Lots of fab women (and men and children) marching against Trump in the USA today.
Good to see that they weren't bullied out of wearing their pussy hats either.

@Thehairthebod I agree with your point, if I got a pound for every time WOC and Black People are thrown in as an anecdote to strengthen those arguments I would be very rich. However I think as a Black women I can't just ignore the plight of the Black man, misogyny or not. As the biggest thing both women and men of the Black community have had to deal with historically and currently is Racism. When Black family's were systemically ripped apart, wives and husbands sold separately into slavery, children separated and sold during slavery. Segregation in the US, The Jjm Crow Era, The prison to pipeline system. The journey the Black woman has had to travel and still does us very different so you can't just throw us in the mix for some colour

Thehairthebod · 21/01/2018 11:08

80sQueen I was more referring to the appropriation by men and TIMs of 'intersectional' in order to deflect.

When most of these people use intersectional, they don't really care about black women, but they know that they can appropriate that term to try and centre males in feminism.

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 21/01/2018 11:03

There is no question that women of colour are facing disadvantage on both fronts which is exactly why we need a genuinely intersectional analysis.

The term needs to be reclaimed from these parasitic males.

80sQueen · 21/01/2018 11:00

So while you all self congratulate yourselves at how well your doing in that March J and many of my Brown female friends are wary of the feminist movement and always will be.

80sQueen · 21/01/2018 10:59

@Thehairthebod really? Actually I find quite a few white feminists case in point your comment love to dismiss, minimise and straight up ignore Black women's experiences historically and currently. If we are genuinely talking about women's rights let's own the history of misogyny and racism in relation to Black women. The historical experimentation without anaesthetic on Black female bodies so that you can the medical treatment you have today. The use of the Black woman and Black mans body without consent in Medicinal practice "Henrietta Lacks" . The use of the brown female body to carry children for white Women who can't have children via surrogacy. The fact that despite the gender pay gap, white women still earn more and progress further quicker than brown women in the work place. How about we acknowledge all the benefits that come with being a white female

80sQueen · 21/01/2018 10:53

@ALittleBitOfButter nope it was over 50% of white women. A uncomfortable fact I'm sure but it needs to be acknowledged and addressed not minimised.

Thehairthebod · 21/01/2018 10:51

This whole 'intersectional' thing at the moment is just one huge 'whatabout' in order to shut women up and deflect from the real issues isn't it?

Distract women from talking about their SEX BASED oppression by telling them that their feminism must intersect with a dick.

80sQueen · 21/01/2018 10:51

@therealposieparker apologies thought you were talking to me

therealposieparker · 21/01/2018 10:49

Twans do like to group WOC with trans women, as if anyone was under the false notion that black women aren't women.

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 21/01/2018 10:32

Thanks Super.

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 21/01/2018 10:31

Yes empress it is. Always has been. Very different experience to the mixed marches with 'women' in the title

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 21/01/2018 10:07

The latest transactivist wheeze is to suggest that 'white feminism' is exclusive of women of colour as well as TIMs in order to suggest an ontological equivalence between these groups and effectively appropriate the genuine claim of women of colour to be centred in feminism.

It's clever, you've got to admit. And really fucking annoying.

DrStringzDulcimer · 21/01/2018 09:50

I think @posie was being sarcastic with that hashtag

therealposieparker · 21/01/2018 09:50

No, I'm being sarcastic about Monroe calling the pink pussy hats racist considering they were the brain child of a woman of colour. I hadn't even seen your comment.

ALittleBitOfButter · 21/01/2018 09:49

I read somewhere that it was only 25% of white women who voted for Trump, given only 50% of people chose to vote.

DrStringzDulcimer · 21/01/2018 09:49

I've seen a lot of vaginas* and I can assure Munroe that they're all pink, to some degree or other.

*work-related, honest Grin

80sQueen · 21/01/2018 09:48

@therealposieparker I'm assuming your referring to me. Given over 50% of White Women chose misogyny and racism. You calling me a racist is laughable

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 21/01/2018 09:43

But is it about women? Actual biological ones?

SuperLoudPoppingAction · 21/01/2018 09:27

Million women rise is coming up soon I'd anyone wants to go on a big women-centred March. It's amazing

EnthusiasmIsDisturbed · 21/01/2018 09:26

centering reproductive systems

Confused what does that even mean

LefkosiaTigers · 21/01/2018 09:23

How depressing that these men are becoming spokespeople for women's movements.

What, exactly, is the point in intersectional feminism that centres men? What do they think they are fighting for?

therealposieparker · 21/01/2018 09:21

And a WOC invented the pussy hat thing. #racist

therealposieparker · 21/01/2018 09:21

Can't women see that trans women only ever talk about trans issues, which is entirely male socialisation in a nut shell

Battleax · 21/01/2018 09:21

Yes, it struck me just as I hit "post" Smile

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 21/01/2018 09:20

I think loopy works just as well if not better, Battleax.
