I asked for a thread to be pulled as I thought I had made a mistake and that Lilly Madigan was in fact just joshing about being able to get pregnant but no...

Lily Madigan Dec 28
‏Womb implants are now possible. It's quite exciting. Expensive currently but yes if I wanted to in the future, reasonably I could get pregnant x
"I think you are unintentionally being transphobic. I can get pregnant. Not right now, which is true of many women. Please don't single me out" Lilly s own words.

I don t want this to be about LM as such but I think that some parts of the trans community have no idea of the medical implications involved in transition....

But anyone can ‘intend’ anything at any time. Thats not a foundation for taking legally meaningful action on.

I agree. We need to challenge the EA and get both the definitions tightened up and the exemptions strengthened and put public pressure on organisations to respect women's rights. This law was written, as was the GRA, for transsexuals with dysphoria, not the new breed of "female penis" transactivist. And certainly not for people who claim to be a man one day and woman the next.

Thehairthebod · 02/01/2018 16:34

Looking at Lily's tweets over the last few days, I have to say I honestly in all seriousness think that it is Liam Madigan trolling/doing some sort of experiment to show how ridiculous the right-on lefties are.

The tweets about getting pregnant just set off my trolldar, you know how sometimes threads on here do? They just don't sit right. And a lot of the other tweets are becoming increasingly bizarre. And then the television appearances just don't seem genuine, although that could just be lack of charisma. The overuse of 'solidarity' and 'comarades', just seems like it might be mocking it all. And then think back to his 'Saville's Apprentice' days, he might just be massively taking the piss, and being 19 just hasn't thought about the long term consequences.

Today, after all the bizarre pregnancy tweets, Lily retweeted something from Owen Jones from last month, tweeting his support for them. It was just odd, as if he was reminding people, including Owen himself, that Owen supports this kind of batshittery.

Anyway, troll or not, I'm pretty sure that Owen, Jeremy and Angela are going to be slowly backing away from Lily, innocently whistling and looking carefully around as they do so.

Anachronistic is right. The real problem is the Equality Act and the current definition of "gender reassignment" and the prohibition of "discrimination by perception". It means that self ID is not actually needed for any man to enter women's spaces unless the exemptions are used. I have personally made this point before.

Fekko · 02/01/2018 16:28

Bloody Mary convinced herself that she could get/was actually pregnant. Didn't happen.

ChattyLion · 02/01/2018 16:27

But anyone can ‘intend’ anything at any time. Thats not a foundation for taking legally meaningful action on.

If intentions are really so determinative we would be able to lock people up for ‘thoughtcrime’, or for wishing someone dead or etc etc..
So why is this particular intention (and ‘intention to do what, exactly?) so legally different and meaningful and special? Hmm

guardianfree · 02/01/2018 16:24

Try contrasting the issue on this thread - that of men believing that they can have a womb transplanted into them and then get pregnant - with the thread running parallel on here about birth injuries to women.

How deeply offensive it is that anyone representing women could make this 'vanity' medical research a priority while the NHS is unable to provide safe maternity care for women that doesn't leave them with terrible after effects. The money that would need to be spent in order to provide men with wombs is unimaginable.

I so wish this thread would drop off the board as it offends me every time I notice it.

AnachronisticCorpse · 02/01/2018 16:22

Mental not metal ffs.

AnachronisticCorpse · 02/01/2018 16:21

7Gender reassignment

(1)A person has the protected characteristic of gender reassignment if the person is proposing to undergo, is undergoing or has undergone a process (or part of a process) for the purpose of reassigning the person's sex by changing physiological or other attributes of sex.

So basically, with a bit of metal gymnastics, Lily could claim direct discrimination if he wasn’t allowed to stand for the position of Women’s Officer. In other words, women as a separate class are ceasing to exist.

AnachronisticCorpse · 02/01/2018 16:18

Oh and I did a course this morning covering Equality and was enraged by the definitions of Gender Reassignment as a legally protected category. Fuck the proposed amendments, ‘intention to transition’ is already a protected class.

We are fucked.

AnachronisticCorpse · 02/01/2018 16:16

I’ve been following Lily’s twitter feed for a while now, until he blocked me for terfiness.

