How fair and progressive Hmm

OlennasWimple · 05/02/2018 15:20

Oh well, perhaps Lily can stop playing at being Women's Officer now and go for Trans Officer.

There was a trans officer post on the CLP where LM is the Women's Officer, but he decided not to run for that....

OvaHere · 05/02/2018 14:21

It will probably be Lily again. It's not like being a Women's officer takes up much of their time or is distinguishable between what a Trans officer would look like.

NotTerfNorCis · 05/02/2018 14:10

I am 99% sure that their trans officer will be a TIM, not a TIF.

But if they are what they say they are - men or women, why the need for a Trans Officer? Surely one negates the other?

Terftastic · 05/02/2018 13:40

Oh well, perhaps Lily can stop playing at being Women's Officer now and go for Trans Officer.

What are the chances of that now.... mmm - zero to negative?

I can't vote Labour again.

pamish · 05/02/2018 13:36

young labour are just soooo woke

Justabunchofcunts · 05/02/2018 13:26

Good question. Does anyone know?

GrimDamnFanjo · 05/02/2018 13:11

Who is the third Labour member to be suspended?

OlennasWimple · 05/02/2018 12:27

Lily Madigan is so self-absorbed that he thinks this is all about "TERFs" suing him Hmm

boatyardblues · 05/02/2018 07:19

I was at some work-related training on the GDPR recently and linking an individual to their (anonymous or otherwise) social media presence/accounts will be covered as a breach/abuse of sensitive data. Labour need to get ahead of this - and quickly - or else they will be looking at massive fines from May. I also wondered if that’s why the TRAs had done this now. Many of them work in tech roles, so should be aware of the scope if the imminent GDPR.

ChattyLion · 05/02/2018 07:14

Great that Margot James is doing this as an influential senior Tory, and as a lesbian MP. People will listen to her in her party. Thank you to her. Flowers

MorningstarMoon · 05/02/2018 03:25

Place marking while i catch up

pamish · 05/02/2018 02:35

Margot James MP has tweeted support of Janice Turner's Times article.

That doubles the number of MPs who are sepaking out.

pamish · 05/02/2018 01:53

It's not just Labour. As I keep posting whenever I can. The Tories are leading on it. All parties except UKIP and DUP are following. They are all desperate for the youth vote and the TRAs have created a very powerful cult to entrap them.

thebewilderness · 05/02/2018 01:18

I do not understand Labour's position that trans identified males are a subset of the female classification rather than a subset of the male classification. That makes no sense.

OvaHere · 05/02/2018 00:46

Thanks for the explanation. That sounds pretty bad if so.

NotALabourMemberImAfraidLads · 05/02/2018 00:36

I'm definitely not an expert but I think one of the key issues re the list they have been compiling is that they have people working in Labour's membership services department who are misusing the official Labour membership records to access and then publish sensitive data on who is a Labour member (along with positions held, constituency etc). The Labour Party as an organisation is bound by rules on how it handles the information provided to it by its members.

OvaHere · 05/02/2018 00:16

That's a lot of names Shock

Is it a good idea legally speaking to have published those? Will it be viewed as problematic as the Terf List? I realise nobody is trying to kick out the people on JJ list but just wondering.

NotALabourMemberImAfraidLads · 05/02/2018 00:10

Full list of those involved in the breach of Labour members' data now published:

www.gofundme.com/fighting-for-female-representatives?viewupdates=1

Any update yet from the ICO or the police on this crime? Have Unison or Unite responded about their officials' involvement in this and how they are planning to meet their legal duty to ensure their members' data is protected?

nauticant · 04/02/2018 20:54

I'm sure many TRAs are aware of MN but I'm always wary of bringing a boatload of GF to this space. I don't often see MN Fem threads linked by others either so perhaps we are all of a similar mind.

I've seen it happen on other forums, with the cocky idea that "we're better than them, we'll out-argue them" but what happens is that the GF invaders don't want to argue, they want to spoil, and eventually they succeed because decent posters see the good being drowned out by shit and walk away. Never invite arseholes to come and stay.

thebewilderness · 04/02/2018 19:16

On the thread about the right to request medical practitioners of the same sex, a few weeks or days ago, a number of men said they always ask for a female doctor for reasons of personal preference which may have something to do with childhood experiences that are nobodies business.

pamish · 04/02/2018 18:21

I sent a link to the thread to Pilgrim Tucker. She needs this sanity.

OvaHere · 04/02/2018 17:18

I quite often want to link some of the clear, concise threads here when I am arguing elsewhere but I usually just repeat some of the points.
