Wrong side of history

Here is something I know to be true: those campaigning against trans rights will fail. Your money will be raised and spent and wasted. Your legal challenges will not succeed. Your relentless attempts to do injustice will fail. You are on the wrong side of history. Your children will grow up knowing better than you. You cannot stop progress. Your efforts are in vain.

And every time I'm proven right - every time a court judgment goes against you and every time a law protecting trans men and women is passed and every time equality is further enshrined in the laws of this country I am going to return to this thread for the pure and petty purpose of telling you I TOLD YOU SO.

Please, nobody report this thread! Quite apart from the wit and logic deployed (I don't mean by you, lyra, sit down) and the post by donkey which is brilliant, the paucity of thought and the petty viciousness of the OP so clearly demonstrates the reaction by trans activists to women standing up for ourselves.

It's a masterclass and it really ought to be left to stand.

one of the most right-wing and reactionary sites on the internet

hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha

nope. try again.

whoputthecatout · 15/01/2018 19:50

Donated - specially for you Lyra.

SophoclesTheFox · 15/01/2018 19:48

Lyra, in your urge to dismiss us as right wing, you seem to have missed the fact that we're donating to a left wing cause, you doughnut.

I think much of what is going on here has eluded you.

And while I thank you for your concern about me wasting my money, I can assure you I have loads of it left, and the cause of defending women's rights is absolutely going to be getting the benefit of it, now and when I die Grin

When people say wrong side of history, I just think "you've not read much history, have you?". History is written by the winners. The winners quite often aren't the good guys...it's a fatuous thing to say.

I’m not Labour either Smile not a Tory before I get that one, mostly a frustrated floater who ends up going LD!
By the way, anyone else noticed that a classic tactic in discussions like this is for the one screaming ‘terf’ Or similar tends to focus on spelling mistakes rather than addressing the point being made? I’ve noticed it quite a lot on Twitter recently and the OP did it here further up there ^^
Shows me that half the time they’ve got one argument and that’s it..

Fekko · 15/01/2018 19:45

Mine were green and white stripes.

TragicOutpostofthe70s · 15/01/2018 19:44

LyraPotter, yabvvvvvvvvvvvvu, young'un. The 70s were great. Everything was yellowish, even the air. We had to have candles during the black-outs, you sat in the car while your parents were in the pub and everyone drove home without seat belts.

And I had the best purple flared dungarees.

ReefAndRiz · 15/01/2018 19:40

Here is something I know to be true: those campaigning against trans rights will fail.

Do you mean the campaign to retain all woman shortlists for women?

whoputthecatout · 15/01/2018 19:38

(one of the most right wing and reactionary sites on the internet...)

Oh Lyra: that was a spit coffee over keyboard moment.

I'm a feminist and love the FWR board but I am sometimes wary of posting as I am not "a lefty", don't even vote Labour and feel like I would stick out like a sore thumb on many threads, even though I am not right wing - just mildly soft centre re most issues. I would hazard a guess that the majority of posters on here are Labour leaning unless we have the silent Tories lurking....

But you have emboldened me to ask my lefty friends on here if it is OK for me to donate as I am not Labour. I want to donate as it is sad to see a once great political movement taken over by whack jobs who have clearly never even passed their GCSE in biology.

DistaffSide · 15/01/2018 19:38

Thehairthebod · 15/01/2018 19:30

Oh ffs!

Mytholmroyd · 15/01/2018 19:30

I've spent 53 years being belittled, abused and sidelined because I was born female. I'll be damned if I'll let that happen to my daughters and my granddaughter.

Do your fucking worst. If nothing else, I'll go down fighting.

Seconded Smile

AskBasil · 15/01/2018 19:29