I really do think all the pregnancy talk will have peak transed most of his followers. Surely it just must be the truly hard of thinking who are still waving Pom poms for him?

cafeaulaitpourvous · 02/01/2018 16:12

Lily has again stated he can get pregnant - and poor deluded fools are congratulating him...

That's it... I throw my tea towel in.... after fifty years of being a female, two live pregnancies, two rapes, one abortion and four miscarriages I obviously have no fucking idea how babies are fucking made

ChattyLion · 02/01/2018 16:03

I also carry a donor card that says they can use anything after I am dead, so I might see if that can be modified along lines of Empress’s will

EmpressOfTheSpartacusOceans · 02/01/2018 15:46

The moment my womb could be transplanted into a fucking deluded, self centred bloke is the moment I remove myself from the donor register. Full. Stop.

That would be why when updating my will recently, I stipulated that any part of me could be donated BUT my womb could only go to a biological female.

BertrandRussell · 02/01/2018 15:31

What is “radical atheism”?

StoneColdDiva · 02/01/2018 13:55

Thanks for the explanation! And it is off topic (way, way off topic) but how is radical atheism explained?

PositivelyPERF · 02/01/2018 13:42

*who try to bully others to go.....

PositivelyPERF · 02/01/2018 13:40

jokes about transgender people (knitting vs woodwork above

I'm one if the posters that did this and I don't give a shit if you're offended. I have as much respect for the TIM 'Lily' as he has for real women. I respect transsexuals and those who identify as transgender who get the full reassignment surgery. TIMs who try to claim they're real women, while retaining their penis and try to others to go along with their fantasy, I've no respect for.

Try saving you're outrage for women whose rights to privacy are being trampled all over. I'm no longer willing to follow the training from birth to put men's feelings first, at the expense of women.

IcedCocoa · 02/01/2018 13:03

That the root cause of women’s oppression is patriarchy, which is the historical social and economic hierarchical structure which benefits (mainly) white, middle class older men at the top.

The lie is that women have equality, therefore patriarchy no longer exists. Whereas patriarchy constantly reinvents itself as men (as a class) think power is a zero sum game, and if you give women too much of it, they lose.

BertrandRussell · 02/01/2018 10:36

Radical feminism simply means the belief that equality/liberation can only come if there is arsdical shake up of existing structures- tinkering at the margins will not worl.

Summed up by Smash the Pztriarchy!

StoneColdDiva · 02/01/2018 10:26

I am interested in language; radical feminism and radical atheism get bandied about as if these are the most extreme versions.

What does rad feminism mean in the context of "root"?

BertrandRussell · 02/01/2018 08:56

“I am bored of explaining that the 'radical' in radical feminism means 'root' and not 'terrorist'.”

Oh, god- me too!

ChattyLion · 02/01/2018 08:52

Misogynists never bother to educate themselves about the reality of women’s bodies and capabilities because it suits their politics not to.
I agree this claim is insulting to women and laughable as a basis for a claim to womanhood, but it entirely fits with how much this lobby ignores science and reduces women to seperable commodifiable parts.
This tweeter eg not being able to tell the difference between a ‘womb implant’ and a womb transplant pretty much tells me all I need to know about the level of thought that’s gone into this... so in that way I am not as it happens SINGLING THEM OUT but just pointing to their predictable thinking as part of the wider misogynistic view common to their lobby-mates.
It’s interesting to consider the similarities here with pro lifers who also IME understand little about female biology and are also against women having agency.

IrkThePurist · 01/01/2018 14:18

I am bored of explaining that the 'radical' in radical feminism means 'root' and not 'terrorist'. I think women stopped using 'women's lib' because men were using it as an insult. Maybe its time to resurrect it.

But ultimately it doesn't matter what we call it, many women will try to distance themselves from it, and men will misrepresent it.

UpABitLate · 01/01/2018 14:09

Agree 100% with IcedCocoa

Too many men using "equality" as a "gotcha". Some were doing it at work the other day. They get this earnest look on their faces and start saying "well why don't women compete against men in sport then?".

ATeardropExplodes · 01/01/2018 13:31

Still wondering from Jepthah what my gender is and what the two definitions are...
