How do you define being a women?

When you were born did you have a vagina and female internal reproductive organs? Are you now an adult? Then you are a woman.

If when you were born you had a penis and you are now an adult then you are a man.

If when you were born it wasn’t possible to tell then you will know about that all ready and are a tiny tiny percentage of the population.

@Jozxyqk, Flowers Don't cry over this. You are a fantastic strong person. If it's any comfort, I do think we might be seeing a bit of a sea change at the moment. I hope so, anyway.

I’m just so disappointed in this new campaign to uphold gender stereotypes in the name of progress.

This morning my girls were watching a cbbc thing called ‘My Life’ which featured children and teens taking about gender.

And the messsge that came through was that if you like playing families, wearing dresses and doing your hair you were more like a girl.

Whereas active tough and tumble, football and skateboarding were seen as ‘boy’ activities.

Nothing was said to counter these attitudes- except that perhaps liking football and not liking dresses means you are really a boy.

Wtf?

I tell them there are lots of ways to be a girl. You are a girl who likes football, skateboarding, karate and occasionally punching your siblings. These are s ‘girl’ behaviour traits.

These fucking idiots on twitter. Honestly. Angry

What happens when you are a female human adult, you wear nail varnish at the same time as using a drill or chainsaw and wearing work boots? Does the universe implode? Is it an existential crisis?

Edinburghlass1991 · 20/01/2018 17:41

How do you define being a women?
Can you?
What a prickish thing to say i dont wear make up etc but i am a women

Jozxyqk · 20/01/2018 17:39

Excellent. I am clearly a man. Very short hair with no product in it, zero makeup or nail polish for absolutely ages, no jewellery. Blue jeans & a plain t-shirt & jumper. Unisex walking shoes. Of course, it doesn't matter that I'm disabled & can't always dress myself independently as I can't raise both arms & don't have full use of one hand, I can't apply makeup, wash or groom long hair (& a lost a lot of it due to meds) so it now looks better extremely short, & I'm unsteady on my feet so heels are right out. I birthed & breastfed my DD but the lack of a fucking dress & makeup means I am not a valid woman.

Maybe if some of us were men, someone might listen to our point of view.

I am actually in tears at this. I almost never cry. Fucking wanker.

Gingernaut · 20/01/2018 17:37

So I am a man? With the menopause rearing it's ugly head. Confused

Vicxy · 20/01/2018 17:34

I am not a woman, and the transactivists would hate that guy also as there is no needing to be feminine from the trans side to 'be a woman' either

Shineystrawberrylover · 20/01/2018 17:32

Yeah. Not the first time someone has defined me as non woman by my looks and clothes. Nice attitude particularly the add on that -see gender dysphoria. No.

Terrylene · 20/01/2018 17:31

I hope you are wearing your heels and frilly pinny then Wink

SimonBridges · 20/01/2018 17:31

You know I’ve worked out what has happened.

I’ve always wanted to be more interesting that a heterosexual, white, English woman. I know that I can’t change my race or sexually but I could change from being English. I could become Welsh, Scottish or Irish perhaps. That would be far more interesting.
And that is what’s happening here. Being a white, heterosexual, English man is about as vanilla as it gets. They can’t change any of the rest of it to make themselves more interesting and buy some ‘protected characteristics’ and something they can complain about being discriminated against.

DeleteOrDecay · 20/01/2018 17:30

How dare anyone reduce womanhood to nothing but lazy, sexist stereotypeAngry

EamonnWright · 20/01/2018 17:29

Actually I think I still might be a Lesbian! I'm currently in the kitchen watching a pot of stew and one of Bolognese. Have the Tupperware tubs and stickers handy also to split it all up. I'm also a single parent. This all sounds very 'women' to me Hmm

Ereshkigal · 20/01/2018 17:27

I am constantly amazed by the gall of many of these young people who have a Patreon account or similar in their profiles and are essentially begging for donations to it. At the risk of sounding like a Daily Mail reader, why don't they just go out and get a job?

Because they are entitled narcissists, can't be arsed to do anything they feel is beneath them, and the world has never been short of suckers.

badbadhusky · 20/01/2018 17:24

I'm a woman at work and a man at home.

Same here. Since most of our sex happens at the weekend, does that make DH gay?

SimonBridges · 20/01/2018 17:23

Get offended at the term and act offended. If these wankers are demanding the right not to be 'misgenderd' then women should be demanding the right to be 'gendered'.

Exactly fucking this.

SansaClegane · 20/01/2018 17:22

Wow! Yesterday I was a woman but today I'm a man! Amazing! I wonder if I'll turn into a woman again on Monday when I get ready for work with makeup, dress, heels... Hmm

FreiasBathtub · 20/01/2018 17:22

Do you know what I don't get?

'Race is not fluid'? I mean, surely race is WAY more of a spectrum than gender? Unless we're back to the one-drop rule, which wasn't exactly the high point of human society? And judges people on their physical presentation rather than their inner sense of self, which as we all know is literal violence.

I wonder how all the people, especially mixed race people, especially people who are taken as a race other than the one they actually are, who have written thoughtfully about these experiences, would feel to be told that it doesn't count. Because race is not fluid.

I mean, technically I'm Jewish but I have to tell you I feel a lot less Jewish now than I did when I was 15 or 16. But apparently that kind of fluidity just doesn't happen.

SimonBridges · 20/01/2018 17:21

And only a man could think that being a woman is nothing more than putting on a frock and sling backs.

JaimesGoldenHand · 20/01/2018 17:21

I'm a woman at work and a man at home. I get less career advancement but I still have to put the bins out.

SimonBridges · 20/01/2018 17:20

WOMAN IS NOT A DRESSING UP COSTUME.

I do wear make up most days, and often dresses.
However I earn more than my dh and had my pregnancy been successful then he would have gone part time to be the primary carer.

What the fuck am I then?

LardyMardy · 20/01/2018 17:20

Ooooo is there free curry? I’ll wear whatever you like for a free curry every week.

splendide · 20/01/2018 17:18

Yeah I m pretty sure she’s female. Still a stupid definition in that tweet though.
